Matley wood is now a New Forest Camping site as Camping in the forest is now no more. Come and have a look around the campsite with me and let's have a BBQ on the Cadac Safari Chef 2!
About the site......
Matley Wood campsite stands out because of its ‘nothing but nature’ emphasis and stunning location, which provides a great base for exploring the surrounding woodland and picturesque villages of Lyndhurst, Ashurst and Beaulieu.
It’s an ideal spot for nature lovers, with opportunities to relax on your pitch and enjoy nature’s entertainment of wildlife - such as deer, foxes, and birds of prey.
Please note
This is a limited facility campsite with no toilets or showers, so it’s essential to bring your own chemical toilet.
Any barbecues used on our sites should be specifically designed and used only for the purpose of cooking food (i.e. not firepits). They should be robust, secure and able to be raised off of the forest floor, there should be no damage or marks left on the ground where they have been used. In support of the New Forest Action Plan, we are asking campers not to bring disposable barbecues for their stay. We are also reminding campers that outside of our sites, no barbecues of any kind are now allowed anywhere in the New Forest.
Please do not feed, pet or approach the animals in and around the campsite; they may look friendly but are unpredictable and can bite and kick. Please keep all food sealed and out of reach of the ponies, It's 10 pounds a night (2023) check it out here = www.campinginthenewforest.com...

Very nice JP beautiful spot for this hot weather . watching this at Jackies West Wayland campsite moving on tomorrow ! A very good recommendation for first stop ! Too hot and knackered to do much but got some nice Barn Swallows in flight and a couple of bunnies . Lizard tomorrow . Nice Cadac underslung gas tank on this one but no BBQ point shame ! Just don’t get round the wrong end like horses😅
Lovely buddy, underslung are ok however they are pulling all the lpg pumps to put electric ⚡️ points in so the pumps are getting scarce, better off with a bottle now bud. You have a lovely trip buddy and enjoy, relax and welcome to my world lol 😂 have fun at the Lizard and keep an eye out for the choughs! 😎 the burgers 🍔 at the van by the entrance are gorgeous!!!! Hi Ellen! These used to be camping in the forest sites, they have been taken over by camping in the Newforest now really nice sites but they get a bit crazy in the school holidays lol 😂

Lovely site, we have the safari chef too, never used it for curries etc though, so will have to experiment 😁. Loved the donkey invasion, they’re my favourite animals, I’d have been in heaven 😂 Raven, what an absolutely beautiful soul, so good with them! So awesome and gentle beasts I was expecting one in my van at any moment! Ol Raven is a dream dog he’s such a kind and gentle soul he’s just such a fab companion we love him dearly I love the cadac I’ve cooked all this week on it I did a spag Bol on it today as my folks are here with us it was lush! x thanks for watching you have to go there to get a donkey fix 🤣

We had Bullfinches for two years but not this year we are so disappointed not sure why they didnt come back.

Hi jp fantastic bird shots loved the dartford warbler and the bullys. I bred a goldfinch x bullfinch few yrs ago was a brilliant hybrid won me a few shows ..my god how good is your boy raven around those donkeys superb temprement .love hes name jp what breed is he .i used to have an Alaskan malamute called demon he was my dream dog .i got a naughty jack russell now called MR ED .he should be a magpie he steals everything mate .another lovely site your on it looks so peacefull there .
Cheers buddy! The Dartford is one of my favourites! Done a few vids on them a while back and I caught my first one on video too to say I was happy is an understatement lol 😂.. Raven is one of a kind a beautiful soul and proper mate he’s a Lurcher the mum was a greyhound cross whippet and the dad a bedlington cross Lakeland terrier he’s a rescue/Covid dog and the guy didn’t want him as he had to return to work, his loss my gain 😁 look at my last Foxhills vid you see his mum and brother and sister in that too… mr ed! Lol brilliant name! Magpie lol 😂 proper sock thief then 🤣🤣🤣
