GREAT improvement! The whole process from online start to receiving my physical passport only took 11 day! I was astounded! My wife took several photos of me with my iPhone. The first one I uploaded was accepted.
This is the worst online tool I have ever used, from any government or commercial entity, ever in this history of the Internet. I have been trying to upload a photo for over two hours. I have taken over a hundred photos. I have put up an actual white movie screen on my wall to shoot against. I continually receive the error "Photo failed validation checks. Please upload a different photo." No other explanation. So now, after trying to "save time" by doing this online, I am going to submit a paper form, with an objectively worse photo taken at Walgreens, which will somehow be better than a much higher-quality digital photo that is indistinguishable from the "sample photos" provided on the State Dept website. What a farce.
Then Mark you obviously don't know how to use an online tool. I had someone take my photograph with my cell phone follow the instructions on the tool and I got my passport back in less than 3 weeks. The tool is supposed to be functional it's not like you're buying from Amazon.
@@markeewell I just accepted you did something wrong. I had someone take a picture of me with my cell phone, against the white wall. I submitted it. And it passed the first time. Had my passport in less than 3 weeks. You did something wrong, pull up the demonstration picture and try it again.
When you filled out all of your information and you're near the end it will ask you to upload your photograph. There is an example of the types of photographs that will work and those that will not. I did mine. I got my passport back in less than 3 weeks. I had someone take my picture with my cell phone and that is what's on my passport. It's not that difficult
@@bikerguy3338 because you didn't do it right. There is an image on the website to show you how you should align your body. It took the first photograph that I did, and several other commenters said the same thing.
Agreed. They are currently NOT allowed according to the tips in the actual page/step where you upload the photo. But this is not mentioned on any of their other "tips section" on the state department's website, so you'd have to have started an application and get to the upload point to even know that. They used to be allowed back in like 2015 when I first got mine, but I guess not now.
Don't worry. It's the US Government. I'm sure they will have all the kinks worked out in this new software by May 2029 which is when I plan to renew my passport.

Where exactly is the option to upload the photo??
I [cannot find where to up load my photos
I do not know how to up load a jpeg image of my photo taken at AAA
Agree. Website is impossible to use. Every time I cannot figure out how to log on. Hours wasted. Damn incompetent State Dept!

SAME issues for me - definitely NOT a way to "save time".
My experience as well. Customer service was unable to explain the cryptic "Photo failed validation checks."

No problems here. Didn’t need to buy anything, as one of my walls in the laundry room is white. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

I’m near the end and i dont see where it says upload
Like others have said, it rejects every photo I've tried with no specific reason.

Seems like it would be easier to just get a professional photo taken and mail it in.
I want to resubmit and can't get beyond this step
me too; i think they've beta'd the upload button out of this page.
Good photo 📸
This video should indicate whether or not wearing glasses in the photo is acceptable.

Agreed this is the worst tool ever. Rejects every single photo even if taken by a professional with different backgrounds no shadows etc. Unreal.
Rejected with every background and a professional level photo...
