Thank You for taking the time to share this information 😊 it's so nice to hear someone just sit down and go through the tips they have, without the fluff and dangling a carrot 😅 very refreshing 😊
Thank you for this video! I love this raw sit down style so much! I would be very interested in how you pick the topics of your videos and more on titles and thumbnails! ☺
Awesome info! Thanks for going into this! Not many people are willing to teach what they know. It means a lot coming from someone so successful on this platform!
Loved these tips! Working hard on improving my videos! So hard to get the audio right cuz I live next to a busy street but the new lav mic has helped a ton!
Thanks for this Kev! I'd love to hear your thoughts on how making RUclips videos has changed over your 10+ years on the platform. What's still the same? What's changed? What's easier? What's harder? Would be super interested to hear!
I really resonate with what you're saying about the algorithm. I've been paralyzed and haven't made a video for 3 weeks because I've been unable to find something that seems like it will generate a lot of search content. I need to stop and just start putting out good ideas
Just started my RUclips channel, Palazzo Place, chronicling my adventures on the road with two tiny Yorkies. Thank you so much for this valuable advice!❤️
what I *think* will be a good idea and what is actually a good idea sometimes have nothing to do with each other 😂 I find myself defaulting to search content while I’m learning what the people want
Good thing to rely on, especially in our space! Look at your last 10 videos, see which got the most reach, try to figure out why / try to make ideas like that
hey just seriously started posting videos on YT the beginning of this year. now I'm almost at 1K. your tips were very helpful (esp about thumbnails), thank you! 🙂
I love what you shared about building the vid around a strong concept. Any tips on evaluating a list of ideas to find the gems worth developing? I struggle getting any traction on longer from vids. Thanks!
Kevin thank you so much for sharing this information with us. Seriously. So if you want a video idea... (I checked and I don't think you have this one yet) but I would love to hear about how to price YT brand sponsorships and not get bullied by the brand. I was not expecting to get brands interested in my channel but a few have already asked. Most of the videos on this topic are 3+ years old.
@@kevinmespiritu thanks. I'll go check him out while I wait for yours :) Also... I just put corn in the ground following your corn video. Fingers crossed I get yummy garden corn this year.
The audio suggestion is good. I bought a rode wireless (the clip on ones) that I see other people use, but it doesn't seem to work well for me (lots of noise, but I also don't have the audio-editing skillset yet. I'll check out the one you suggested
I think i've finally run out of episodes literally binge watching almost 3 days worth of epic homesteading 😭Kudos to you and Jaques! But for you personally, and the growth from a tiny space to what it's become is mind blowing! I've really enjoyed it! Actually took a couple of cuttings today, we'll see. But you've inspired me and thank you so much :) Look up Diary of a CEO podcast, Steven Bartlett. You'd be an amazing guest on there and i'd love to watch that! I suppose i better grow things now, wish me luck! 🌾 or maybe not the corn, those grubs!!! 😱
Awesome video (I’ve gone thru so many bad audio solutions thanks for the honest rec)! You mentioned short titles - however I am curious about the method for having more keywords in titles in order to fit the “search focused queries” for newish channels?
@@kevinmespiritu Coming from the content bloggin world and moving into youtube for my business (now paid products same topic) - i previously made pretty bad youtubes just to have something on my website to support...nowadays, i look at the videos and cringe. Do you think it's a good idea to delete them and remake better videos in order not to cannibalize keywords for "search" based youtube traffic? it's generally a good idea to re-do them anyways for the watchers, but so much work and not sure if worth it
My channel grew and grew . 7 k to 8k views. In last 25 days it dropped down to 2 views , and has not picked up since 3 weeks. It looks like it froze. Any advice ? Plz help
For those of us who have literally no idea what we're doing or simply fail to execute properly lol, should we focus more on basic rules like "if video is about subject, show subject in thumbnail, title, description, and first 30 seconds of video", or is it more like do anything to come up with a good title even if it means turning every chapter of our best video into an additional standalone video, or perhaps (hopefully not) looking through all the comment sections of similar content creators who actually get comments and seeing what the most common questions are? Maybe we should just surf the trends like "How RUclips Changed My Life With Under 500 Subscribers"? Or does nothing but growth matter when under 10k subs because the amount of data we can gather is so limited that trying to innovate simply makes no sense when there are proven methods like "How to or ways to x", "How I or ways I x", "setup, starting, or plan x", "change your life", "my system", "with me", "tutorial, "documenting x", "you need x", "famous person name x", "don't do or agree with popular opinion", "differences between x and y", "x strong opinion", etc with bonus points for adding something like "and here's why" after the title or in the thumbnail if we tried the other thing elsewhere. It's frustrating to be under 100 subs because when it's like "just understand and then apply these achievable tips!" but everything is set up wrong, the awareness of the magnitude of the problem can be a bit overwhelming and I feel like we almost get conditioned to losing. This is a bit unrelated but I feel I have to add it. I'm not sure what sub level of viewer this video is aimed at; but, the tips sound good and I feel a bit more pressured to take a picture rather than simply using one of the default options for the thumbnail!
Honestly hard to answer this - you have a lot of nested questions in here. I would say overall you are likely overthinking it. Looking at your channel, I think you could do a better job at your channel header / logo, and then you have to explain what "Commonplace Diploma" actually means - it's not a normal phrase we all know. And every single one of your titles has it in there.
@@kevinmespiritu well your reply was very quick and helpful! (I think you saved me 6 months!) I think you're right about me overthinking it haha I guess it's time to make sure a higher number of the videos are actually visible rather than scheduled - this was done so I didn't run out but it made them all lower quality channel header and logo will be moved up the priority list explaining Commonplace Diploma is actually the video I'm currently working on I switched the wording from Book as there were 470 videos - to Binder as that went up against 1 video - and now other people are changing their titles or making new ones as Binder so I'm pushing to Diploma as each of these jumps are closer to what I want to be working on while also having less and less competition - and while they are providing some data on what people are used to or accept - they're mostly providing me with the proof that certain methods aren't working haha - basically learning all the ways not to do it and that I need to learn the rules before I break them the good news is that dozens of videos are already made and scheduled so I'll just push up the release dates and get the confirmation as to if they work or not sooner!

Adobe Premiere Pro, but overkill for most use cases. Just use CapCut desktop app or something

I switched the wording from Book as there were 470 videos - to Binder as that went up against 1 video - and now other people are changing their titles or making new ones as Binder so I'm pushing to Diploma as each of these jumps are closer to what I want to be working on while also having less and less competition - and while they are providing some data on what people are used to or accept - they're mostly providing me with the proof that certain methods aren't working haha - basically learning all the ways not to do it and that I need to learn the rules before I break them
