Very cool to see this captured on film. I watched all the action unfold live on Flightradar. Many of these flights were the most tracked in the world on the site at the time. Interesting to see the Vietjet divert to Canberra and Cebu all the way up to Brisbane.
Stunning captures! May I feature the Cebu A330 go around in one of my next episodes? Of course with a link back to your original video. All the best to you!
Those captain and their flight crews are amazing in handling their birds on those conditions. I was on a Virgin flight from Perth to Melbourne on Wednesday 28 August. Perth was having some really strong wind in the few days I was there.... End result, Perth to Melbourne spot on 3 hours.... fastest flight I had been on...but when we got to Melbourne, the winds were so bad, the captain had to keep circling until we could finally land !.... On Saturday, returning to the Gold Coast, our plane managed to take off on time, but we were all warned that it was gonna be bumpy for quite some time. And that trip ( thanks to more strong tailwinds).... Took only 90 minutes !!!
G’day Brenden, 10 out of 10 in my books braving that freezing cold wind last night, should of stayed on because today Monday was also a wild day. Those pilots make it look so easy but I am sure the passengers felt every turbulence throughout the whole landing. There were some hard hard landing especially the 380. Cheers Louis Kats 👍
Flew in that afternoon on JQ665 from Uluru, worst turbulence I've ever experienced! When we turned left for the base leg over Laverton North and the wind hit us side on 🤢👍
Great video Bren. Surprised you were not blown away trying to keep the camera steady! The Cebu flight was very low before the power was restored for the go-around.
That was some great footage, thank you. I pass through the city occasionally and enjoy stopping at the northern viewing area. That side shot you captured is pretty cool. Where you on the east side of the airport, standing on your car on the side of the road ?
The drivers certainly had their work cut out... Pass the sick-bag, will you? Some of those landings were waaaay late but the headwinds would have helped the brakes... 😵💫
According to flight radar it then diverted to Brisbane. Can anyone explain why it would go there? Assuming after 2 attempts, they wanted somewhere else to land?
@@admiralsgalleon6412 I am not sure what time the Emirates aircraft made an approach to Melbourne but Sydney and Adelaide have a curfew so Brisbane is the next closest option to accept an aircraft of that size and also have the ground support from the airline available for passengers and crew. I hope this is helpful to you.

Many saw it unfold on flight radar. I'm 5 minutes from Tulla so wandered out
Great lighting and perfect clear sky on a winters night.
Thanks!

Yes that A380 came down quite solidly
Thanks! It was a worthwhile night air side
@@Schony747👍👍👍
5J 49 went to Brisbane for a fuel and go.Came back to MEL at 0530.Kept me at work for a 15hr shift. CAPT said there was 60 knot tail winds😮
Wouldn't surprise me. It was a difficult wind to negotiate
Great video!
Thankyou mate!

Not very fun! I've had a few over the years as well
Sure ain't... Great video 👍

Thanks! The R6 is so heavy, it just panned smoothly straight into the wind.
That was some great footage, thank you.

South side by the gold course on Operationd Road. All video was handheld and filmed at ground level
@Schony747 very good, thank you. I must stop there one day an have a look.
I was there on Saturday night, missed the 737-700 go around, but the wind has been crazy for the past week or so. What zoom is your lenses?
This lense is 24 - 240. I tend to use a wider angle so the camera will focus at night. The Canon R6 is fantastic at night
Seen a few go around, flight diverted to Brisbane, and Canberra . One from Melbourne to tassie back 2 melb
Yes it was an interesting night for diversions!
Certainly had their work cut out for them, especially around 3am this morning.
Yep, I was woken about 03:00 by wind and torrential rain at St Helena 3088...
At midnight it was feeling pretty bad as well. Looks like it only got worse from there
Nice capture! Mind if I feature your plane capture in my project? Will credit you. Thanks!
Sure mate. Use what you want
@@Schony747 Thanks
Great footage,Don't get to close to the fence AFP will be on to you😂
Correct! That's why I stay on the other side of the road. Air side security is the one to be scared of
what spot is this such good shots
Operations Road just before the golf course on the bend
@@Schony747 thanks man
I was wondering how the crosswinds at Melbourne would be last night.
Pretty ordinary. Not so much Crosswinds but a tail wind made things interesting
The drivers certainly had their work cut out... Pass the sick-bag, will you?

Helped when I was panning around as well. The headwind slowed the pan
Drivers? They are called pilots lol
What wind direction and strength ?
\
We had 100kmh gusts around Melbourne last night, up to 140 over water
That cebu pacific missed approach got down pretty low
The first attempt was even lower
@@Schony747 😲😲 I miss living near Melbourne airport

@@admiralsgalleon6412 depending on what time it was the other airports would of been closed due to runaway curfews

Notice the pilots had to not only deal with gusty winds but also crosswind component from the west
I'm no expert but I can see they did an amazing job. Thanks alot
👍👍👍
Thanks!
They were definitely earning their paychecks on Sunday night…. Never going to fly Cebu.
Yep! I always fly Qantas or one of the majors

Very bad
I've flown in worse.
Thanks!
