- - Resident Evil 4 Remake Retrospective -
In 2005 Capcom released one of the most important games in the history of gaming. Resident Evil 4 ended up not only being an incredible commercial and critical success but single-handedly revolutionized a whole genre. The third-person shooter.
But even more impressively - the original Resident Evil 4 still plays great today - almost two decades after its original release.
But even more impressively - the original Resident Evil 4 still plays great today - almost two decades after its original release.
So when Capcom set out to remake Resident Evil 4, they set out to recreate one of the most influential video games ever made, they set out to remake a game that most “best video games of all times” lists feature prominently. How do you top something like this?
And … at least to my own surprise, they did the original game more than justice. The remake is an incredible game. Capcom not only made one of the best video games of all time. They actually made it twice.
In this video we are going to take a thorough look at this new version of Resident Evil 4. We are going to move along the game's story, while taking a look at different aspects of the Resident Evil 4 Remake along the way. We’re going to discuss the level design, the story, the design of all enemies and bosses, and the economic situation of Capcom. We are going to speak about Resident Evil's replayability, about the game's amazing pacing and controversies around it’s release.

@@uwustepannesame
Welcome back Ceave. We missed you! Also, thus video was an absolute BANGER
Who's Ceave?
@@FaygrisCeave from Ceave Gaming. The channel this video is in is Ceave Gaming's second channel.
@@ZTimeGamingYT there is no Ceave here, only Stefan
@@zairagiordano3500no this is a channel made by ceave
@@SweewzStudios NO, THIS IS PATRICK!!!
Bit of a small thing but thank you for having actual subtitles that aren’t the auto-generated ones! A lot of RUclipsrs overlook them and it’s very appreciated as a viewer with audio processing issues
I'm so sorry! I can't imagine how annoying/disappointing it is to find a good RUclips video topic to watch, and then can't because the subtitles are wrong!
Probably less "overlook" and more "don't have time." I've had to spend a solid 5 hours of frustrating work wrestling with some basic edits for subtitles on an 8 minute video, AFTER auto-timing already did the timing part for me. The thing fights you tooth and nail, constantly teleports you around the document, will randomly delete other segments while you're typing, and just generally messes with you. It also doesn't disable the shortcuts while you're typing. Like Spacebar, a shortcut to make the video start and drag you forward.
@@maromania7 if a yt channel has over a million subs, they can pay for some damn subtitles esp since so many smaller yters have them
Just wish RUclips didn't remove user-created subtitles :(
@@copper803 and RUclips could bring back user-created subtitles...
For the first video, it's a pretty good work
it isn't his first video - he has another channel with 500k subscribers
@@errorphasenah dude, that's a different person, Ceave and Stefan are two different names.
@@adamnielson42yeah yeah….
@@adamnielson42If this is satire, alright. If it's not, Ceave and Stefan are the same, as stated in his most recent video.
@@ZTimeGamingYTI'm sure you think batman is bruce wayne as well huh
I love how u go into depth here! I am all in for ur next videos!
First comment on this channel. Nice.
@@jordan_cagle nice
a retrospective already? man i feel so old.
Too relatable comment.
"a couple dozen of subscribers", Ceave said, not expecting the June Nintendo Direct.
You're an excellent script-writer and have great presentation, flow and timing. I'm strongly looking forward to more such content on this channel.
Great summary of this game good vid man
I am shocked none of the commenters who found this video recognized your voice ceave (before you announced this) lol, happy to see this two channel approach :)
His voice is iconic.
I am surprised to see you here! Your videos always get recommended to me
To be fair, these games are pretty different niches, and it's only one video
wow i can't believe someone's first video is this good keep it up. imagine this amazing editing and commentary with a video overanalysing the new mario trailer for 26 minutes
Nice
It's technically not his first video, though. This is Ceave from Ceave Gaming's second channel, as stated from his most recent video.
@@ZTimeGamingYT r/whoosh
@@clipPRmusicI have a very hard time deciphering satire, but it is hilarious whenever satire flies over my head.
@@ZTimeGamingYT I feel the same, I've been "r/whoosh"ed too many times to count
what a day to be alive. getting bullied by your favourite youtuber into finally playing the game so i can watch the video
Welcome ceave, subbed on both channels. Great to see you back!
Excited for more ceave content, hopefully the two channel approach works out!
I think the main reason that people blame stuff like the actors or the testers, or the composers for things that they ultimately aren't completely responsible for, is that it's easy and simple. They see an issue, and they see a role that's doing the thing they have an issue with it and they assign blame right there. Because unless we've got someone on the inside, it's hard to know who the actual problem causer was. Even in your explanation you put the possibility to several positions like the director, developer, publisher etc. And it's likely even more complicated who has responsibility for the issue in reality.
In terms of bugs its not the playtesters' fault, but it certainly isn't the developers' fault either. Its the fault of management for pushing games out too early or not assigning enough resources to fixing bugs.
The section of your video where you broke down the attention to detail they put into the weaponery was really, really good. Bravo.
By sheer coincidence, my two most watched video genres are challenge runs and game design analysis. Great video Ceave!
I love long content like this, great to have you finally back on youtube! 😊
I absolutely loved your commentary and analysis content and I'm so happy you've returned, good luck with the algorithm!
A fellow You Tuber trying to grow I sub for that.
you don't know :D
Oh you really don't know 💀
This dude has a different YT channel with other 500k subscribers lmao
haha if only he knew.
@@Ascension721 Guess i dont
Ceave’s return was the greatest thing to come out of this year I think
I actually really like this style of content! I'm glad you found a way to not only make it work for your audience but also for yourself. Keep up the great work Ceave!
Just finished your Wind waker and Bloodborne videos, and now I'm getting on to this one.
I love the way you dissect these games, particularly in the Bloodborne video! It was so thoughtful and interesting, not to mention ending on a great note! I think you have a really lovely way of discussing these things. Keep it up my dude!
W video
i cant believe this was out for a month and i never noticed 😭 this is amazing
I really appreciate your sidestep about the voice actor harassment. I really enjoyed the video, Stefan! It's very well structured, good editing, good balance between funny and serious, informative, great views
Looking good! Especially the dramatic fight with the pole.
Oh man, RE4 is one of my favorite games on a system full of favorites, so learning about all the differences and how this new version is still awesome is gonna be a ride.
Its great to see you back, cant wait for more content like this 👍
I'm so happy you came back!
Your content was always really interesting and very well put together,
I won't miss any of the future awesome uploads on both channels, Hooray to the king!
Love that youre back and hope you get the support you need
This is exactly the kind of content I come to RUclips for. Glad to know you’re back making videos again Ceave.
Your content is criminally underrated. and not just your main channel, but this one too
I so needed this kind of content in my life, 1 hour long that is like a dream. I always love to listen to this kind of content when I am gaming!
10:43 "Please make sure your electronic devices are turned off"
Me who is watching this video on my phone: *confusion*
Its great to have you back and I cant wait for more vids
This was incredible. Not just in reviewing the game but looking into each of those small pieces and how they can't together. Even after looking at so many reviews and discussions I learned so much from this video.
I hope this channel is a success because I'd love to see more.
Despite not being especially interested in RE4, I really enjoyed this! Your writing and analysis kept me thoroughly engaged the whole time, and I can't wait to watch your next!
A lovely video! Thanks for putting in the hours and hours of work to make this a reality, its appreciated!
Was a joy to get the opportunity to hear your analysis over this.
This is like a longer and more detailed game theory video, and that is said with incredible love since I love this style of video! Has great humor, but at the same time really educational, very enjoyable, and very exited for your next video!
Hi, Ceave!
I’m sure you’re gonna get a lot of this, but I’m so happy you’re back! I’ve been enjoying your content ever since the days of your Super Mario Maker contraption videos. Your newer analytical content, especially that meanie-demonetized Paper Mario video, have been big inspirations for me to start creating silly little video essays myself. I can’t wait to see what you’ve got in the pipeline, and I know I’m not the only one.
Welcome back! Your return is rated 5 Rainbow Fuzzies!
This is the kind of content I always hoped for from Ceave, deep dives about anything he finds personally interesting. So excited to have this new channel to look forward to, Stefan!
I’m so glad you finally found a way to spread your wings creatively, video essays like this are my jam
So excited for the new channel!
I believe in you ceave, and I am incredibly grateful that you have returned!
i could listen to you talk for hours and frankly im glad to have you covering some games I'm a little more interested in haha. wishing you so much success
Feels like coming home. Looking forward to more, welcome back and thank you for all that you do!!
Aaaaaand just like that I'm hooked on BOTH channels now.
Well done, good sir. Excellent video. Looking forward to more of these in the future whenever they appear!
This was an absolute treat! Great video on one of my all time favorite games.
So glad to have you back, Ceave. Looking forward to more video essays, hell yeah!
In depth analyses of horror games are pretty rare. This video is a great look at how games create tension.
Been watching you for almost 6 years! So happy your back!
As someone who is really into the philosophies of game design and artistic concepts and stuff like that, I personally believe that your analytical content was the strongest and most interesting element of your channel and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next!
Just found this channel from the latest video and I’m really happy that there’s already been people commenting, that there’s people discovering ceave for the first time through this I genuianly wonder how many people know he has another channel?
If I could have chosen any voice to make long-form content, it'd have been yours. Super glad that you're doing stuff like this!
I absolutely loved this style of video on your other account and I'm totally here for this now as well.
So glad you're making content again! Also I love the direction of the new channel. More long form deep dives!
I could listen to your voice talk about videogames for 10 hours, I'm glad you're back bro
This is awesome! I'm super excited for the new channel, I already enjoy your content and analytical gaming content anyways. I look forward to what you do next!
I love these long-form videos. I’m so excited about this new channel!
Its amazing to see your back!
I love you're making videos again. loved the Mario stuff, so i'm sure this will be grand too.
Fantastic video. I really like this format. Please continue the great work. Thank you.
Amazing video, amazing conclusion! I'm so glad you are back Ceave, we really missed you! ^^
Glad to have you back Ceave! I can't wait for everything you have prepared of us, although I sadly won't be watching this video yet as RE4 is a game I eventually plan on playing
I'm so happy Ceave (Stefan:D) is back doing videos. I thought he was gone from youtube for good, but here I am expecting new videos every now and then. Thanks Ceave!
Love the video. Can’t wait to see how this grows in the future.
God damn you ceave. Now I have to watch an hour long video about a game I don't care about.
Seriously, its amazing to have you back. I wish you the best in the future and hope that tears of the kingdom video comes out soon
really good to have you back
This is the fourth video I've seen on your second channel, coming back to you after I discovered Ceave Gaming long ago and eventually departed for a while. And... all 4 really hit me to the core. The Wind Waker one, the Outer Wilds one, the Hollow Knight one, and now this. They all did so because they all reassured me in the values I myself have been gathering these past few years, becoming my own person and being happy about it. So it truly feels nice to see it all thrown my way like this, reassuring me in the fact that this isn't wrong in any way... They're beautifully crafted videos, and I'm really grateful. Onto the TotK one!
I’m so happy you’re back Ceave!
This is awesome!!!!! So glad to see Ceave content again.
Never played either RE4, but your writing is so entertaining anyway I've been watching the whole thing! I'd definitely be excited to see more, especially to see your perspective on games I love
Good luck on your new channel!
Welcome back, we missed you!
So glad you’re back! It made my day to see that you’re making videos again, love ya bro✌️
We missed you ceave. I’m glad you’re back
Im so excited for long form ceave content! Ive missed your videos ans this is my favorite type of video essay so im so stoked to have this channel!
Over an hour of Ceave talking about a game I have never and will never play? HELL YEAH
How have I missed Ceave come back. Thanks for the content!
instant sub, good to have you back and I couldn't think of a better game to cover!
Saw the TotK video first. Decided to watch more. Good work! Enjoying these long videos of yours! ❤❤
great video ceave! you managed to keep me interested about a game i had no interest in before hand… throughout the whole video!
"the great retrospectives that great games deserve".
The absolute confidence move. Can't wait.

extremely excited about this, thank u for all the hard work Stefan!
Im so happy that youre back ceavey!
I'm really happy to see you return, Ceave. I'll be watching both channels.
wdym that's stefan
This channel is the best decision you could’ve made and i’m going to continue watching all of your content, ceave!!! :)
This may have been the first time I've ever clicked subscribe on a channel before even watching a single video, after coming in from your other channel. Really enjoyed this one, and I look forward to your future videos.
Speaking of pacing, the video has a nice pace and I watched it till the end. Good job.
Oooh nice.
Good to have you back ❤❤❤
Amazing video as always Cea- I mean, Stefan
Fascinating stuff, I've never touched a RE game and I'm not really a fan of the genre, but this video told me everything I need to know about how great this game is, and more. Thank you for letting us in on your little secret channel and I'm looking forward to more :)
This was a great video essay, hope to see more from you Ceave!
So happy you’re back Ceave, you make cool videos
Awesome video mate, cant wait to see what else you come up with
Even though I don’t really like horror games this video was amazing! Good job Ceave!
Happy Ceavemas indeed! Love the direction this channel is heading!
As an indie game developer this perspective is so valuable and insightful. If I ever actually become successful at this, in large part I'll have you to thank.
Glad to hear your voice again, this is a great analysis
