I got my first orchid not too long ago and promptly repotted it in compost, well it didn’t survive and then I came across your channel and learnt why, you are my go to for orchid wisdom. Thank you very much, I’ve even started my own channel now!
Excellent video! I love seeing hybrids and their relatives being compared to one another! I would really love to hybridize orchids, but for my own amusement at most!
So great that you make videos talking about responsible growing and ID! Would also love to see a video on responsibly purchasing: how do we make sure we don't buy orchids that are threatened or have been collected in the wild.
Thank you. I live in Aus and have just inherited a Den orchid. Will need to wait til it flowers to find out what kind it is! Hopefully nothing attacks it.
This is it! Apparently I have a Berry Oda! She’s bloomed for me twice and grown new tubers. This year I put her outside on the patio and now I’ve noticed she’s got a keiki growing from the middle (out of the leaves) of a stalk. Now the question is, do I leave it or separate it?
thanks for your video ! i love dendrobiums ... i don't know if this is a request but i was wondering how different it is to take care of species of dendrobiums that different from one another ? i notice you have a lot of videos of den. phals and nobiles, and i really appreciate you doing a video on a specific species ; like what makes berry oda and kingianum very similar vs. different!! my question i guess is how do orchid growers for example differentiate between the ones that need winter rests vs. deciduous, it almost seems like every dendrobium has like a personality of its own , so different from the other ; and come with their own set of care instructions !! xx
about 25 years ago I had a dendron, seeing this video I'm confident it was kingianum, because to me the most obvious difference is the king has triangular flowers (ok, I'm a bit of a math geek!) and a bit of white in the center, and I remember that so clearly it is like yesterday. but I remember it being pretty easy to care for and flowered often enough to keep me happy, and instead of growing tall it kept outgrowing the pot so I kept on splitting it, maybe because if just liked my kitchen window ! (while some other species didn't).
Great video, just before I saw this video, i had brought a kingianum that morning. How can I check it's a kingianum when there are no flowers?? How to they go with semi hydro?? I live in New Zealand in a sub tropic climate not sure how this will grow inside (normal home and not green room) but will give it a go
Danny, how would I go about identifying the type of Dendrobium my Den is without flowers? I have one and I can't remember the flower shape it had and it hasn't bloomed since I purchased it, which was a loooong time ago. Thanks for any help. ☺ Both of those Dens are gorgeous! As usual love your vids and the info in them.
Hi Dani, my den. Kingianum x speciosa "madam" lost most of its leaves during winter rest. I have started watering again and am seeing some new growths at the base, but I have been wondering if the plant can still be viable after losing all the leaves. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)
I am sure as an Aussie, I can get a kingianum to bloom. Pink rock orchids and Sydney rock orchids, and King orchids are all on my wish lists Edit: Also Kingianums can get pretty big, though they might need a lot of spoiling and getting close to natural environment
Danny is d best .! We looooove your videos.😍😍 The kingianum has a white column. While the Den. Berry oda has a purple column( You missed this difference)
Lol at calling it Marjorie. I also prefer the berry oda so it’s good to know that it is less demanding of specific conditions that I would struggle to provide. I just want beautiful orchids that grow big, strong and healthy. Some people take things too seriously with orchids
AmissusAlriandi: But we want all our orchids to thrive, in our homes; not just as in the bush, where only the fittest survive! Just because this species does well in the bush, doesn’t mean we can replicate those conditions in our homes, or we might not want to!

My 18” White Dendrobium kingianum is in full bloom and her fragrance is beautiful!!!

Very informative and interesting video. It's nice to see them all side by side!

Oh great they say Kingianum orchids are easy to care for, I guess easy to care for not so easy to bloom!
Kingiamuns are Australian so as much as you miscare for it, it gets a whole lot worse in the native bush land

💕😍❤️👍
Finally! Now Beware who call the barry oda, kingianum!!! lol
