Thanks for the review! They look great after your hike. The GYW comes in handy for those small puddles :) Our boots are great for a basic hike but if you're doing anything more intense you may want to use a boot specifically designed for hiking. Continue enjoying your boots! Best, Kendra from Thursday
Great video, I have no intention in hiking with my Thursdays but I do a fair amount of city walking during overseas business trips all over the world, good to know my Thursdays 'should' hold up👍
haha yeah ephasis on "should" but I think the will! plus the natural horween leather on mine is really outstanding and boots that cost triple the amount of money use the very same!
I love Thursday Boots. I think for the price they're a great value. I actually do a little physical labor with my rugged and resilient captain boots...not everyday, but 2 to 3 times a week and I'm impressed with how they're holding up...sort of an experiment on their durability. Also, customer service is fantastic!
That’s great to hear! I really like mine too - I don’t think they’re the BEST out there but I just rather look at the positives they have than the negatives. They look good, are made from incredible leather, and care about their customers from my experience. Hope yours age well!
@@HuyDang69 They're still one of my favorite boots to throw on! I did get a resole from a local cobbler...they're now sporting a vibram 403 small lug sole.
"It's cold outside"? LOL! At this rate we'll be sitting on the beach at Robert Moses a month from now. :) I own three pairs of Thursdays and love them, but yes, they are a little thin for this weather, and yes, warm wooly socks make it all good! I wear them in the rain (and sometimes in the snow) without reservations. I wouldn't use them for hiking a rocky terrain --- you need good ankle support, which is what low-, mid- and tall hiking boots excel at. But to hike around Suffolk county these are plenty adequate.
Ayyy we got a fellow Long Island man over here! Mhmh man I’m dreaming of a cloudless day on fire island right now haha! Glad to know you’re enjoying your Thursday boots so far and agree - for hikes up in Harriman state park I’m gonna need something with a lot more support and shock absorption!
@Milan Thanks for all your support! So glad the boots have been great in several weather conditions. The GYW is always a plus in regards to this. They're also good for a light hike. Enjoy your boots! Best, Kendra from Thursday
This is good to know because I was considering also getting a pair, but I beat my boots a lot and put them through dirt and rain and I need some that can take the beating. Nevertheless, great content as always, brother. Good to see the channel grow and you interacting with your viewers and subscribers.
Thanks so much Juan! Yeah I think the horween chromexcel leather i have in this video do a solid job repelling light moisture and dirt which is a big plus. The leather is world famous and used in boots that cost triple the amount of money so its actually pretty great that Thursday makes it available at such an affordable price! Stay tuned for more!
Might want to invest in some low end wildland firefighter boots. The low end ones cost less and aren’t fire resistance but hold up for walks. But seeing how this post is 3 years old what boot did you end up getting?
@@ravindecavalier2912 I’ve gotten different type of boots like the ones from the video but never ones like you mentioned. That’s good advice and I appreciated it.
Was the sole slippery on ice? I'm debating between the Whiskey captain with the Stormking sole which will obviously be better, and the Arizona Adobe Captain which has advertised "studded rubber outsole give you the extra grip you need on all surfaces" which makes it sound like it's enough. What are your thoughts?
Yeah mine also chipped in front - they were really nice and sent me a new pair but it’s unfortunate that it even happened. I could totally understand it making you wear them less! Still you could try to contact them and see what they can do to help or bring them to a cobbler and see how much it may cost to put a new sole on

Haha a hike FOR A WEEK? thats a long time but sounds amazing! I would opt for the rangers - stay tuned though because I have a video already in the works Im really excited about ;)
Oh man! First of all, I’m super jealous that sounds like an amazing trip! Secondly, I think it’ll be worth investing in a pair of hiking boots - the shock absorption and cushioning, no to mention water resistance will be better on something more geared towards hiking and you do not want to get stuck with a blister for a week!
@@TheMensch yea I think the shock absorption is the biggest problem with the Redwing shoes. Still some months left to buy a pair of hiking boots and break them in!
Good question - not strange at all! I would recommend getting some selvedge jeans - they’re higher quality denim and feature a stripe on the inseam stitch when cuffed. Check out gustin, naked and famous, bravestar, or gap for some great entry level selvedge jeans!
For some reason I just can’t get cozy with Thursday. They just look cheap to me compared to Red Wings. Also the styles are kinda strange. Like they don’t have their own identity. Compared to your Red Wings how would you rate Thursday boots?
I appreciate this comment a lot as a Red Wing fan and I agree - compared to Red Wing, I think thursday is well behind. And Thursday is largely capitalizing on boot designs made famous by Red Wing and Wolverine. So for me the construction and components of Red Wing are better and if you can get a pair of factory seconds like I find at nordstrom rack for under $150 then its hard to ever send people to thursday. Still I think thursday boots are better than what most guys are wearing and in all fairness they are more mass appealing in look and can be dressed up more easily so for guys who want that kind of thing I still think there are worse places to spend your money
I don't know why they put those soles on there, tbh I can't really see the point of them even if you're an urbanite. Mini lug type soles would've been a much better idea. I know they just now made a model with them but they still haven't done one for women, I want to get a pair for my girlfriend but I learned from my pair the soles offer almost zero in terms of traction.
I've watched way too many reviews of these boots because I really like their design, but it really seems that while the top leather quality is good, the sole/midsole are a big problem. I've seen many people say they got chipped, and even if not, that they wear out too soon. Sure, you were able to get a replacement, but I don't want to have to fight customer service and besides, returns would probably be massively problematic outside the US so I fear they're not for me after all. And resoling a 200$ boot doesn't really make financial sense either since it cost almost as much as a new pair in most places.
Yeah I have to agree with you about the resole - for $100 more you can just get a new pair! I think these are still great and like you said the leather on this pair is outstanding and used in much higher end boots like alden indys- I still think also like you said, they look great and if you’re not going to be working too hard they will be fine. But if you could wait a bit longer and save some extra cash, or find some red wings on sale or gently used on eBay it may be worth that route. I would recommend the merchant from RW for a similar style to these
@@TheMensch I would get a pair since I love the design and live in a city so they would probably not suffer too much hardship, but I just cannot take the risk of ordering from outside the US I fear. You should review their boots with the storm king outsole. They’re a lot thicker and more aggressive.
I could do that «hike» in slippers. Needs far more tougher terrain to properly test them. Generally any boot with a heel, is not good for hiking.
Hey man, what model and color are those? Captain or Vanguard? Brandy? Just curious as I like the look. Thanks.

Yes! Size down at least one full size from your sneaker
Is your right boot chipped in the front sole? Mines are, and I had to super glue the chipped of piece of rubber. Which makes me wear them much less.
