    I just had solo contest last week and performed my first ever full piece from memory and I was so scared of memory slips! These tips are really useful!

    My advice to memorizing pieces(I’ve always been good at memorizing, stemmed out of laziness to search for my music as I’m a messy person), listen as much as you can of the piece you are trying to memorize. On the bus, car, at home studying, find any excuse to listen to the piece. Also helps you learn the piece much more efficiently as well, and gives you more appreciation about the work besides dots on a page. You can’t expect to memorize something you can’t even hum to yourself. Just my two cents!

    Working backwards is genius, because you are playing towards something more familiar?
    Mind memory is conscious, muscle memory is subconscious. We need both?

    • @SophieCViolin
      @SophieCViolin  Год назад +1

      Absolutely! We work on both until it’s so comfortable it becomes a part of us :).

    There is no easy way or short cuts. You have to practice and practice phrases by phrases...and then connect them. First I learn by plucking violin strings then use bow and keep practicing. And always listen to Hillery Hahn and kavakos and such great players to see how the whole composition sound in it's best firm. NO SHORT CUT.
    OHNE FLEISS KEIN PREIS.

      I agree! There is no shortcut. There are helpful methods, but ultimately it takes lots of practice, time, and patience.
