Nice inside scoop! Live close to this line and have been very very patiently waiting for it to reopen (over 2 years later than origonal schedule). Really hope we at least see an August open. Im fairly confident this opening is going to go much much better than the line 1 opening and 1st year went.

We sure hope so! We are quite fond of the Trillium Line and cannot wait to board those trains once more. The Stadler FLIRT will be an amazing addition and the considerably larger stations will make for a nicer experience throughout! Hopefully we finally get to ride the line before the end of the summer. -David

7:11 “OC Blue for seats” looks to me like Deutsche Bahn blue ;)

I really tried not to laugh when Michael said that, but yes, nothing more Deutsche Bahn than this seat pattern! At least they are consistent with the Coradia Lint! -David

Plans are in place should an opportunity arise, however, as discussed around 7:30, it's not exactly clear what format it would take. The Stadler FLIRT could be converted to electric operation as they already have an electric drive-train (which is currently powered by diesel), but they could (hypothetically) run on batteries, hydrogen or OCS system should funding and the need arise with slight modifications.
It also brings the question of whether or not electrification will be "next step" for Line 2 and 4, or whether double tracking along the entire line (or most of it) to increase frequency might be the better investment. Only time will tell! -David

@@RailFansCanada Complete double tracking and a catenary system would both require extensive modifications to the tunnel under Dow's Lake.

The line originally opened in 2001 and ran till it closed a few years ago without any major issues. As the setup and technology and half of the trains are the ones that were used when it closed , in addition to the various differences to Line 1, the high level of reliability is expected to continue as before.
