Sorry that happened to you. :/ I can definitely help you problem solve this and figure out how to avoid it in the future. What thickness of foam were you using? Where did you get it from?
@@CosplayApprentice I was using a 2mm foam from the dollar store. I tried to cut as deep as I could without going through the foam, but the moment I applied enough heat to see the engraving pop, the corners of the foam started bending and warping
In order to do this trick it is best to use at least 4-5mm thick craft foam or thicker. You can do this technique with 2mm but in order to do that with 2mm foam you would need a stronger-denser foam like our "What The Foam" that we sell on Amazon. Also you don't need to cut too deep into the foam to get the detail to show up so with a 2mm piece you would want to try to cut as shallow as you can and still have it show up. Also, maybe a lower heat setting could help if you are wanting to try it still with the foam you have. Hope that helps. :) Please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions, I am happy to help :)
dude i love the tool holder wrist thing you have! that's super creative!!
Thanks! Pretty awesome right!?! I'm wanting to make a next level one that I'm calling the ultimate crafting gauntlet that should be pretty sweet!! :)
Did you make that tool gauntlet yourself? I could really use something like that! Great idea!!
@LoriLynnePringle yeah, I have a video on it, called the ultimate crafting gauntlet :) I have a free pattern available and everything :)
This will come in handy when adding detail to the scales for my dragon warrior.
Yay!! It is such an awesome trick that helps make some really cool things! :)
Been trying to figure out how to do seams in my robot armors without making a bunch of tiny pieces, this should work great! Thanks

I tried this for a small project but my EVA foam started warping when I applied heat (mine is regular craft foam). How can I avoid this?
