Great Question!!! And the answer varies quite a bit. If you have a heavy spear and the fish is right below you, you can drop it. If not, in most cases, you have to throw it. Thanks for watching!!!
We run a couple different kinds. K-drills and StrikeMaster. My personal preference is the StrikeMaster. It cuts like butter and doesn’t grab. Thanks for watching!
@@OutdoorsAMEHRICA now that is a genius idea.... I have a permanent spear shack it stays out all winter so I wouldn't have never thought about actually putting the ice back ....
We Have been spearing pike in UP of Michigan for 40 years when fishing in 4-6 ft of water and ice is over a ft thick make more sense to pull out so when fish come by there isn’t a ft of ice obstruction in the perimeter of the hole? Makeing it more normal than big blocks ice around hole!
USPS nice fish and it's nice when somebody actually has thought behind what they're doing once I read your comment about the ice I've actually done that a couple times now when I use a portable put the ice back in the hole cool idea
@@hugh_jorgan633 Yes when we fish with portable shak and cut hole we pull up with ice tongs and done for the day we put Ice chunks bac in hole. Freezes within couple hrs.
The music is so annoying please lose the dramatic music. What is wrong with just the natural sounds you heard while spearing. Just my opinion but I suspect others will agree with me.
What boring video. You talked to much, and only got one fish the whole time. Don't want to watch you setting up, making the hole in the ice or watch you with the fish on the bottom for ever.
Nice Hjelle leaning on the shelter. My go to spear👍
Aren’t they awesome?!?!
@@OutdoorsAMEHRICA yes they are!
Wow that’s amazing. So cool to see
Thanks for watching!!!
Agreed!! 0 just watching something like that come through the hole is a win
Love the video man keep up the great work
Thank you! We appreciate it!!!
Beautiful work
Thanks for watching!!!
Massive northern! Well done man!!
Thanks Joe! It was a heck of a fish!
Oh how many pike tacos!! Great spearing. I’m not jealous or anything 😉
😂😂Thanks for watching!!!
Do you just drop the spear to catch the fish? Is the weight of the spear alone enough to make it travel quick enough to catch the pike?

Toss them once your below surface
Where did you get the spear you speared it with?
It’s an Amish made spear actually!
That’s a Mankato fish house! I had one and loved it!
They are the perfect “On the Go” fish house!
What lake are you on?
Nice Pike I couldn't see the scale. How much and how long was it ?
It was exactly 20 pounds! We didn’t get a true measurement as our tape broke in the process. Thanks for watching!!!
what is that drill setup?

Trying to figure out why u would put so much 3ffort into pulling the ice on top of the lake are you bringing it home or something
Great Question! We put it back in the hole when we are done so it freezes up faster. Thanks for watching!

Milked that one.

Why 2.spears? Fish would be hard to get off if anything
Sometimes a fish can roll and fall off so with a fish that size it’s good to have a backup handy if possible. Thanks for watching!!!
