It is not only in Singapore, this can be a typical day for a teacher. I am an international school teacher, and my days are similar to this teacher's life, but we end late around 4pm. The rest, marking, gobbling food, and toilet issues are similar. The passion and students are the drive to carry on our days cheerfully.
Hello, may I know what are the requirements that are usually required to become international school teacher in Singapore? Thank you so much and good luck on you journey there!
Thank you for this interesting clip. My wife is a primary school teacher and I drive her to school. We definitely can identify with many aspects of your day. Good that you kept your sanity through cool and calming hobbies. 😉
Sorry for the late reply! Thank you for watching and yes, I really wanted to portray a realistic day in the life. You're amazing for being such a supportive husband, wishing your wife a very Happy Teachers Day and hope she gets a good semi break this Sept hols ☺️
I just started my life as an english teacher and I love that this is my one and only subject lol. Some of my days are very hectic like yours but mostly I have enough time to eat and go to the toilet (thank god)
So I'm a parent who dreams. Teachers should get free pantry supplies as good as tech companies - as staff well-being benefit and an appreciation for their labour. How can they not experience this as a basic benefit that the next gen workforce is enjoying. It doesn't make teachers teach better but it cares for the human who is teaching.

Heyy! So I got an offer from Singapore and China and I'm just weighing up my options and comparing the two. How long are your school holidays? Are the kids entitled like in China and South Korea? Do thru understand English? Is there a TA in the class with you? How often are your report cards? Are they kind to foreigners?
Hi! -Major school holidays are 1 month in June and ~1.5-2months in Nov and Dec. But take note that teachers usually have to work first and last week of each holiday. -I can't really compare as I've not taught in those 2 countries. -Yes, English is our main language for communication in Singapore. -No TA in the class with you. -Report cards are twice a year. -Singapore's known for being diverse :) Hope this helps!

Hi! Sorry for the late reply but you can check MOE's website for the qualifications they accept :) what I got was a postgraduate diploma (which is a one year programme after having a Bachelor's). Hope this helps!

The Teachers in my schools never ever communicated directly with parents except during meet-the-parents’ sessions lol. I have no idea why these vids portray Teachers texting parents. Also I assume Teachers can still go home at mid-day if no meetings, remedial lessons or cca sessions? My previous Teachers never turned up for CCA and they’re like once/twice a week only anyway?
Hello there! From what I have experienced, (as well as many of my colleagues), teachers do have to communicate with parents on a constant basis (academics/well-being/conflicts in class etc) Especially w the onset of the pandemic, teachers have to check the covid status of the child/family etc daily. While it may seem true that teachers can go home once school is over, in reality, many teachers have to carry out other duties like CCA, staff meetings and remedial lessons. After which, they still have marking and lesson planning to do. Teachers who go home mid day may also be lugging home their work to mark. It is actually mandatory for teachers to be at CCA to oversee the wellbeing/safety of the children(even/especially if there's an external coach around). It seems you might not have had this experience of your teachers being around, which is unfortunate, but I'm sharing what I have experienced/done and what many of my colleagues do daily :)
No regrets because I got to form a bond with my students and it was meaningful work, but there are many things about the industry that I wish would change but isn't, which is why I ultimately left.
