I use a butter pecan cake mix. In addition I use a 1/2-3/4 jar of caramel topping. I like the idea of the caramel bits. I also add a pinch of nutmeg and allspice. Definitely a fall favorite!

I used the caramel ice cream topping in this for many, many years, but for me using the caramel bits makes it so easy to sprinkle them around evenly. Have you tried an Angel food cake mix and mix it with a can of lemon pudding? Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. That’s it, 2 ingredients and delicious.. Hope you will try it if you haven’t. I recommend putting the pecans on top of the sliced butter. The pecans will be toasted in the butter and give more crunch! I do this with a cherry dump cake and it’s delicious. Thanks for your recipe, I’ll be making this for a cookout this weekend! Can’t wait to smell it baking in the oven!
10ACGal4Ever, I have tried putting the pecans on top of the cake and we just did not care for it. The pecans got way too overdone and became hard with a burnt taste. We much prefer them on top of the apple mixture. However, as I always say, make it the way you enjoy it best. Thank you for being a part of our channel!

This sounds like a great combination of flavors. As you were making it, I was thinking this seems kinds of cobbler-like. Knowing me, I'd have probably gone ahead and used the rest of that stick of butter on the top because, well, it's butter. Appreciate the new addition to the rotation of fall desserts.
It truly is like a cobbler, bowed305. And, it’s delicious! It wouldn’t hurt one thing in the world to put the rest of that butter on top of the cobbler. I just knew if I did, I’d have a few subscribers fuss at me for overdoing it. If I hadn’t been on camera, I definitely would’ve used the rest of it.😂
If you have the caramel squares I would use a couple tbs of heavy cream with them in microwave and just stir every 30 sec until smooth. That way you can drizzle over. Rather than cutting them up which would be a pain n sticky mess lol . Or use the caramel sauce for ice cream.
The reason I use the caramel bits is because I don’t have to mess with melting caramels in the microwave. I have used the caramel ice cream topping many times but we just find that using the caramel bits is much simpler and they are delicious. Thank you for being a part of our channel.

Since I only do keto or very low carb, I used just diced apples, not filling from a can, used keto cake mix, keto caramel chips, and instead of cinnamon, I used apple pie spice. I do keto because any dessert spikes my sugar to a very high mark, I know the apples have higher carbs, but apples are healthy for you and in moderation, I only used 2 apples, the cake mix and caramel chips had very low carbs, I buy keto. It was very good! I love a good fall dessert and this was a great idea, just had to tweak it to my lifestyle. Thanks for sharing the video

❤ The cake is in the oven, and I can hardly wait to taste it! It smells wonderful 😊. For chopping the apple slices into small chunks, I used the multi-bladed tool made for separating ground meat in a skillet. Just poured all the pie filling in the baking dish, and chunked the apples up. It worked well, and quickly, spreading and leveling as it went. Thanks for sharing some of the best recipes I have.

A few weeks ago I had a lot of plums. I chopped them up, added some cornstarch and a wee bit of angostura bitters, and then spread some white cake mix across the top and cooked it with the lid to the dish on it. It worked very very well. Same dish, different fruit.
You beat me to it . . . I was going to say this is perfect to do with the grandkids. Also, I have heard of chocolate covered apples. Like a whole apple on a stick dipped in chocolate and rolled in nuts. Yum!!

I made this today and, while delicious, thought it was ultra-sweet. I think I'll leave out the caramel bits next time. I think it would be just as good. It’s so funny you posted this , over the weekend I did an apple dump cake with the spice cake and also with pecan pieces , I added a cup of old fashioned oatmeal, for even more texture to the top , also if you want it a little more juicy you can add about half a cup of apple cider or juice , I prefer cider bc it’s got the spice profile you’ve already added in your layers . Thanks Tom. I like most of your recipes because they and you are an inspiration! I love to cook because it is creative, and I can change recipes to suite our tastes, just like you do. We usually di not consume a lot of sugar because my husband is diabetic. Our tastes have become less tolerant of too much sweetness. I think I could make this recipe using fresh apples, a little Carmel syrup and scratch cake batter, where I can regulate the sugar and it would still be delicious. So, thank you for the inspiration once again!

Renee, it was quite a job to put the cookbook together, but it has been something I’ve wanted to do for many years so our kids would have our recipes in a book. I made this yesterday. Oh my, my grandson said “delicious” and son-in-law said he could eat the whole thing by himself. I have made many dump cakes over the years, this is really good.

I made this and it was DELICIOUS! And as there are only 2 of us, I easily cut the recipe in half and used an 8x8 pan. Now I have enough ingredients to make it again soon! Thank you.

This sounds like a great combination of flavors. As you were making it, I was thinking this seems kinds of cobbler-like. Knowing me, I'd have probably gone ahead and used the rest of that stick of butter on the top because, well, it's butter. Appreciate the new addition to the rotation of fall desserts.
It truly is like a cobbler, bowed305. And, it’s delicious! It wouldn’t hurt one thing in the world to put the rest of that butter on top of the cobbler. I just knew if I did, I’d have a few subscribers fuss at me for overdoing it. If I hadn’t been on camera, I definitely would’ve used the rest of it.😂

If you have the caramel squares I would use a couple tbs of heavy cream with them in microwave and just stir every 30 sec until smooth. That way you can drizzle over. Rather than cutting them up which would be a pain n sticky mess lol . Or use the caramel sauce for ice cream.
The reason I use the caramel bits is because I don’t have to mess with melting caramels in the microwave. I have used the caramel ice cream topping many times but we just find that using the caramel bits is much simpler and they are delicious. Thank you for being a part of our channel.

I use a butter pecan cake mix just like you we love pecans. It is delicious. I have made this several times for church potlucks .

I know this cake recipe will be delicious. Try cherry pie filling on bottom and crush pineapple on top add cake mix then your butter. My family and I fixed this one a lot because it was the only one we knew of. Now we can fix any favor we want. 😊❤ love you both Tom and Melissa.

Thanks Tom and Melissa. Since I only do keto or very low carb, I used just diced apples, not filling from a can, used keto cake mix, keto caramel chips, and instead of cinnamon, I used apple pie spice. I do keto because any dessert spikes my sugar to a very high mark, I know the apples have higher carbs, but apples are healthy for you and in moderation, I only used 2 apples, the cake mix and caramel chips had very low carbs, I buy keto. It was very good! I love a good fall dessert and this was a great idea, just had to tweak it to my lifestyle. Thanks for sharing the video

❤ The cake is in the oven, and I can hardly wait to taste it! It smells wonderful 😊. For chopping the apple slices into small chunks, I used the multi-bladed tool made for separating ground meat in a skillet. Just poured all the pie filling in the baking dish, and chunked the apples up. It worked well, and quickly, spreading and leveling as it went. Thanks for sharing some of the best recipes I have.

I’m sorry you couldn’t find the empanada dough. It sure is a great shortcut. Our Walmart will order it and have it delivered to the store. It’s also available at Save-A-Lot and Meijer.
Our Meijer store and our Save-a-Lot stocks the empanada dough. Also, I can order it through the WalMart website and they will ship it to my local store. You might try that. Thanks for sharing another dump cake. I have made a variety of dump cakes and never have been disappointed in their Yummyness.
A few weeks ago I had a lot of plums. I chopped them up, added some cornstarch and a wee bit of angostura bitters, and then spread some white cake mix across the top and cooked it with the lid to the dish on it. It worked very very well. Same dish, different fruit.

I made this today and, while delicious, thought it was ultra-sweet. I think I'll leave out the caramel bits next time. I think it would be just as good. It’s so funny you posted this , over the weekend I did an apple dump cake with the spice cake and also with pecan pieces , I added a cup of old fashioned oatmeal, for even more texture to the top , also if you want it a little more juicy you can add about half a cup of apple cider or juice , I prefer cider bc it’s got the spice profile you’ve already added in your layers . It’s phenomenal and my favorite fall recipes

Thanks Tom. I like most of your recipes because they and you are an inspiration! I love to cook because it is creative, and I can change recipes to suite our tastes, just like you do. We usually di not consume a lot of sugar because my husband is diabetic. Our tastes have become less tolerant of too much sweetness. I think I could make this recipe using fresh apples, a little Carmel syrup and scratch cake batter, where I can regulate the sugar and it would still be delicious. So, thank you for the inspiration once again!
