  • In Ottawa, Stage 2 East is progressing considerably as work throughout the eastern extension of the Confederation Line (officially known as Line 1 and, once Stage 2 West is completed, Line 1 and Line 3 depending on the destination) advances.
In this video, we take a short look at all 5 stations in the East, from Montreal to Trim, all at various stages nearing completion.
Work at most stations is approaching completion, with finishes and the relevant electrical systems being completed to prepare for their commissioning.
Earlier this year, the first test trains traveled between Blair and are now headed east of Montreal Road Station. Testing activities will soon intensify, as the full length of the extension's overhead catenary system (OCS) is completed and energized, as well as the commissioning of the control systems for CBTC once work along the guideway is completed.
The eastern extension of Line 1 and Line 3 is expected to open in Early 2025.
The project aims to enhance connectivity and accessibility for residents and visitors in the eastern areas of Ottawa. It will provide efficient and reliable transit options for commuters, reducing travel times and congestion on the roads and also offer additional options for residents of the growing south-end communities.
All footage shown in this video was shot on May 10, 2024.

These station locations look horrible - far far away from where pedestrians could reasonably walk to, no businesses nearby, no restaurants, no shopping. Just wow. My fav is Montreal station with an entrance under a highway bridge /s

There's probably no where else better they could've placed them unfortunately

Hopefully there will be some transit oriented development surrounding the stations

Hopefully buildings taller than 30 stories for once.

Thanks for the update - will be interested to see how realignment of the 174 progresses - some lanes seem really close to the rails - assume they need a lane sized buffer

Not adding a station at Tenth Line Rd. is a big miss in my opinion

The eastern alignment past Blair is so unfavorable for that. Place D'Orleans and Trim road are the only spots conceivable and even then it's not ideal.

I will be happy when it opens and I can take my bike out to the edge of the city and head off from there. Buses are awkward for bikes...
