At least he did something to discover his talent: followed a passion and worked hard enough to compete at a high professional (not the best, but with the best). Whatever he wants to do with that talent, it's his decision. He always said he wasn't cut out for the day in day out training and wanted to enjoy life his way rather than commit to constant discipline. So, it's his choice, no waste for him, let alone you!
