    • @HarryHoudiniModels

      Wingnut Wings were winding down before the virus. It was Peter Jacksons plaything to make the models he wanted. So there were many bad financial decisions made, like the Felixstowe and Gotha. Great kits, but cost more in tooling and production than they can could ever recoup in sales. Even the new Dr.I had already been outsourced to Meng, which is a good thing as Meng is selling it under their own brand now. Luckily I slowly grabbed their kits when ever I found a cheap one or they had one of the many sales. So I am stocked up for retirement.

    I know your pain Harry (I suppose we all do, anyone who has made models has had an "incident" where we "lost a model in battle"). My golden Labrador with a tail as thick as a tree trunk smacked my Klingon K'tinga with the said tree trunk. It is/was fully lit and its main damage was one of the nacelles with about 4 lights going to it. I haven't had the heart to turn it on to see if it still lights up. Maybe one day. Congrats on floating your boat though.

      There are a few variations depending on country. However Tamiya do it as XF9 as do Hataka 130, Vallejo 70.859, Ammo Mig 920 and Lifecolor UA815. To name a few. British standard colour is 448 , the Federal Standard is 10049 and RLM 28. What paint type and colour does the kit recommend and what brand of paints do you have?

      @@HarryHoudiniModels I only have Mr hobby and Tamiya paints I have fx9 it looks a bit dark I thought the bottom of a ship is red best type of red on a bottom of a ship the kit colour calls out for Revell 36 which is carmine red RAL3002 matt is that correct for boats and ships?

    • @HarryHoudiniModels
      @HarryHoudiniModels  4 года назад

      I always mix my own... Red with a touch of black until I am happy with it.
      You would get away with Carmine red on a newer craft. As I said in my first post. Hull red varied from decade to decade and country to country.

      Ooops sorry about that... looks like they are out of stock of most neutral shades, just colours left available. But that’s ok if the colour matches your base needed for the model. Try warming the bottle in hot water for a minute before shaking... makes a big difference to the flow and prevents most tip clogs and splatter.

    • @HarryHoudiniModels
      @HarryHoudiniModels  4 года назад +1

      There are different types of PE but as a general rule. Clean it with alcohol or mild soapy water. Make sure it is completely dry, then I use either a polyurethane primer like Stynylrez or a lacquer primer like the one in a Tamiya rattle can. I often paint the PE on the fret, then just touch up later after it is removed and CA glued to the model. I also use white PVA wood glue to set PE to plastic. Takes a bit longer to dry but is much more forgiving and easier to clean up. Once primed, either on or off the model, you can paint the PE with any of your usual brands.

    Dear Mr. Houdini:
    Having been retained as legal counsel by Bask “The Cat” Houdini (hereinafter Ms. Houdini) in a defamation action against you, I would like to review the facts of the case and discuss a possible settlement. According to Ms. Houdini, you have been publicly accusing her of a tortious act regarding one of your model boats. The boat is alleged by you to have been innocently displayed on a shelf in one of your rooms. When you were not in the room and out of sight of the model, a crashing sound is said to have occurred in the room following a gust of wind and Ms. Houdini is said to have run from the room immediately thereafter. The model boat is said to have been discovered on the floor beneath the display shelf with pieces broken off, among other trauma. You have publicly accused Ms. Houdini of being responsible for the journey of the model boat from the display shelf to the floor and its accompanying damage. Yet, you admit you did not see Ms. Houdini knock the model boat from the display shelf. You only suppose Ms. Houdini had a role in the displacement of the model boat from its location on display. The alleged confession by Ms. Houdini you proffer is doubtful at best and probably coerced. At best, Sir, this is circumstantial evidence and does not prove in any way Ms. Houdini’s responsibility for the damage to your model boat and your concomitant pain and suffering. Indeed Sir, these accusations, insinuations, and insults are balderdash and will be defended with the utmost vigor or until Ms. Houdini’s last dollar, whichever comes first. No stone will be left unturned in Ms. Houdini’s defense. Expect a legal storm the likes of which the civilized world has never seen. This case will make legal history and be cited in texts for decades to come.
    Of course, Ms. Houdini is open to settlement discussions to avoid what is certain to be a lengthy and stressful trial resulting in victory in her favor. Given the world-wide sullying of Ms. Houdini’s reputation, a substantial monetary offer must be made as well as significant efforts to reinstate Ms. Houdini’s former status on the world stage.
    May I remind you, sir, under the English rules of civil procedure, the losing party pays all legal costs. Given the certainty of victory in my client’s case, I see a yacht in my future.
    Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
    Very truly yours,

Threats of bodily harm are evidence of mens rea from which liability can be implied. The court will be very interested in this information.
      In the best interests of my client, I urge you to reconsider your adversarial position in this matter and settle the case. Ms. Houdini is brokenhearted over this incident and wishes to put things right. Your settlement offer is eagerly awaited.
