- The MikroTik ROSE (RouterOS Enterprise) package adds data center functionality to RouterOS - for supporting disk monitoring, improved formatting, RAID, rsync, iSCSI ,NVMe over TCP, NFS. This functionality currently is supported on arm, arm64, x86 and tile platforms.
This vide is part one in the series.

Two videos in one day?! Let's goooooooooooooo!
An extra added bonus is that you can mount NFS exports on RouterOS, which is what I've always wanted!
Would be a dream a Nas solution integrated, out of box configuration
Only one question, when nas ?
In general, I dont make my CRS520 a NAS. But it is OK to have this function for a NAS model of yours.
I would suggest to let this ne its own module.
-) Base Ethernet Module (classical Router OS)
-) NAS (rose) Module (iSCSI, NFS, SMB, ...)
-) Base Infiniband Module (RoS for IB and not Eth, I still want one :-p)
Because always when I log into my Kubernetes Backbone (also at work), I see Kid Control - this is also a function that enterprises dont use! :-p
Otherwise no hate, just my point of view! :-)
Things I don't want in my router...
More pls!
can this actually sustain high transfer speeds, or is it a bit of a mikrotik gimmick, like say running bgp full routes on a hap ?
that will depend on your hardware and disks
if you plug a cheap USB thumb drive into your router, it will be really slow as those usually have terrible IOPS and transfer speed.
If you install RouterOS on a powerful x86 server with lots of NVMe SSDs, it should be able to saturate a 100Gbps link.
RouterOS is built on a linux kernel and as far as I know uses lots of standard linux software in the background that is used on lots of servers worldwide. That's why the speed should scale really well with what your hardware can manage.
The limiting factors on mikrotik devices will probably be drive connectivity and on the smaller ones potentially the CPU speed. Maybe try to find some info online from someone who has already used this feature on your device.
When does it get support for gunzip?
Still not possible to use in scripting or when importing containers from disk - while it is used when downloding containers...
I have no usb and no space left on the disk
Part2 ? Can we use nfs or smb for containers?
Thank you for sharing. Sounds a very good feature. I assume that it does not work with the Audience or the hap ax3 correct?
For HAP AX3 works! It's an arm64 so it can be installed as described with external USB
drives. I just think it's not properly documented in the main site, I hope these videos will help!
What SO is?
It’s a fun feature but you need to release some specific hardware for it, like a NAS model.
Good idea
Fix title typo " advanced "
Don't put all your eggs in the same basket.
Part 2??
iSCSI is said "eye scuzzy"
The rest of us know, and Druvis also knows it now :D
😮
