do you wear the soft helmet every session? I recently bought one and am trying to figure out what my "rules" are for wearing it. going to Nica tomorrow and plan to wear it if it feels slightly out of my comfort zone. I would wear it on heave reef breaks. but like im back home on a 3-4 foot day prob wont wear it. curious your thoughts on when you decide to wear the helm. 🤙
Previous traumatic brain injuries and concussions sustained while surfing. Probably a few years ago now? Glad he's on the path to a healthy recovery. More and more professional surfers are wearing helmets as a precaution at heavy waves like pipe and teahupoo. Koa's helping to lead the way in breaking the helmet stigma.
I honestly feel bad about saying this but I feel like I have to become an instructor as a side hobby. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you aren't working towards being able to perform lotus position comfortably with a straight back as you see depicted on any chakras poster and in hundreds of thousands of perfectly polished stone statues throughout the world from ancient days you aren't actually working on your inner body as much as you think you are. You think you understand breath work now? Align the chakras aka sit in lotus pose comfortable with a straight back, do this and you will laugh at your old understanding of breath work.

Your bones, joints, muscles, and tendons will all be slowly adjusting their positions relative to each other during the transition towards achieving this task. The internal feeling of those things happening is something you could never really experience otherwise albeit they can be a bit uncomfortable at times until a shift happens. How about this, look up what half lotus is and start with you foot at your knee and bring it in towards your hip until you feel a stretch and then hold that position for 30 minutes, don't focus on breathing at all just distract yourself with some music or video content. You'll understand why I say you don't have to focus on the breathing until later on into the journey, just start on half lotus both sides for long sits and your body will automatically start to adjust itself slowly over time (think a few years not a few months). It's really not as hard as people make it out to be, just sit down and distract yourself for a bit. Easy. PS. eventually you can do it on hard flat ground and won't need a mat, this is a good sign of progress.
I figuring out my Limphnodes and Spine might not really be fixable but i might be able to surf if i keep a mini tramp or bike...any way I need you north shore Dudes to start riding DH and SlopeStyle Mtb and quit wasting money on gas when we need the scene started at the least

I cannot ever sit in a lotus position, let alone comfortably.
