Miss her as well! However, I think killing her off was actually a wise decision that makes her seven performances stand out even more. Her portrayal of M was so legendary that I'm subdividing the Bond series not only in "the Pierce Brosnan era" and "the Daniel Craig era" but also "the Judi Dench era".
She said she did 7 Bond movies, but can I just say that her 8th movie (Spectre) were she only had a small cameo was something I really liked, It just felt great to see her one more time pointing Bond the way. really Iconic role
She was awesome, the role of an actor is to make us believe the story could be true, she certainly made u feel the power that a real head of intelligence would have but the soft side that would make the people who work for her have a loyalty that stuck
My favorite Bond movie is Skyfall. The scenes in Scotland….unforgettable. Two broken humans bond together by love, one dying in the other‘s arms. Beautiful.
Skyfall is my favorite too! It was just PERFECT! The Perfect Bond, The Perfect Villain, and The Perfect M! Daniel, Javier, and Dame Judi knocked it out of the park! 🥹
I love when Bond asks her for cognac and she forces him to have bourbon (she actually pulls out Jack Daniels which technically is a bourbon) with her. She definitely had some balls to her character and I'm gonna miss that.
Until Judi Dench, M was just a backdrop character, someone for Bond to prove that he didn't give a damn about authority. Judi Dench changed our whole perspective of the character, someone who would act as a mentor to Bond, someone even Bond would be terrified of.
Dame Judi always had amazing onscreen chemistry with Daniel Craig. That's not a knock on Pierce Brosnan's Bond either, just a fact. Judi & Daniel played off one another other brilliantly and as much as I love Ralph Fiennes as an actor, it's just not the same with him as M.
She did say in that same Q&A that her debut in Goldeneye wouldn't have worked without Pierce (especially that scene) but she had more chemistry with Daniel.
You know when you have a great strong character......when no matter what gender they have they COMMAND the scene they are in, and Madame Judi Dench's M, did that since her FIRST SCENE as M, making any M before and AFTER irrelevant, for us and for the world there is only one M, and that is Madame JUDI DENCH.
She is the best actress there will ever be perfect in every way, I was truly gutted skyfall was her last bond film, Daniel is the best bond with out a doubt and I thought Judy and Daniel worked really well together and made some flipping good bond films together, it seemed like there was a mother and son connection between the two, defiantly won't be the same with out her.
Fun fact, even that it is they same actress, their are different persons. Brosnan's M is Barbara Mowdsley, in the Craig Era, a new continuety, it's Olivia Mansfield.
One of the greatest Bond movies had Judy Dench as M. However, we did have a female head of the security services, the highly successful Eliza Manningham-Buller. I know nothing of superheroes but I am interested in gender and sexuality. Who also comes to mind is Mrs Margaret Thatcher who was prime minister of the UK from 1979 until 1990. She transformed the UK. However, neither of these women got where they were by cancelling me but working with them. She did not negotiate with terrorists where before leaders did; she did not back out from the Falklands War. Margaret Thatcher kept her nerve. These are just some thoughts. Thank you for your critique of currently female leads as I found it very interesting.
I notice Dame Stella Remington wasn’t mentioned. The rhetorical stance of governments and their practice makes for a much more nuanced approach than we realise, ie the use of back channels, just like the oil companies!
As a 90s girl and a bond fan, I had no clue M had ever been anything but a female character. When Ralph Fiennes took over in the end of 2013's Skyfall, I thought "Why on earth would they change the character from a female Bond boss providing the perfect amount of playboy-antivenom, to a male M"?! There will the casual interaction between the vain womanizer killing machine and his reprimanding female superior go (I get now that you have to redefine such determined characters at times and of course Fiennes is a great actor, it just felt unusual)? I obviously hadn't seen a lot of the old Bond classics at that point, so in my mind, M stood for something like "matriarch". 😄💪🏻
It's more than that bond hates politics and politicians where she was more then a politician. She was someone who understands the spy game someone who has the guts to do what needs to be done and does not have a political agenda. She did what was best for the country and not the Government as was seen in skyfall. That is what bond respected.
Second best M behind Bernard Lee. However, I'm only saying that because he did 11 movies and she did 8. No offense to Robert Brown and his 4 or 5 depending on the fan theory. I like to think he got promoted from Admiral to M.
I was never a Bond fan but fid like Skyfall. It was her last Bond movie. They hurt her by telling her they didn't want her because of her bad eyesight. She cried and told noone for a year. Now they want her back because she's making more movies and theater than before even with macula degeneration. The kokes on them.
sorry, but where on earth are you getting this story from? Judi doesn't read scripts precisely because of her eyesight. she has said this on numerous occasions. in fact, I don't think she's ever read any script ever. yet, she works more than any actor on the planet. they went with the storyline because, as you may have noticed, it was a billion $ storyline, and more. and, as ever, Judi killed it. they categorically do not want her back. your statement is simply an absolute fabrication. they killed her off, cremated her, read her will out and had her replaced in the job! how on earth could they possibly justify bringing her back? I'm dying to hear your reply
I know the Bond franchise isn't known for offshoots and side stories, but I would love to see a movie about her in her youth as an intelligence agent during the Cold War. It would give us the female version of Bond without actually replacing the character. It's an opportunity to ressurect some of the quirks of the original Bond films, with young M using whit, cunning, and even seduction to get the job done while also a chance to explore the world of actual Cold War espionage.
Dame Judy Dench practically saved Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. That's how ridiculous and a throwback to Roger Moore that he was. With Daniel Craig, she had her equal. Which made those movies work.
sekereterra In the beginning of shooting, Judi was hit and didn't say anything. When she went through tunnel it got worst, by the grimace on her face. When hiding in church the villain squeezed her arm for a bleed out. She died right after. Sad they took her out of the Bond movies because of her eyes. Jokes on them she's still taking new movies on.
she was an 80yr old actress who had a good hour of screen time in a film that ultimately grossed over a billion dollars and which was, at one point, the 7th highest grossing film in history. I'd say this constitutes as some damn good screen time. I'd also be willing to bet Judi would agree.
Raising a digni offspring makes a person a servant unless they are primary orignal family. They become a servant. Amd the offspring is very used to having a servant.
i just watch this clip yea..the only time i cried watching Bond movie is when M died even when Daniel died i ddont care it much because after Spectre, he looks boring ASF
Judi Dench is a master actor - no doubt - but she was the worst M ever - not believable, zero toughness, laughable in Skyfall and, (not that it seems to matter these days) nothing like Flemings actual character. I cringe every time she appears. Other movies? Love her to bits.
daniel craig ruined the story, why did he have to come up with the terrible idea of killing a GREAT character played by a BIRLLIANT actor. Rallph fiennes is a great actor, but judi will always be M.
When Dame Judi Dench came on against Pierce Brosnan as a sexist for the first time with her uppity feminist lines calling him an old sexist Dinosaur that did it, I was done with this chick and the Bond franchise. I never wanted a woman to be the boss of James Bond, that took away from his manhood. I never watched them anymore. Beside, no one has ever replaced Sean Connery
I know that killing her off in Skyfall made for a powerful dramatic story but the series just isn't the same without her.
When M died , my heart died . Buried all my love for 007 .
@@teof99That would be a good title for a playlist
Dame Judi Dench was not the ultimate Bond girl. Bond was Dame Judi's right hand man.
Judi is a master actress and a class act. I admire her so much.
Her role in Casino Royale and Quantum is seriously understated in this video
Because Quantum of Solace is terrible and we've all agreed to pretend it never happened.

She was brilliant! Love her wit and personalality! She will be the most remembered.
My favorite Bond movie is Skyfall. The scenes in Scotland….unforgettable. Two broken humans bond together by love, one dying in the other‘s arms. Beautiful.

Some females you are told to respect, and some women you will want to respect.
And some you don't dare disrespect. lol

How absolutely overwhelming was "m", she is so mysterious and incalculable. I will always love her, and accept the concecuences.
She was one of the best things that happened to the franchise.

Judi Dench the Best British Actress who played M in James Bond Movies (1995-2012).
Perfect Woman for the role M
Great respect 🕊️
Judi Dench was born to play M
There will never be another M like Dame Judi Dench!
Fun fact, even that it is they same actress, their are different persons. Brosnan's M is Barbara Mowdsley, in the Craig Era, a new continuety, it's Olivia Mansfield.
M name was never revealed in Brosnan era
“How would Pierce feel?” lol
Who knows what the plot Will be about if Juldi stayed as M in Spectre
.
Played the role outstanding!
To me she’s the best M
How I wish I could go back to 1995
Dame judi ❤ her acting in James bond

I think she should have remained M for the rest of the Craig Era
I THINK SO TOO, CRAIG IS TERRIBLE AT BRINGING UP NEW IDEAS. HE IS AN ACTOR, NOT A SCREENWRITER.
@@melisagalvalizi6982but he didn't write Skyfall or wasn't a producer of the movie .he was a co producer of the last two.

Judi Dench as The Final Nail In The Coffin
You'd think so, but now, no.
Robinson as the narrator
Dame Judy Dench practically saved Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. That's how ridiculous and a throwback to Roger Moore that he was. With Daniel Craig, she had her equal. Which made those movies work.
She was good.
I don't understand how she died. Did I miss the part where she was shot or stabbed? All I saw was a bleeding hand. Did she bleed out?
sekereterra In the beginning of shooting, Judi was hit and didn't say anything. When she went through tunnel it got worst, by the grimace on her face.

Thank you. I'm not a Bond fan, and she's the main reason I watch.
She got shot in the stomach and played it off like nothing then later on she grabs her stomach and blood appears on her hands
So Sam Mendes wanted M to have more screen time but then immediately killed her off...

Not immediately, at the end of the movie
The Series should’ve ended with Skyfall…
Honestly, I felt Sky fall was just a rehash of Goldeneye
Definitely not, Skyfall was original in every way possible.
Other than a former MI6 agent wanting revenge, Skyfall sets itself apart from GoldenEye.
And then she did Cats....
You can still do a Lot with 11 Cents.

she was so much better then Ralph Fiennes is.... what a shame they killed her off

Well, you have to know how to be a servant. Like we know how to be proper servant kind to a digni, it's that it's below our intel grade as adults.

That was more of a motherly roast to Bond then a political statement
