Great tip for those troublesome handrails. Is the oil based satin the best to avoid this occurring again? Ie when people use hand creams.
Hi Tony Hough yes the oil based is a much smoother finish it does take longer to dry though !👍
Sticky paint is only problematic with water based products on woodwork (Where hands touch) oil finishes are much more durable
oil based satin is good enough but oil gloss is best for hand traffic. trade quality gloss not retail they utter rubbish
Why do you oil paint them certain bits you treated? Why can't you just paint water based satin all areas ?

if it was doen properly in first place with oil gloss there wouldnt be this problem i see it all the time as a decorator
