    did you have to cut the little stem in the trunk lights?

    • @VinceFung
      @VinceFung  3 года назад +2

      Hello! I did not, however I did hear of people trimming the inner/trunk tail lights to make for better fitment. Currently, the inner/trunk tail light protrudes 2 ish MM vs. the outer tail light. I'm curious to see what in particular people are trimming.

    • @WhatTheFlipOfficial
      @WhatTheFlipOfficial 3 года назад

      @@VinceFung if yours fit and that little stem fit in the hole without problems, then you should be fine. I saw that you hooked the side and cut the scene where you pushed it down. I was stuck at that step. 2mm protrusion sounds like what OEM lights looked like though

    • @VinceFung
      @VinceFung  3 года назад

      @@WhatTheFlipOfficial Ah I understand what you mean. I was also a bit stuck there and used a decent amount of force pushing it both inwards towards the license plate, and downwards into the trunk, while tightening the 8mm bracket down. It isn’t flush, but it hasn’t bothered me much either as the gap isn’t too noticeable on my end. The only thing I am slightly disappointed in with our tail lights is the “lagginess” with the start up sequence, but I was impatient and couldn’t wait for the v2 like they did for the f30/f80’s lol!

    • @WhatTheFlipOfficial
      @WhatTheFlipOfficial 3 года назад +1

      @@VinceFung So I used pliers and removed the little stem and the fitment difference is huge, you should git it a try. I tried it without it and the gap was way too big for me, the trunk light protruded ~7mm. Removed stem, trunk light protrudes 1-2mm (as OEM should).
      And for some reason the driver side fits like OEM with just the stem removed, whereas the passenger side needs washers on the fender light and trimming down on the rubber seal and still only fits 90%.

    • @VinceFung
      @VinceFung  3 года назад +1

      @@WhatTheFlipOfficial Thank you, this is SUPER helpful. I also did notice that the driver side fit better and was more snug vs. passenger prior to removing the stem. I will make sure to pin this comment in case anyone else is facing a similar issue we’ve been facing!

    • @VinceFung
      @VinceFung  2 года назад

      The only trimming I had to do if I recall correctly was to just cut 2 or 2 1/2 inches from one of the welds on the stock muffler as per Active Autowerke’s instructions. The rest of the mid pipe mated to the stock down pipes and no additional trimming required for it to fit flushly.
      I have not noticed any water leaking after some adjustment with the couplings provided by AA.

      Yes, but I will typically leave my cars headlight setting on the “A” switch all the way to the left. Cold start and unlocking shows the animation. If the animation stops working, it could be the battery trying to save itself so just turn the car on and off to reset it, and leave the headlight setting on “A”. • @VinceFung
      @VinceFung  3 года назад +2

      One thing I slightly regretted was putting those yellow resistors at the location I did. For the position I put it in, it may cause the trunk liner to be difficult to reinstall/protrude. If you’re having this problem, I would recommend relocating those four yellow resistors in the little holes in the trunk to allow for more clearance for the trunk liner to fit back in like OEM. Let me know if you need clarification. I believe there was another video where the f32 owner tucked the resistors away into the hole I’m talking about, his RUclips is “Isaac f32”

      Hi @@VinceFung, I appreciate the info. I am dissapointed that the 3 series version of these lights from Vland are like $200 cheaper which doesn't make much sense. As for the sequential turn signal I personally think it looks pretty slick. That's actually what Audi and many other luxury manufactures are doing these days. I'm wondering if I can code them with Beamer Code to slow them down a bit though because they do seem to blink pretty fast.

      @@xP3doB3ar One thing that I did after this video was cut out a little tiny groove in the weather stripping and also wrap the wiring where the trunk potentially pinches on the wiring with electrical tape to give that cable some clearance and protection. I really wish I could find a better way to run the cables without having to do that, but I couldn’t find a way. For now, that is my solution until there is a better method. I also found that there needs to be a lot of slack for the cables when opening and closing it, so don’t tape/secure all of the wiring that runs up to the trunk/inner tail lights and let them a little loose. Regardless, I would still request a warranty replacement if this isn’t resolved as many others have found the same issue, even when just first running/testing them outside the car.

    I have these Vland lights since a few weeks, I've gotten an right signal turn error now, i've contacted the seller and they send me 2 new ballasts and they told me to attach them to a yellow and black wire on the inside of the outer lamps. Kinda scary but i don't want the error anymore, what would you do?
    Very nice video by the way but i had already installed haha

      Thank you for the kind words! I honestly would have done the same, or maybe attempted to code this error out through Carly. I’ve only had this on for two weeks so far so now I’m worried LOL.

      Is your headlight dial on the correct setting? Make sure it isn’t on the “0”. If that doesn’t work, try to lock and unlock the car cause the car may disable the sequence after a while to save the battery.

      @@insightfishing8278 I noticed there was a loud thump under acceleration and noticed that there was a leak by the rear differential. This was covered under warranty and often a common problem. I also had my windshield wiper motor go out but that was very cheap to replace and fix DIY. Other than those two things, it’s all simple fluid flushes and nothing more! So far I’m very pleased with the reliability of this car, not gonna lie lol!

      @@domagojzagorac6186 I would say that the brake lights aren’t the brightest when exposed to direct sunlight. • @VinceFung
      @VinceFung  3 года назад

      Hey Luis! Only thing that comes to mind is to recheck your connections, specifically the yellow and orange cables that run up to the trunk/inner tail lights or try flipping the connections. If this doesn’t work, contact VLAND directly as they may provide better guidance or if the tail lights require replacing (VLAND provides a 1 year warranty).
