I agree 💯 that this is unique, for me the greatest band ever 💙, I love this band , and have been a fan of the gathering from day one... One of the greatest preformance and song just amazing, the gathering should be on the mount Rushmore of the greatest of all time,.,., Glad to find a gathering fan that hears the beauty and greatness of this song and band Eddie
Just listen to Pat Benatar before this video. Patricia Giraldo is my favorite female vocalist pre 1990s and Anneke van Giersbergen is my favorite female vocalist post 1980s.
Years and years go by and this song never ceases to make me cry. Just my favourite piece of music ever written. Especially this live version. At 7:05, when Anneke clenches her fists and we hear the urge in her voice to thank music, is when I burst into tears, if not sooner. :')
I also love this version: ruclips.net/video/Y46Lft_BZxo/видео.html Anneke left The Gathering in 2007 but returned in 2014 for her last performance with the band due to the 25th years reunion with all the members and ex-members. She was fantastic and visibly emotional, especially during the song Travel.
@@mazmoslash4049 I think the 25th anniversary version is just OK. For me, there are too many people on stage at the end. They don't really add anything. I don't really care who was in the band before Anneke was or who came after her. I like this configuration of players and the guitar is more prominent and dramatic. There are a couple others that are quite good - even the one posted by Metalwish with the 45 seconds of bad video near the start. The sound was still perfect. I think the video posted by Anthony Serafino III, also of the 25th anniversary show is better than this one. He recorded this song from the afternoon performance and there are some spectacular close-ups of Anneke. He must have been in the front row.
I believe artists can relate to this song beautifully... You cry because you can relate to the feeling of being abandoned and tormented; nonetheless, you hope and hope ... The dilemma of all time; "the artist and torment"

The Gathering is better than Radiohead. Radiohead has maybe 3 masterpieces... The Gathering is way beyond that. I think TG is the most underrated band in the universe.

One of the best shows I've ever seen, they were unknown to me. I've listened to them ever since. They opened up for Lacuna Coil that night.
It is their best album. They never reached that level afterwards.
@@gumbyrotten I seen them open for Lacuna Coil as well. Stolen babies were on the list as well and took the stage before The Gathering. Great show.

Have you listened to the Sleepy Buildings live album?
Melodic stanzas
Are symphonizing their way
Through your weary head
To feed your distrust
And fill it's mouth with the desire
To soulfully be one with your creation
Not a subject to control
You call upon a higer power
For help and inspiration
The crowd waits
And turns their faces
Towards you expectantly
You give them what they need
But their useless criticism
Makes you die
A bit more inside
Not a subject to control
You call upon a higer power
For help and inspiration
Oh, I swoon
While loudspeakers play soft music
Leaning
Over your fourtieth masterpiece
You must have loved
The colour of these violins
I wish I knew you
Your fit of insanity makes me sad
I wish you knew
Your music was to stay forever
And I hope....
I have no clue
If you know how much it matters
And i hope....

Viaje
Oh, me desmayo
Mientras los parlantes tocan música suave
Aprendiendo
De tu cuadragésima obra maestra
Debes haber amado
El color de esos violines
Desearía haberte conocido
Tu ataque de locura me pone triste
Desearía que supieras
Tu música fue para quedarse para siempre
Y espero...
No tengo pistas
Si supieras cuanto importa
Y espero...
Dulce timbre de voz
