Both had a slightly different tone than I was expecting. Both were relaxing to listen to. So with that in mind I’ll choose #2, the “Eye Candy.” Thanks for sharing!
So glad you did this, it shows there are no mistakes just unexpected genius. Love the walnut with purple. Would never have thought of that combination before. Have a great week.
I'm all about the sound the 2nd one produces!! Music to my ears, even a plus that it looks so strikingly beautiful!! 🥰🥰 I'm so curious of Phil and Rob's customs !!!
Interesting choice. I wonder how it would work as cherry is more commonly used for back and sides... Still, you do see cherry top instruments so it's probably doable one day
They sound great. I wish that wider nut didn’t have such a chunky neck, though. But somebody with bigger hands than mine is going to get some stunning sound from this. And cool looking, too.
My favourite to look at is the SW-T. Can't listen yet, at work. How dare you distract me from work with Ukuleles Alex! Hahaha! 😁 Just having a little listen, I have never heard strings that made a Uke sound 'honky' before. 🤣😉Made me laugh!
@@SouthernUkuleleStore Love the look of the SW-T but prefer the sound of the CMP-T. Both gorgeous Ukes though. That purple padauk Binding .. love that on both! Really sets them off. Am jealous of whoever gets there hands on either of these originals! Thanks for the video Alex. Very interesting.
I don't buy ukes with 38mm nut width because it's "Trendy" I have a few and like them much better. I've passed on a few ukes that don't offer it. I prefer tenors.
It's weird that more than one person has focused on me using the word trendy... it is trendy, 3 years ago only a tiny portion of our customers asked for a wide nut and now players nearly all ask about it. It's a sign of an informed market. Our videos on the subject have no doubt played a part in this in the same way as other people like gotaukulele and forums discussing the subject.
You mention the satin finish creates a deeper, more piano like sound. Other than TM240/TM260 satin mahogany, do any of the other standard Millar ukes come with a satin finish?
I wouldn't say the 38mm is being trendy it is after all the authentic Hawaiian ukulele nut size. Tenors should have this width but the Chinese WILL stick to the 35mm.
Only 1/4 of the 4 Hawaiian K brands use a 38mm nut width on Tenors... The trendiest brands out there made in China right now are Flight and Enya who are both making largely 38mm nut width instruments to make the market happy. Even Kala have toyed with 38mm nut widths on select Chinese made models recently. The Chinese Manufacturers are going to be led by whoever is paying them. I'm not disagreeing with you for an argument, just wanted to give you the perspective from where I'm stood dealing with players every day.
The Chinese make them in traditional Hawaiian Nut Widths of One and Three Eighths Inches. They will of course also make whatever width is the prevailing fashionable width
Hi Alex. Seems I've caused a storm with my statement about trendy. I stated it because players like Jake and Kimo and Corey use 38mm nut widths. They should know. Ukes are so personal. Strings, nut widths, tone woods. Thanks anyway. And S.U.S.
That maple has a dragon being chased by a dog on the back and sounds wonderful.
Damn, that cedar/maple second one is so warm and rich. It sings its own song really...

*whispers - me too.
You played "Georgia"!!!!

Nice playing Alex
I like both. The SW-T a little more. I like to Heat the Kombination of Cherry and walnut

You're right, it is trendy - I prefer narrower and slimmer necks for fingerpicking and easier barring of chords.
Love that cedar and maple 😁
My perfect uke would sound like the first one, look like the second one with 35mm neck and concert size. I must be one of the 3 out of 10 people!
30% is quite a large amount...
I hope they don't stop making them!@@SouthernUkuleleStore

The cedar top is lush .
The back and sides , with the very large moth . It would earn a name Gypsy Moth .
Heritage and tradition.
Chocks away

@@SouthernUkuleleStore I blame Baz Maz!

The mango models and acacia models do too.
The mango ones are semi custom but the acacias are TA-240, TA-260.
