  • When I remove the key, the dash reports, "Failure to remove ignition key." As a result the electrical stays on and drains the battery. I replaced the switch with a URO part others have used ~$12. Although it seemed to work the first day, the issue recurred. It's possible the part was bad, but that seems unlikely. The next step is to replace the steering lock which includes the OEM ignition switch. This is a bigger project and I'm not sure I want to tackle it. Turns out, the brake lights were staying on, so I replaced that switch and things seem to be working now.

Thank you so much from across the pond to you and your wife for taking the time to video and post it. 4 hours, numb fingers, a scratched head from clutch pedal and some choice words and the issue is resolved! Those screws are just plain sadistic! But patience prevailed and all for £20 parts. Thanks

Been trying to fit into the footwell to remove this very part and actually called it quits last attempt, I can safely say, your wife's a godsend! Congrats!
