Matt Le Tissier could have had a top 10 Premier League goals collection all on his own. A sublime player, woefully underused if not overlooked by England.
Gives me pleasure to say I saw 3 of these with my own eyes (Barnes, Shearer and Le Tissier). Le Tiss quite rightly won GOTS...I remember the whole ground applauding after it went in.....watch the Rovers fans clapping behind the goal at 1:39
You were privileged, even though two of those went against your team (I'm guessing). The reaction when Le Tiss's went in partly proves my case that it's one of the very best goals ever, not just that season!
I had the pleasure of seeing the Ndluv goal. A very good goal, but we were a division below and I think some of our defenders weren't up to scratch that season unfortunately!
Been digging through your channel and I'm glad I found this. Le Tissier's chip against the Rovers was a piece of fine art, skimming through those defenders like if those defenders were me before nicking that goal from 40 yards away. Bloody legendary. Undoubtedly one of the most phenomenal shots in Premier League history, and the man himself was so underused it's criminal. I don't even think Le Tiss has even had a _bad_ shot in his whole career. Hell, you can even see some of the Blackburn supporters in the crowd cheering him on after that, which I can honestly respect.
Yeah, it's probably still my favourite Premier League goal. I think the Blackburn fans _and_ Tim Flowers all had a sort of "Well, nothing we can do about that, so may as well enjoy it" sort of attitude about it.
Le Tiss's outrageous, measured, curling, dipping, cannon ball into the top corner, after creating space with 3 bamboozling touches is a true masterpiece.
Forget the goals for a second, the commentators here were some of the greatest of all time: Davies, Motson, Tyldesley.... Some of the best ever to narrate football matches. It really was a better time back then to be a footie fan.
Old comment, but as much as the 1990s were a fun time, it was most definitely not an era of innocence. In fact, this very season - 94/95 - still stands out as particularly scandalous and sinful.
Nayim's goal was something great and unexpected in a split second that changed the history of that game against Arsenal. Although Barnes' goal also seems very remarkable to me, I think Nayim's is better than all goals.
I bet that was a day to remember! Both Spurs and Liverpool had teams that were well worth watching back then. I've never actually been at a live match when a Goal of the Month winner has been scored - part of the "joys" of being a Peterborough United fan... :-/
Matt Le Tissier against Blackburn is just amazing. But his goal at Villa is right up there. No danger at all then bang out of nowhere top corner. awesome
The magnificent meeting of minds: Lynam ‘10 goals, pick your favourite’, 90s football and ‘the life of Riley’ instrumental. Glastonbury 23 brought me here tonight
For me this was the best era in football in my time.... Probably because I was 14/15 in that season and a Man United fan ( Yes I know Blackburn won the league in 95) but we were clearing up in the 90's. I used to enjoy motd back then watching the likes of Le Tissier scoring them 30 - 40 yard goals which he made look so easy. Im pretty sure Le Tissiers second goal in this list got goal of the season that year.
VideotapeFTW lol, yea no doubt. Good video btw as it brings back memories of players I watched through childhood. I was like damn yea I remember him and started googling certain players to see what they're up to now👍
+Algrim "Ginger-Fist" Durinsson Glad you enjoyed it! It was a good time for football - not long before money *really* took over the game - and I think these Goal of the Season vids capture the era perfectly.
I think the best way to describe Stan is an "individual" rather than an "egomaniac". Having seen him interviewed in recent years, I have a lot more sympathy for him now than I did back then. His head definitely wasn't in the right place on many occasions, but at the top of his game there was no stopping him.

I used to love the smell of my sticker album. It only dawned on me fairly recently that my eight-year-old self was probably getting slightly high on the glue.
Some absolute peaches in this but I'd have to go for Matt Le Tissiers goal against Blackburn closely followed by John Barnes goal. Le Tissier was easily one of the top players in the Prem in the mid 90s. The Nayim one was a freak but hardly surprising to see David Seaman once again beaten from long range. It was his Achilles heel.
Le Tissier, the most underrated genius in premier league history. What a player.Flowers was a first class keeper at the time and still got nowhere near it.Le Tis 👌
I too regard this as a great season - probably the best I can remember. :-) It was not long after this that the Premiership just got too big for its own good, in my humble opinion.
1:36 it always cracks me up that Tim Flowers actually tried to do something with Le Tissiers shot ! LOL what ever he was trying to do he just ended up on his back ! He should have just stood there and admired it like the rest of us !
You know what mate that was my exact same thought watching this video! Especially the Andy Clarke picture! For me the golden era of the Premiership. I seem to remember this season's album being blue with Paul Merson and Ryan Giggs on the front, and the year later it was black! Ah, I can still feel the disappointment now of opening 8 packs in one go and getting Lee Clark or Frank Sinclair at least twice in them!
Really liked Sheringham's. Great ball forward, nice backheel and turn from Klinsman, perfectly weighted lay-off and a lovely side-footed finish from Sheringham. Collymore's was cool as well: nice ball control to control the ball at the start, lovely dribbling around the first defender, pure pace past the second and an emphatic finish.
VideotapeFTW Yeah it's true, he was amazing at Forest. Started well at Liverpool but he was always on the razzle and it caught up with him. Big guys like that don't stay at the top long if they are living fast.

@ltsaint911 It's Match of the Day's goal of the season, so as long as the match was broadcast on the BBC (and the Cup Winners' Cup final was), it was fair game. That's how it worked back then, anyway.
It didn't help that certain media outlets took an instant dislike to him, and frankly revelled in his personal problems. (Same goes for Gascoigne in that respect.) The fact that Collymore ended his career with a grand total of three England caps is bordering on scandalous.
I remember watching that Arsenal game and to this day I still believe Nayim meant that. We can't look at every lob and be cynical about it. Some are genuine and I genuinely believe he saw the ball and the way it bounced in front of him, measured it in his head and had a go.
Yeah, I watched it live, too, and I'll be honest my impression was that running down the clock and playing for penalties (being the last minute of a cup final) was forefront of Nayim's mind as he wellied it. It turned out way better than even he expected, obviously.
@cen2s2s You're truly privileged! That goal from Le Tissier may still be the best that the Premier League has ever seen - way ahead even of Beckham's halfway line jobbie, in my opinion.
@VideotapeFTW I couldn't disagree more. It was *exactly* what he meant to do. He clearly saw Seaman off his line, the ball sat up perfectly for him and he went for it....99% audacity, 1% luck.
I remember the next week on Fantasy Football League Nick Hornby - an Arsenal fan - was treated to a chorus of (to the tune of Go West) "Nayim, from the halfway line". He wasn't impressed. :-)
VideotapeFTW love your vids, I have loads of old MOTDs and Man United reviews on video, love digging them out. Gotta disagree with you on Nayim's strike though...it was speculative for sure, but what else was he trying to do? From the moment he hits it you can tell he's waiting to see if he's pulled it off or not. Great - and unusual - goal!
Former Coventry, Birmingham, Sheffield United and Huddersfield winger Peter Ndlovu has been critically injured in a car crash in his native Zimbabwe. The accident, in Victoria Falls, claimed the life of his elder brother Adam, who was also a professional footballer. The pair were returning from a friendly match between the Highlanders Legends and a Victoria Falls team. A female passenger is also reported to have died in the accident.
Got to be Le Tissier's goal against Blackburn for me. I seem to remember John Barnes was playing in the centre of midfield when he scored that gem of an overhead kick.
They always said on the packet that the stickers were all printed in equal numbers - which goes nowhere to explaining why I'd get about 20 Wimbledon silvers before a Man Utd or Liverpool one showed up...
There were always rumours about Ndlovu getting a big move, but it just never happened. Same with the likes of Le Tissier and Kinkladze - definite talent in abundance, but we'll never know whether they were more than big fishes in (relatively) small ponds. Pity.
Sometimes i watch this video again and again. Just for Le Tissier goals. Magnificent:) P.S.: what happened to the FIFA WC'90 BBC review? Can't find it anywhere...
