RIP Gaps 💔💔
RIP Gaps Another Legend gone 😢
PAULINE BLACK IS......THE QUEEN OF SKA!! 👸
...and she still sits atop that throne!
Phyllis Dillion: hold my roots tea
True that!!!
Definitely
@@morelife6508 True but Pauline is the Queen of British Ska..
sitting on an oil rig in the north sea,57 yrs old, takes me back 45 yrs 😎
great, here's some words in case you missed them: LEAVE IT IN THE DAMN GROUND!
The Selecter was a key inspiration for No Doubt and Gwen Stefani!
The Selecter with the delectable Pauline Black & Arthur ‘GAPS’ Hendrickson on vocals.Saw them at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham in 1980.A brilliant live band.
the main people in the Selecter were Pauline Black & Noel Davies.
@@jamesmcnellis7457 but Compton and co made the all round sound - and the sheer energy collectively was so so good
Great song! Gives me good vibes from my youth! Ska rude boy/girl fan for life and beyond! 😎👌
My favourite Selecter song. It's so good
1980... that far off foreign land.. 44 years ago, if you went back 44 years before 1980 you'd be in 1936... that's how far away 1980 is!
what an incredible song, music was real, ppl were real, the uk was real
@@eightiesmusic1984I'm 54 too, was a big fan of 2 tone at the time and even more so when I was 16 to 18 when the period 79 to 81 seemed like a lifetime ago. I saw the Selecter in the early 90s twice, at one gig I got up on the stage during Missing Words and kissed Pauline on the cheek to the amusement of the middle aged career skinheads in the crowd. She didn't miss a beat, a few seconds later she was singing 'You got a problem baby!' and pointing to me to further amusement. Talk about thinking on your feet.
Yes 2 tone was definitely about unity and anti racism and there certainly was a fair amount of racism in those days. Sometimes I wonder though if the anti racists of that era - Jerry Dammers, Paul Weller etc take a look at the blatant racism against white people now in social housing allocation, what's taught in universities, public sector employment, at how white people have become minorities in British cities and often targets of racial violence and murder (Kriss Donald etc), the shocking levels of crime in black communities in the UK etc and wonder if perhaps in hindsight they could have had a bit more loyalty and solidarity with their own people
Loves the drums in this tune.
Read her book, Listen to her music, go to the concerts. She has got something to say. Respekt!
For ever the selecter ska 😊
superb
Brilliant live band
What a freakin TUNE
Pauline Black is one of my girl crushes. 😍. What a woman. Love the Selecter, love this song 🌞

Great song. First time seeing this video!
Classic ska
rip gaps ❤❤❤❤
This song is haunting maybe it's just me, I was 11 or 12 when I fell in love with this group and the gorgeous Pauline Black x
I've always been a great fan of the Selecter- best of the 'Two Tone' bands in the opinion if many. Have listened to this track many times over the year's on Vinyl, CD and the Internet. Great song and lyrics - but I've often wondered why the great guitar solo wasn't repeated at the end of the single/track to fade out. It would have improved a great song even more.
The Selecters best song in my eyes (or ears) 🛵🛵🛵
I was really 8 years old in 88 listening to this loving life...wow first grade to me
such a cool band1!!
What a great flashback!💎
M,55,Germany
This tune is brilliant
Ska all my life.... When I was young
SHE'S PERFECT
She was and still is the sharpest dress woman .
For the youngsters, that is a phone dial at the beginning of the video.
What a tune
❤ Pauline
That bass line........
FOREVER 😭
This is my favourite Selected track. Pauline Black really nails the vocal - but the 'chiming' lead guitar motif and the keyboards really sock home on this track ! Brilliant. Especially compared to today's bland offerings from the likes of Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran et al !
Should be Selecter !
I still love you, Pauline.
Me too,Pauline is one of the most honest and loveliest person in this mad world we live in 2024.
Brilliant Brilliance .
I loved ska. Look at the bands? Multicultural. Where did it all go wrong.
The specials played the music to this song 😁😅😆😉
Que la tierra te sea ligera grande Gaps Hendrickson 🏁🕴️😢
Abrazos de 2 tonos desde México 🇲🇽
Wow wee 🎉
Wow, using a public pay phone. How did we ever manage without mobile phones and the internet? Well we did.
I used to be mad on the 2 tone... Still love it.
this was a tune m8
The only one Ska Drt0 ad
RIP Gaps 💔
I saw them live at The Whiskey on the Sunset Strip. She was so pissed off at all the lame punks that were spitting at her on the stage. She kept threatening to come and kick their asses. lol.
But I'm always dope!
I was young and handsome once. (Just take my word for it, I know I'm leaving out a few details..)
Last night, when I told you all that stuff
About the way things are
You didn't understand a word
But you said you did
Now, I'm not the honest Joe I might seem
I can't take your lies
It's late, I'm tired, your words just
Crackle along the wire
You've got a problem, baby (you've got a problem)
It's all over now (it's over now)
You thought you had it made
It's over
It's over
It just don't make sense, the way you did
The things you did
You might have thought that I was dumb
But I'm all wised up
Game's up, move on, why don't you
Get out of my hair?
I wonder if you ever did
Really care
You've got a problem, baby (you've got a problem)
It's all over now (it's over now)
You thought you had it made
It's over
It's over
It's over
Missing words, missing words, it's just
Missing words, missing words, it's just
Missing words, missing words, it's just
Missing words, missing words, it's just
Missing words
You've got a problem, baby (you've got a problem)
It's all over now (it's over now)
You thought you had it made
It's over
It's over
It's over
