Its supposed to do that when its locked out bc if it was fully locked out and u hit a drop by accident it would blow out your seals its supposed to purge a little air

Dead like a Zombie. It's still crawling through the forest biting a random person or two once in a while. Until my Zaskar frame breaks I will have at least one 26er in the stable.

I tried finding one of those Manitou Markhor forks for My Axum DP but couldn't. I ended up ordering a Bucklos and expect to install it later today.
I couldn't find them either.
Bucklos is okay for lighter riders, but I wouldn't buy it if you weigh over 180 lbs.
Thats gonna be cool man, we enjoyed the bucklos and its a bummer you could not find the fork?? I had a hard time as well coming up with affiliate links:(

Also, neither for nor against the reverse arch, but the designers made sense of it. I could care less which way my arch goes as long as my fork soaks up some chatter on the trail!

What's the offset on that fork? I understand the forks on the Axum is a 42 mm offset. I couldn't find those anywhere in that offset. I wanted to stick with 42 so I didn't change the geometry of the slack head angle.
My Axum is still sitting in my living room with a busted front wheel hub. If it broke on a flat paved trail what's going to happen when I take it on the dirt trails. Especially at 220 lb. I really didn't want to upgrade the wheels right away. That's a $300 minimum expense when I still need to get a fork and upgrade the drivetrain. Still on the fence whether to return it and get something else, or exchange it.
The offset is 48mm I believe. You know we don't get to caught up on the numbers except price😂.
If you get a hold of Pacific Cycles or maybe even Walmart.com you can probably get them to send you a new wheel. $300 for a wheelset is a bit excessive by the way. We usually find wheelsets for around $200 or less shipped. Hopefully you can get it figured out soon. Thanks👍

Hahaha Super Expensive? What are you talking about? We have a bunch of forks under $200 dollars and four that are over $200. We don't mess with the expensive stuff man, you are tripping😂. In this videos we have a seat that a viewer sent and we don't know how much it is, a handlebar that is $26.99, a stem that was like $16.99, a headset even though it was wrong one was $20.00, some $20 dollar grips, and a new for 2021 29er tapered name brand fork for $279. Where are we "super expensive"? We just got done installing a $80 dollar rear shock on the last video, not to mention the whole Budget Boundary build so far. I'm sorry, but come on man you have to be kidding.

Supposedly, the reverse arch allows it to provide equal stiffness as a front arch but with less material thus saving weight.

I bought and installed the Jessica headset bearing set for my Axum, and it installed easily and fits perfect. It’s the 44-56mm set. It was around $25 off Amazon including shipping.

Got some Norwagian wood 4 u diva 🤪 had my 5 flat on the rear in less then 2 weeks on my daylie 30-50 km ride lucky that it goth f... right next to my flat so just paked it and went to the store to get beer to fix it and wach this vid. Shoud have taken a pic of my brothers new bike caus that shit has usless stock plastic junk pedals. But a nice budget bike 11 speed diore and a rockshock fork . Long JAMMY!! Love the name brother:) LOL First of all very cool bike, now lets see if I was going to upgrade the bike for more of an XC style geometry I would get a new set of bars (possibly some kore 35mm rise) that actually have some rise so you are not in such of a racing position. Also look into a stem with a little more lenght and rise as well. Keep the upgrades minimal at first to truly feel how its going to be on a longer ride. I had a Manitou Minute 15 years ago with the reverse arch, the reverse Arch just looks different. I couldn't tell if it was better or not. The fork was short lived, the platform damping, a trendy engineering failure, was crap, and I about died riding that fork due to lack of bump sensitivity, platform damping? BAD. If you notice so one uses that design anymore. Reverse Arch? Still here, must be ok. I thought it looked fine, but do lean towards the front Arch just because I'm a traditionalist. I'm wondering if these will live up to the money spent. For the money I think it will be hard to out perform the X-fusion Enix, and Suntour Epixon forks.
Man we absolutely agree, we hope they walk the walk and talk the PACOCK! They are on the higher end and its gonna be hard to beat the other to for sure!! Hope they do well and we will find out, thanks Patches:)

Just want to say thank you guys so much for me giving me the confidence of buying a big box store bike! Bike stores everywhere have been sold out and had long wait lists of all the bikes I had on my short list. I ended finding the axum dp online and after watching your vids actually couldn't be happier! So far upgraded tires, brakes and seat and it's been awesome.! The chain doesn't move with the chain guide. It was tested last weekend during a small crash.
And my Fox RLC fork was rebuilt too. Next on the list are a PNW dropper post and hydraulic brakes.

I've got a set of manitou forks on my retro full squish and they feel amazing, you won't notice the reverse crown when you're on the trails

if you checked your email, you'd have 6 bikes for viewers rides :D as far as I know, Manitou uses reverse arch with reasoning that it gives a fork stiffness for less material, so they can make 30mm stanchion where others use 32mm for example, or something like that. Anyway, I like it. it is different than other ones, so it looks unique. plus, color and decals are nice too. that bike will be so cool when it's completely built :) stay safe!

my headset pusher outer is homemade too. it’s the only way to go!
Pushing them out is the easy part. I've never used anything but a wooden dowel and a mallet.
It's the compression part that's tricky. I made a tool for that though.

My experience with the Manitou goes way back. When I was a youth the village elders would periodically sacrifice a virgin to the Manitou. The practice stopped when the Manitou was slain by Theseus in the labyrinth.
I think that the Minataur fork comes with a 32mm stanchion.

I love that there is so much variety and availability in bike parts that style is so easy to incorporate. Back in the day you maybe chose your frame color and a few other accessories. Now we can all let our Freak Flags Fly! I have the same GT frame but most people would have no idea all of these Aggressors were once the same, most likely Dick's purchased, bike.

Pace was first to do it I think, later DT Swiss bought the right to it their tech, Pace No longer make forks, also Manitou also did reversed arch. Fox has a gravel fork with reversed arch now.

👍 I think I like this fork I don't see the X-fusion enix in a 120mm in 26" only 100mm and with the Manitou some say you can make it 120mm but who knows if that's true but it looks like it travels really nice on the ride video you did that I also watched.

For calipers, it all comes down to quality, tolerancing, and pressure. Your 103mm, is probably actually 100mm or slightly over or under by decimal not a whole. Cheap calipers are just for reference not actual, high tolerance is for quality control qc.

Such a great looking bike. I tried to get a 2021 Axum DP, but wallyworldonline decided they didn't want my money, so I went with a GT Aggressor Pro. You guys have helped me realize I did make a good choice in this era of bike shortages, and I can't wait to send in pics when I finish working on it. Which do you think is best ? Manitou markhor or suntour epixon, due to me beign a foreigner I currently have both options for around 250$ epixon with remote markor with manual blockout.

I just got that fork for my Axum. You can easily change the travel to 120mm by removing a spacer.
Really?? Just take off the compression cap and unscrew and remove spacer? Sound right or am I completely off?
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS You may not be able too, there are 2 versions, the standard Markhor goes up to 120mm but there is an OEM version which is the M30 which doesn't. At least that's what Google/RUclips tells me. It's easy to check and there's a video where someone changes it 120 without having to add oil back in. Pretty easy to do.

22:21 How to destroy a headtube, Please stop doing this, tolerances have to be good, and tape won't do much, you will destroy the head tube, once there will be play, the cup will move and eat the head tube.
Hahaha we don't plan on keeping it this way. Jeremiah ordered the wrong headset and didn't want to admit it since he don't usually do the ordering😂. Not sure if we will change it out before we do the Realtime Review or after. If we decide to keep it this way for a while I will periodically check the play in the headset, but I'm confident that it will be fine. Thanks for the concern though.

That fork looks goofy asf, especially with the brake cord attached around the back. Also looks like clutter could easily get wedged between the tire and that arch. Where do you attach a fender?

Do I like the fork arch being behind the head tube? Well I'll just say this; when I got my S-29 delivered in May of 2020, someone, in the *vastness* (sarcasm) of their bike mechanic knowledge installed the fork the wrong way; rear of the fork was facing front, making the arch behind the head/steerer tube. Now I was mechanically inclined (and still am), but I didn't know how to work on bikes back then. But even THEN I was like, "Okay, who's the idiot that thought this looks cool? LMAO! So no I don't like that reverse look. Not only that, but the fork drop outs were welded on crooked. The fork was a mess. I IMMEDIATELY called Pacific Cycle and told them to send me another fork (which they did, free of charge per the warranty). People kept saying it was more than likely damaged during shipping, but I still don't agree with that.

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Oh that fork was in horrible shape. Literally unusable. Some people would've asked for a totally new bike, but I was more patient than that.
The rear arch allows for a shorter arch so it’s stronger and saves weight. Your brake line has to be a little longer for the routing but we have 2 of these forks and they are plush. They are just a little smoother operating than the RS I’ve had. Great on the Smalls.
Cool, hey do I run the brake line through the front towards the rear of the crown or down the back of the upper?
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS it goes along the arch on the back of the fork, under the frame to the drive side of the back then in front of the head tube to the brake lever.

The reverse arch is cool! I don't think it is beneficial in any way though.
lighter but equal strength (less material), weight further back closer to center between wheels, weight lower/lower center of gravity, protection of stanchions from mud/debris

I just need to polish the Zaskar frame and you will have pics of two more GTs. @@rogerfloyd852 I don’t know, we run them on 2 bikes right now. No issues yet. 11YO is starting to get some air on his but my wife doesn’t ever. They have manitou forks with the -2* works headsets.
I think if you put a fender on it it will me less noticeable. For the pedals, instead of the best bike, maybe the one that needs it the most. Love the edc tool.

I think arch on front looks better but it is a distinctive feature of Manitou forks. I think the claim is the same that the stiffness is the same as the front arch but they can make the weight a little less.

@@dangerous8333 yea to some degree lol he geeks out of geometry on weight when more experienced riders like Seth says geometry and weight doesn't really limit you. He tested that theory out in a older video of his.

Really? We did not seem to feel much flex, I guess the Arch is not that favorable:)
The lockout feature on most mid and higher tier forks only reduces the travel by around 80% so if you take a heavy hit while locked out there is less chance of damaging the internals. A good fork should always have a bit of play when locked out.

No. We have never upgraded or modified any of our forks and I don't think it comes stock, but remember, we aren't professionals😉😆.
