I can't believe we're 3 years ahead of the year this game is set in. And we're now living in the year the N64 game is set in... I want my flying taxis, laptop guns and wrist-mounted lasers. :(
I remember this game. I still vastly prefer the original Perfect Dark, but not for nostalgic reasons. I gotta say though, PDZ's weapon design was actually pretty cool. Some weapons (like the FAC-16) even had tertiary (a third) mode, where it would even add a suppressor. It's a very clever way to diversify a weapon sandbox, a lot like how Halo does. Although, a lot of them were gimmicky, I like to think that a modern adaptation of the game would see most of these modes reworked or remade into something a bit more practical.

I wish guns in video games wouldn't continually click when empty. Most guns are striker fired and most rifles don't have double strike capabilities. What does this mean? It means when you pull the trigger on empty, the gun attempts to fire and drops the firing mechanism. It does not recock however. It doesn't continually click. You have to cock the gun again for it to click.
I think it's a throwback to Goldeneye, where the guns will "click" until you reload them. In reality, this has no bearing. The slide/receiver would simply lock back, where it awaits new ammunition. As you pointed out, you would have to cock it, to chamber another round, or, just make it click again, if there was no ammunition available. This could be a interesting detail to incorporate in a game.
Insane technical showcase for a launch title, plus the guns are all awesome and animated with so much care. I like the fact that you actually need to stop pulling the trigger so the character can reload the gun.
Yeah this game is a gem in comparison to all the garbage games released these days. If games are so much better than this where are they?
