watching Jake's video is like seeing an old friend these days
Top comment👏
So true!
OMG spot on!
Very true.
joeapplemac08 He has a Cambridge college degree and this is the sort of life your living? This just proves a degree is not the answer to get rich.
You kind of need to scramble the eggs to make scrambled eggs......
"Ah so you work at a bank, what do you do there?""
"I work in the money team"
"...sure"
Oh my goodness, Jake is cooking and baking this is crazy
Jake exists in a temporal phase that intersects ours on,y every few weeks.
yes, i am getting sine wave vibes
New vid from Jake? Okay... he is either:
1 - Bored...
2 - Unemployed again...
or there is a global panedmic
LMFAO THATS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😆
"it's not the same as doing it in person... but its better than nothing" - I think we can all relate
Today is a special day, because I get to see Jake Wright.
I’m not sure you appreciate how helpful it is to me hearing someone else saying they are finding it difficult at the moment, thank you!
I'm glad you're well, Jake. I really liked your quote at the end about this being a pandemic and we aren't just working from home. That really hit home with me too. Cheers
Finally a quarantine vlog that is something real and 100% relatable. Very practical and informative all the while entertaining. Quality content as always. Kudos on the work that Jake puts into his vlogs.
Thanks Jake. Great to hear those dulcet tones again.
please do these regularly. so good. i've just found you and binged watched all of the 'a day in the life'
love your video's Jake, you're totally right about keeping some structure to the Day. Your cookery video's are classic , keep them coming :)
Making scrambled eggs in a good non-stick frying pan is the best way to go by far. very easy to clean.
If you want a tip to get them perfect, use a flat-ended wooden spatula or something and just continuously scrape from the outside of the pan into the centre and keep doing that the whole way around the pan until the eggs are cooked to your preference.
New to the channel and loving it. Please do more cooking videos. Your charming personality and enthusiasm for life make every episode, a must watch!
Always good to have an upload from Jake :)
Good to see you again, Jake. Thanks for the update.
Thanks for the video Jake. Really inspiring and great content as always.
I’m in an almost identical routine and am supremely jealous of your working from home setup. The chair in particular has me envious :)
Thank you for your vlog. All your videos are so motivating and inspiring.
Love the vlogs ! Hopefully they’re going to be more frequent now we’re in quarantine
Lockdown must be tough when you can't cook lmao.
To be fair the cookie looked good so some credit is due
Glad you're safe & healthy. Your hair looks great!
For sure setting and (as much as possible) sticking to a daily routine has helping me, too! I’ve also been using walks outside as dividers between work/personal time. Never really liked baths before, but some nights will use a long hot bath to wind down before sleeping. I find myself using Amazon Alexa more than before...home automation, weather, music, etc.
Another great video. I use Sleep Cycle too and have found it seems to work. I've also found establishing a routine is key.
Some great honesty and insights here Jake, many thanks for sharing this. take care amigo x
3:45 THIS it's exactly how it goes for me as well. I can't do anything for fun before I want to work, I always find myself keeping with the fun stuff
Thanks for this, realised I wasn't the only one struggling with productivity.
I was like watching your programming tutorial and now I am procrastinating by watching this..
but I think this has some useful advice and it seems like I am learning something new
miss your vlogs, jake
He's back! btw I have that exact tv monitor on your shelf and have only now replaced it; I served me well the past 8+ years.
Thanks for another awesome video, Jake!
Love all your videos. Please update more.
Oh my Jake... that nigella inspired cookie dunking made my wee heart flutter x
Working from home does feels just like school, its so weird. I always go for a walk/run after work too, a great way to clear the head.
It does feel like university life is back indeed! I feel like I'm on revision/essays week at uni where I have to do the coursework on my own haha. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
I’ve missed watching Jake cook so much
i love your energy
The last part of this video was a massive encouragement, thanks from a fellow North Easterner!
I’ve also been struggling wfh as a software dev. I live in a shared house so I only have my room really and that makes it difficult to mentally distinguish
I'm simultaneously glad to see another video from Jake, and jealous of how 'clean' his desk (and room) looks.
"My work from home setup is not the minimal style that people go for ..."
Jake (or his colleague with the perfectly made bed) would be a prime candidate to star in the ad Apple is currently running on creativity - where everyone is on webcam and just happens to have an immaculate and photogenic room in the background - no matter how much, or how little there is in the room.
Uh, Jake you've got to... uh... *scramble* those eggs in order to get scrambled eggs. 😂
Being in my 8th WFH week I can feel this. At first it's no difference at all (as I'm also a software engineer who's had WFH days before), but as weeks go on work and private are getting fuzzier. I've moved my usual morning run into the afternoon now as a sort of “break“ between work and private. :D
You're not the only one using their ikea shelf as a makeshift standing desk, best thing ever to avoid sitting all day. 👌
love this video
u had to get up for school...….and u could eat in the school café/etc
but looks like u are surviving the crisis alright
Another great video jake!
Looking good, sounding good !
Hooray! I love it when you upload!
I work around the corner from Monzo as a dev, works current plan is for the engineers to be remote until September but focusing at home is a struggle
Surprisingly found that I'm actually living so close to you. Before I moved to London for study, I have been started to watch your videos since you got an offer from Cam.
Great to see a new video.
Hey Jake!
Great Content as always!
I have a video suggestion: connecting Microservices (possibly in Go) with RPC 😉
Hi jake I just wanted to say thank you cause you have motivated me to code thank you
You can also put boxes on your desk to have a standup desk
ahh i love sleepcycle. i have been using it for maybe 5 years consistently and before that on and off for a while. sadly i've lost a lot of data since it's been on previous phones.
And, as always, the master chef 😎
Looking forward to more of your travel vlogs
The last time I watched your videos, I think you were looking for a job. Glad this is working out for you (even in these times). Not even sure how I found your channel before. But I must say it’s worth it. Refreshing, like seeing a friend. Edit: On that note, stay safe!
What configuration is your MacBook Pro (RAM / Processor)? Loving the vlog style format, hope there’s another one soon!
Thanks for a great video - nice to have you back! - I do my daily walk then when I return its work time. Now that I can do two walks a day, I'm going to 'walk home' as well. Also, have two chromes set up -work and non-work. Stay safe everyone!
Ever thought of going into broadcasting for itv etc?
pls come back
So interesting to see jake wearing a t shirt that has korean on. (스포츠 = sports)
lol me same lol randomly Korean 스포츠 popped up on video
It would be really interesting to have a video on the ways in which your life has changed since uni/what you’ve learnt since being a student :)
Great video, really informative. Can you say something in the next video about what you think of the new guidelines for going back to work with 'social distancing' in place. Or do you think you will spend the next six months working from home?
Very very interesting! 👍👍
I was wondering: which technologies are you using in the backend & database? I'm planning to do a similar project (privatley though)
Easy to make scrambled eggs in the frying pan. just keep the spatula moving in the pan through the egg and you will end up with scrambled egg instead of an omelette. Forgot to mention don't cook on a very high heat just medium.
And don't overcook them. They should be soft and creamy, not tough and bouncy.
I think is a little scary how similar this is to my current situation... being trapped in a bad sleeping schedule and eating at my desk with RUclips videos included. Thanks for sharing, makes me feel less lonely!
I am a Brazilian software engineer and I am learning English. These videos are very important to me because I can learn some words that I can use in my working day. Thanks for this video and hope you do more! :D
When I watch this kind of videos it helps me stay motivated, thanks for video
same feels!
Great that you are standing up and finding a way to do so; everyone should try to do this everyday to prevent any back injuries. One tip is to tuck your butt under your body more, you have a bit of a sway when you stand, and try to avoid standing too much on one leg than the other, this can cause unevenness. Great video as always!
That’s an interesting little figurine next to the plant on the shelf.
I also work from home, which tbh kind of sucks. I'm relieved that I don't have to worry about loosing my job, but at the same time it seems as if I moved from living at home to living at work.
It doesn't even feel like my own home anymore, it's just the place where I sleep and wake up to then work some more.
Let's support Jake for making more motivational videos about working from home.
nice quarantine wfh vlog ,thx and stay healthy🍀
Jake, you need to make more Web Development/Programing videos. Those are the best videos I’ve seen!
I'm SO sick of WFH 😭😭😭 Glad you're doing well!
Would love to see regular videos (weekly) even if it is WFH vlogs, they're fun to watch and not repetitive (IMO)
Jake, you were close in making the scrambled eggs - tip: You scramble them in the pan with a fork as they are cooking. Start as soon as you pour the mixture into the hot pan, and continue for a bit, til they are scrambled and done. Add a sprinkle of black pepper and salt mid-way, then eat em.
Another tip: Get up at 8am, shower, eat brekky, and then review what you did 'at work' the day before, until the vidcon time arrives. When you're done with work, you'll know you awoke at a decent hour, had breakfast, did your work, and you're free for the rest of the day. Love from Italia, Ciao!
"by the time I'll make a video"... well, there's the possibility there will be a vaccine and a cure by that day, Jake ;)
this comment aged like fine wine, moderna + pfizer vaccine released when he uploads a video
I am also now in a position that I have to sit all the time, taking the dog out around the house each and every hour helps a lot :)
Jake we need you
Wow I think I have found my spirit animal, that getting up late then staying up late is me all over. I'm trying to change the habit but it's difficult to say the least ☹️
Thank you!
we need more Jake videos :)
Jake watches RUclips videos. Jake's cooking has, um, room for improvement. What are your favorite cooking RUclipsr recommendations for Jake?
What is Jake doing now? It has been two months since this was posted.
He got deported to Israel 😔
my improvised standing desk is a big bowl on the kitchen counter :D
Hello from KAIST! Stunned to see Korean on your shirt lol
HES BACK BOYS
Jake I would love an update on where you are going with this channel. You don't upload as much as you used to, so I was wondering if you have lost interest/forgotten about us.
I'm not hating, so please don't take this the wrong way
Miss you! I hope you can update more videos.
More videos on how to be an effective member of an agile dev team would be really good
Thanks for sharing !
Is there going to be any layoffs from Monzo? Also, I am a Monzo beta customer in USA. Love the app!!!
Thanks for updating us Jake. You should watch Gordon Ramsay’s video on how to make scrambled eggs for a quick and easy guide!
What kind of chair do you use that you’d recommend for home working?
we miss you Jake 😩
mushed up omelet next to Cambridge Gin.. nice!
Hi,
Thank you for your great video.
Can I know what application are you using for team meetings? is it Zoom or ...?
Thank you again
Nice IKEA pint glass. I have the same, very good
