- Yes that's right, this is the new beast for the channel, the Yamaha FZ1. Completely stock at the moment, but don't worry that's all about to change soon ;p
Never owned a 1000cc bike before so should be interesting getting used to the power, if there's anything specific you want me to try and cover on this bike just let me know. Stay tuned for the next few videos as we get the mods on.
Also a few people have messaged saying they aren't notified when I put videos out, so feel free to tap the bell icon so you get a notification whenever I publish.
If you like the video, a thumbs up always helps me out and as always, thanks for watching, peace!

There is nothing better...than getting a new bike. Stoked for you Dan, ride safe dude
Thanks dude, you too 👊🏼
i had this bike.. the engine braking is amazing.. brutal power.. slightly heavy. the brakes are sharp and precise. excellent handling for a naked. had teh sc project with bazazz zfi.. great exhaust note.
Welcome back mate, been too long 😁👍🏼 Still get everyone I know who’s about to take their A to watch your FZ6 vid 👌🏼🤣👍🏼
Haha really :D, thanks dude, appreciate the support!
Smiles over miles exactly my Friend good video once again bro
😜
Lovely video buddy. Im about to buy the faired abs version of this machine, so you've got a new subbie!
Ah thanks man, hope you enjoy it!
Glad to see you back on a bike Dan, think it's the perfect choice, more than enough power with comfort and good looks, will be a little project as well getting bits sorted and mods on it, seems to be warped discs or try cleaning your disc bobbins if they are floating as they can become siezed and jam the disc in one place and not float how they should. Can't wait to see more videos on it take care and ride safe 🙌
I think the disc is fine, but yeah could be the calliper that's the issue
Long time since I've seen your channel! I also had an fz1 for 3 years after an fz6 👌🏾
Haha no way! Thanks for watching!
I've had my FZ1-n for a year now, fantastic bike. Looking forward to seeing the mods on it. I've got a power commander 5 fitted to help with the power below 6000 rpm
Ah yeahhh I can't wait, I've got quite a few things going on at once so really looking forward to it.
I've had mine for almost a year as well, love that i paid much less than a same year/condition r1 for some serious street riding power. Great fun.
Nice bike mate, congrats! 👍 A couple of things you can try for that brake judder before spending any money, are first off clean the discs each side of each, with brake cleaner and a scotch brite pad (on the back of washing up sponges if you don't have any). Brake dust builds up on the discs over time so does need doing occasionally. The other thing that can cause brake judder is if the forks were not aligned, or done properly the last time the wheel was taken off, might be worth doing them both anyway so you know they are good. Dave Moss has good videos worth a look.
Thanks dude appreciate the advice, I'll give it a go some time 👍🏼
4:17 That giggle/grin is what it's all about
😃 I think I'm gonna even more crazy once the exhaust is on it
pulsing could be contamination on the discs. It can also cause the headstock to loosen and adversely affect your steering. Happened to me and caused me to low-side. My discs were warped though.
Hi bud how does this compare to your FZ6. Just got a lovely FZ6 as my first bike.
Just got an fz1n as my 1st bike I love it
people say 1000cc is too much for 1st bike but I think it's perfect the bike is only as fast as you ride it well technically its my 2nd bike as I have a zrx 1100 zzr11 hybrid but I only rode it for a few weekend rides shes tucked away now for a winter project
I did the same thing! I had a few accidents while learning. The first was a major one and I wasn't at fault. I was totaled after only about 6 months of ownership, but I loved it so much I bought it back from insurance and rebuilt it back to life by myself. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it, only get it a partner bike. Thinking ZX-6R or 10R would complement it nicely
That brake pulsing you mentioned near the end of video
Try getting some new break pads as they it could be near their end life cycle.
Also there may be some water dried up in the brake caliper so if new pads don't fix the pulsing the caliper needs a nice refresh.
Had that pulsing on my Gsx-S750 and I ignored it then was welcomed by a seized caliper to the disk xD
I think it could be the pads, they've still got a bit of life left in them, but might get them changed soon to stop this issue.
The pulsing comes from our floating rotors. Those round button looking components near the center of the rotors should spin relatively freely when you try to move them with your fingers. They can be freed up with a little weasel piss and working them back and forth. Let me know if it solves your issue. Enjoy the Fazer man. Congrats
I sold my zx6r 08 for fz1 2010 its so much fun to ride it compare to 600cc sport bike so much comfort really
I have a blue fz1s fazer, bought new 2008, great bike, quick enough for for the street, I have left it stock, and is still hard to beat as a all round bike for the dolllar.
i got an offer today for an -07 with 25k km on it.....so tempted.
Me too, 2007 FZ1s Fazer Cobalt blue....fantastic bike. A lot tamer to ride than the Honda Hornet 919 that I had before.
"You can tell that it isn't some 125 kinda thing"🤣🤣🤣 the fella who commented on your fz6 and said is it a 125 really got to ya? 😜
🤣 Oh yeahh I remember that guy!
Great video! Does the bike come with traction control?
Thanks dude! Nope not on this model
currently have the duke 390 on a2 licence. Do you prefer 4cyl engines over 2 cyls like mt 07 and sv650? considering a mt 07 or fz6 but cant make up my mind. what do you think?
For long rides, I'd say fz6. Engine is smoother, and when you're up to speed it's got a lot of punch. For in town rides, go for the twins - they've got more low down punch and are narrower and a bit more agile, and the vibrations are less of an issue on rides under 1-2 hours.
Hey I have the same bike! Anyways you might want to try replacing the rotor on these things as if the magnets break it can cause you some weird issues and might leave you stranded. I have a few vids up about the bike if you're curious, I use mine as a all round commuter now rather than a fun bike.
Already done 👍🏼
Also get a booster plug
What about the rotor? Where can I get it from? I am from India and about to pick a 2011 FZ1 from a friend, he said he hasn't changed the rotor so far in 32000 kms.
Hiya- I’m looking at an FZ1 this week, I was planning on test riding an MT-07 & 09 but found an FZ1 that I can buy cheap, how would you compare the 3? Thoughts? I see you have an mt07 on your channel so I figured I’d ask.👍😎
I absolutely loved the FZ1. Its a crazy amount of power but super smooth. The MT09 and 07 are really popular bikes as well so I wanted something a little different. Out of those two though, the 07 has the low end grunt of a twin, but if you want the kind of power that scares you, the 09 will be more for you 😅
@@DanTheTwoWheeler I test rode the 09 & 07 back to back on Monday, both very nice but the 09 was far superior imo, really enjoyed the 09. Now I’m waiting delivery of my 2006 FZ1N after buying it on Tuesday!
damn went to get new tires on my bike today and one of the mechanics told he had an -07 FZ1 for sale. So tempted.
Oooh did you go for it 🤔
@@DanTheTwoWheeler No i did not. The riding season was so close to done here i would have had probably two bikes to store and glad i did not because things have gone crazy in my neck of the woods due to russias invasion of Ukraine so money might come an issue down the line. Sweet bike though.
I own an American model fz1 and holy shit they are so light and powerful, I believe the power to weight ratio .26 hp per lb which is like having a hellcat engine in a Miata. These things are really reliable (the newer models anyway)
Ah wow never really looked into the stats but yeah it's a crazy amount of power for a bike, more than you'd ever need!
It's a bigger tank mine swallowed 20quif other day!
7:40 lmao same 🤣🤣💀💀
Hi, got excatly the same with an Akra on it, this bike is a beast of torque .... Enjoy :)
Ooh would be interested to hear what it sounds like with that on it 👍🏼
I have the faired version. I’ve posted a short vid of the collection day.
Ah cool, enjoy it man!
Hi mate it sounds weird what I'm going to say anyway the bigger the bike the safer you feel on it its self and on the road. What do you think about it ? Let me know mate peace bro
Yeah it's the weight that makes the bikes feel more stable, definitely feel it after hopping on a smaller, lighter bike :)
My 2008 fz1n rear brake sucks lol, not sure if this is a common theme?
Yep, mine barely feels like it does anything lol
@@DanTheTwoWheeler ah glad it's not just mine, do you know if there is a fix or upgrade that can be done
That’s how it’s supposed to feel
There's one near me for $3200. Is that a good deal?
Yeahh that's a really good price, as long as the bike is in good condition, servicing, mileage etc
👍
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Did u get rid of the 636?
Yeahh sold it last winter
Do I get a kudos for figuring it out before anyone else?
Yess! You have earned yourself a test ride on the bike (if you ever make it to this side of the planet) 😅
Is it fuel injection?
Yes all Second gens and up are. First gens are carbed. I'd stay away from 1st gens
I would be embarresed by this performance! Might as well be driving a 500cc bike. You have to get into the 8-10k rpm range to take advantage of the power and real performance this machine can deliver.
Some people claim to be a motorcycle reviewer but they’re just an everyday nonce with funds to buy a camera and upload videos, give the bikes to a Brazilian or Ghost Rider and they’ll have it screaming at the top of every gear… I dont upload much because then the local and state police will have easy evidence to suspend my license for life
Join the Facebook group. FZ1 owners.
I'm up north too, same name on ig. Can go for a ride some time. Or track day even.
I don't really use fb but I'll check it out sometime 👍🏼
Bolton lad?
Hmm
Just 127hp
Not just gents watching 🤓
Aww noo sorry! My audience is like 97% male according to RUclips 🙄. But yess I should account for all, thanks for watching Ellie 😊
@@DanTheTwoWheeler ☺️ I got to watching your videos when you first got your fz6 and I was about to buy mine. Was so good to see how much more powerful/fun you found it compared to a 125cc. Great job with the videos
Haha yeahh I think that's a popular video! Thanks for the support, much appreciated 👍🏼
Watch the rotor on these
Changed it already 😜
Had mine from new 2006 model no rota issues it's been a very good bike
You'll get a good 140 miles out of a tank and that's not exactly being conservative
Nothing from R1 engine
£16 to fill it up? Da fuq you going for your juice 🤔. I know it was 2021 but still ain't costing£16🤣
