Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for putting in the work to restore the film footage! The quality is top notch and in my opinion the only way people should rewatch the ride on youtube. The DVD footage is just pure crap.
I agree with you 100%! If Simpsons was actually animated instead of 3D I would have been a bit more welcoming to the ride. BTTF could have been updated to still work in the parks today, but Universal felt it had to keep moving forward.
Amen to that! Of all the rides I miss, Jaws is the one that sticks out the most. It was such a well pace ride, I was terrified of it as a kid but always wanted to go back for more! That explosion scene was the best!
The sad thing is they literally could have taken the ride and converted it to be used as the “ready player 1” race scene ride. It would have preserved the ride , kept the original equipment and saved them money.
My favorite movie franchise, and my favorite theme park ride. It's a shame it's long gone now, but it will always hold a special place in my heart. Great Video, thank you!
I never had the chance to ride this one, but it seemed promising. Can you just imagine how this ride could have turned out had it been made today? With what could be projected on the screen and all the practical effects, it could be just as, if not more, successful, than the Harry Potter or Transformers rides. Building the whole 'world' of Despicable Me was just a waste, and the hype was just so short lived for those films too. Universal should focus more on their films that really lives throughout the ages. Hopefully, Harry Potter world never leaves.
I would take the original ride plans of a roller coaster and blend it with what Escape from Gringotts is like. Imagine speeding up to 88 MPH and time traveling to the next scene. I think that would be an awesome ride experience.
I highly doubt they're going to replace the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, How in the hell would they replace a structure as grand as a castle and what with?
I think now would be the best time to bring BTTF as a coaster, I think with the way people want their attractions to fast and exciting it would make sense.
But Doc...you have a time machine! You could go back in time and stop the forces of Universal to save your ride! While you're there, can you also stop them from bringing Fast and Furious to the park as well?
You are correct! They recently acquired a big chunk of land across Sand Land Road from where their current parks are. Here's hoping they bring back one or two classics for good measure!
Theme Park History I already know what classics they NEED to bring back (with some modern updates to the ride technology of course😀. NOT just Screens....Comcast!🤨🤨🤨) Back to the Future, JAWS, and maybe Hanna-Barbera! 😆😆😆😆 PLEASE make this happen Universal, There is still love AND popularity with these franchises! And with all that space, could you at least bring back a couple of fan favorites?! Or at the VERY least, Back to the Future?! I would die from excitement if I get to ride the time-traveling DeLorean once again! Just as I would with NintendoLand! Make it happen Universal creative!! 👏👏👏😁😁😁😁😁
Absolutely adored this ride. My mum told me once, when we were waiting in the queue for the ride, that she rode this in the very early stages of pregnancy with me, before she had any idea. Guess that’d explain why I love it so much. I live in the UK so was absolutely heartbroken when it closed and I couldn’t get a final ride.
I always though it was a very good ride and the change over to the Simpsons didn't real do much for the attraction. Always felt like a downgrade, especially with the Simpsons being 3D animated, not actual drawn like they are on the show.
And all it can get now is two photo ops and Doc Brown meet and greet 😭It's a shame it's gone, really was one of the best put together attractions in the park.
No doubt, that's Universal's Plan: Bring in the popular IPs right now, milk them dry with rides and merchandise people want and in 10 years bring in the next popular IP. It's a vicious cycle but business is business.
2:09 I've Used To Love Watching Back To The Future The Movie In 1985 When I Was A Kid And Since Then I'm A Huge Big Super Awesome Back To The Future Fan. Great Scott. Thanks Theme Park History Mate. PS I've Seen Back To The Future The Musical At London's Adelphi Theatre In London's West End This Year Just Before Halloween And It Was Super Awesome. X
Your voiceover & editing are top notch! Love the BTTF: The Ride bonus features on the Blu Ray release of the movies - brings back memories from childhood. I think it would be great if Universal had a building that was just a mini-museum/tribute to previous rides and attractions to honor their own legacy and educate younger guests on what came before.
Thank you! I REALLY wish they would have a walk through attraction for those former rides, something like they had for I Love Lucy a few years ago. It just seems right to honor those attractions that were a staple of the park when it first opened. Universal probably doesn't want to because once people find out about the older attractions they're going to want them instead of the new stuff they're getting lol.
USH had something like that a few years ago, and by that I mean a good maybe 5 or 6 years ago in the lower lot, and it had things and references from old attractions and also memorabilia from movies as well.
I would replace the Simpson ride with show technology like the new Star Tours, randomized virtual sets that the Deloreans and the riders that have to fly throughout Uni's history to fix the timeline. Anything new could easily be shot and uploading to the queue for new rider experiences, and each ride would be different. This would probably be tied into a small museum. It'll be more of a ride to celebrate past, present and future Universal properties.
Same here. I was always curious to see where all the other people from the queue went. When I was little I thought each group had their own show with their own dome. I wasn't very bright back then.
I've never had any problem with any form of motion sickness, but this ride had me ready to erupt. Had to keep closing my eyes to keep from ruining the rest of the day for the folks in the front row.
I went to Universal Studios Hollywood in 2001 and in 2023. I went on BTTF twice in one day, and then I rode Simpsons in 2023, and I heard rumors that they’ll even replace THAT! So the next time I go, it may be changed yet again! How wild is that?
You make some really great videos!! You should do The Mummy or Men In Black next. Those are two of my favorite Universal Studios FL rides. I miss this ride a lot from when I was a kid so it was kinda fun to relive it! Keep up the good work, you just got a new subscriber!
Thank you Jessie for the sub and the kind words, we appreciate your support. Both of your suggestions have been added to the list, thank you for your suggestions.
This ride was my favorite for SO many years -- I was HEARTBROKEN when it closed. Not in the least because the Ride was my INTRODUCTION to the BTTF franchise as a whole. I fell in love with it on our very first trip to Universal when I was younger, and when my parents showed me the movies -- well. I've been a Backie ever since. It was the best and I am soo annoyed they chose to replace with Simpsons. *grumbles* (Also, Disaster! is gone too?! I loved that! Hell, back when it was Earthquake, I got to be one of the volunteers to do the little disaster film bit! It was so much fun! Uggggh. . .)
I went on this ride in October 1999 and remember it vividly! the T-Rex attack was fantastically done. Still have a magnet from the BTTF shop of the universal sign and the Deloean.
I just turned 18 and in 2007 I had gone down to Orlando with all of my extended family about 12 of us and we did both Universal theme parks and at the time I had known what back to the future was and always watched them on VHS and my parents had told me stories about them going to the parks on their honeymoon and going on the ride themselves. So getting down there I was so excited about riding in the time machine but then faced the fact that rides get closed. And know that they were changing it to a Simpsons ride was so upsetting. And now in the recent years becoming even more of a super fan and the events of 2015 it really makes me sad to know that this happened.
Another great video 👍🏻. The use of miniature sets and live action elements in the ride film, gave it a sense of realism that is rare nowadays due to so many ride films being produced completely with use of CGI.
Thanks Michael! I don't think people really appreciate the work that would go in to creating rides like this, those miniature sets must have taken months to build and to film it must have been a lot of grueling work. I understand CGI is the way things are done now but there's a lack of realism with it.
This ride is what sparked my interest in the BTTF franchise when I was younger. They are now my favourite films I am forever sad I could never ride it as a massive fan of the franchise but I am thankful for the experience!
Another great video! Not nearly enough people on youtube are talking about the history of the Universal parks. Seeing as the new Fast and the Furious ride has just opened at USO, I think now would be a perfect time for you to do a video on the history of Disaster!/Earthquake!
Thank you! I agree with you, Universal is under appreciated with it's impact in the theme park industry and here on youtube. As someone who grew up on Universal Studios Florida I want to make sure the attractions are giving just as much love and attention as those beloved Disney attractions. I'm liking the idea of doing Disaster/Earthquake, your suggestion has been added to the list. I just need to restrain myself from bashing the new Fast and Furious lol.
I think it would work as a roller coaster if they used the same ride system that is in placed with Escape From Gringotts. Launching fast to make it feel like your going 88 MPH to the next time period, then having it play out on the screens until you launch again to the next period.
Amazing video. My mom took me to this amazing ride in summer of 1993. Favorite movie of all time. This video was a wonderful tribute homage to BTTF The Ride. Great job my friend in time.
Absolutely loved this ride back in day. Man the early/mid 90's was the best time for the theme park, you had this, T2 3D, Jurassic Park, the Water World live show and Backdraft hidden away in the back. Really miss some of these rides.
I really hope someone works on a VR version of the ride, I think it would fit it so well. At least that would be a way for people to experience it if they never had the chance to.
Thank you Steven, we appreciate the kind words. I miss the ride, really enjoyed the movies as a child so the ride was always another movie in the series to me.
As a kid we had watched this movie and went to Universal Studios the next week. I instantly fell in love with the movie and it’s my #1 fav movie to this day! We went on the ride at Universal Studios and I still vividly remember it! Crashing into the clock felt so real:) I’m so happy I got to go on it. It will forever remain in my memories.
I remember the last time we went to universal studios. We were deciding whether to ride back to the future or something else before the park closed. I'm glad we chose to ride bttf when we did because it turned out to be the last chance we'd get.
@@ThemeParkHistoryjaws was cool, rode it when I went once back in 2003. But I could also understand why they shut it down, there were a lot of mechanics to that ride that they may not have wanted to bother with
So glad i got to ride this ride a couple of times before it ended. I rode the universal studios Hollywood one, It was the coolest ride I've been on, n I've been to six flags , knott's berry farm, las vegas rides etc. The first time i was blown away by how realistic and immersive the ride experience was.... couldn't believe they closed it down!
I love watching these videos! I grew up going to the old school universal and still go every year even though it’s not the same anymore. I may start going to Disney lol but the old universal will forever have a place in my heart 😊
Thanks for watching Vanessa! I was the same way, my folks weren't big fans of Disney whenever we went on vacation and liked Universal because of rides like BTTF/Kong/Jaws, as it was fun for everyone. Shame the park has changed over so much and relies too much on screens these days.
Great job on this video!!! This ride opened on the exact day I was born! I wish I would have gotten a chance to ride it, looks like it was so much fun.
So much nostalgia of visiting the park from the UK with my grandparents in 1991 & 1993..... Next video, Nickelodeon Studio Tour with Clarrisa Explains It All, Eureakas Castle etc etc :)
It was purely tragic that Universal replaced this ride. What's worse is the fact that they replaced it with the Simpsons ride? It is one of the worst experiences ever. Count me out until they replace it with something a bit more redeeming.
I think you'll be out for a while then Nadeem. Just like you I'm not that eager to visit the park these days, with the new attractions being very similar to each other. Universal needs to have some diversity in their rides again!
Theme Park History Great minds think alike. I went to UO at the beginning of the year and this ride along with the ambiance seemed lackluster and out of place with everything else in the park. But that's just my opinion. It felt like the park found a cheap way to replace a great attraction. The day I went, this was the only attraction where the only wait was immediately before the ride. I guess no one wanted to ride it either. The ride itself was not even technologically sound. The picture was dim, the sound was low and the story was not engaging. It was the least immersive experience in the park. Maybe my nostalgia is getting the best of me but I thoroughly enjoyed it when I worked there in 1992 when I was 10 years old.
I don't think it's your nostalgia, I haven't seen one single comment saying The Simpsons Ride is better than BTTF, actually more people wish they never closed it. I think the problem with The Simpsons Ride is the same problem the TV show has: it's past it's prime. I enjoyed watching The Simpsons when I was a kid but as time went on the show wasn't as good as it originally was. When the ride opened there was buzz for it because the movie just came out. Now 10 years later while the entire area of Springfield is pretty cool, the attraction is outdated. Looking back on it the attraction really is a re-skin of BTTF: The Ride. I don't know what they can do to update it (projection upgrades? 4K? new story?). I think it will be very interesting to see what happens in the next few years with Disney now owning the Simpsons franchise and the tv series possibly wrapping up. Hopefully Universal finds something that is immersive and as interesting as BTTF was.
Sorry for the late response. I agree the show is past its prime. I honestly can't watch it without being turned off anymore. I think I enjoyed it when I was younger because I didn't have too many alternatives at my fingertips like I do now. You are right that it is a re-skin. It seems like the cheapest solution for a ride replacement. One thing I noticed while in the ride was the picture seemed of lesser quality (closer to SD) and it was very dim. Storywise, I think it would've been more tasteful if they parodied their own park instead of Disney. While it would be difficult for me to think of something creative to put there, I believe the engineers can do a cost effective solution if they needed to re-skin it. Look at how well Flight of Passage works in a similar manner. Maybe instead of putting a set of people in 4 row benches, they could put people in individualized seats to make it more immersive. But that's just me. Thank you for this trip back through memory lane! You have an awesome channel. I would love to see a video on The Funtastic World of Hanna Barbera! :)
I really hope that Universal opens a subsection of a park and bring back all of their retro rides like Jaws, King Kong, Terminator, Back to the Future, Nicktoons, Twister and even other retro properties. Maybe move E.T and ofcourse re master the graphics.
While I'm glad you put the video in the closing credits, I'm surprised you didn't discuss in at least a little more detail the pre-show animated segment at the Simpsons Ride which features Doc Brown and "explains" how and why the institute of future technology was destroyed. After all, you mention the (brief) homages to "jaws" that exist in the Harry Potter world at Universal Florida and those are reaaaally small. Still, another nice video, I'm really enjoying your channel!
I'll admit it: I dropped the ball on that one. Once the video was in post production I realized there was no mention of it, so instead of not mentioning it at all I included it at the end. I'll work on making sure things like that are included in the video. Thank you for watching the video and supporting the channel!
Ah, gotcha. Well, it was a good, last minute addition! I'm not crazy about either ride, frankly, but I thought that Frink meets Doc Brown cartoon was a pretty clever touch. :) Keep up the great work!
It was a cute little thing that I didnt exactly understand as a kid (or the fact I was short and couldnt see why people were laughing) but seeing it now makes it a little better that at least they had that humor about them. I will miss you BttF. You will forever be in my memory.
Good job as always. I’m likely alone here, but one of my old favs (and an attraction that never got the love it deserved IMO) was “Cranium Command” in Epcot’s “Life’s” pavilion. I’d love to see an episode on that.
I went to the studios this summer for this first time ever. We had no idea what the simpsons ride was... It was so weird and not pleasant at all. Im such a fan of BTTF and i know that i would've loved this more
Yeah I know it sucks. BTTF the ride will always be in our 💕 But you know it has been three years since 2015 and it wouldn’t make any sense for the ride because 2015 is one of the simulators
I'm still kicking myself for missing out on my final chance to ride it. I walked by and saw the wait time and said, "nah, I don't want to wait that long." The next time I was there, it was gone. The most eventful ride we ever had, the computer recalled our car about 30 seconds after the ride had started. That was definitely a strange experience, dropping back down while the film was still playing. Cast members moved us to a different car for the next ride cycle and we all got express passes for one ride.
Theme Park History I have the exact same feelings. That's why I'll probably try and get the Ford Explorer or Mercedes Benz from Jurassic Park first. At least I'll fit in those cars.
Wow! This video is sure heavy. Although I already knew most of the stuff in the video, there was something’s that I did not no like Universal once beat the sales of Disneyland. Nice video I quite enjoyed it
I have only been to Universal Florida two times in all my life, and only rode this ride once. While I enjoyed it, it was not as good as Disney's Star Tours. But what was special about that day was my grandma, who was almost 80 years old, rode on it with my mom and I and enjoyed it, even though she never saw the movies.
I don't have the chance to ride it, because i live in the Netherlands. It's sad, because Back to the Future is one of my favorite movies. Maybe you can do Fata Morgana. A Arabian Nights themed dark ride at Efteling. It's loosely influenced by the Pirates of the Caribbean. Nice video btw.
Thanks for watching! The movies are some of my favorites, they still hold up really well compared to films that come out today. With the ride acting as somewhat of a mini sequel, it made the ride even better. Fata Morgana has been added to the list, thank you for the suggestion Jop!
i would die to ride this and im upset its gone cus i love the movie etc, as everyone does, but u cant say the simpsons ride is bad or not fun it’s literally the funnest ride ever
Big fan of your work! I'd love to see a video covering the history of Alfred Hitchcock's exhibit, or maybe the history and changes to the horror makeup and effects show! Keep up the amazing work!
Much like with this Since T2 3D is my all time favourite ride I wish some how we could Fully Live that Ride, aside from just The Makings Of on the DVD Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition and the Occasional 3 Second Clips from other Behind The Scenes Making Of on other Jamie Camron Movies Special Features.
It's a shame it's gone, maybe one day they will bring it back as the original concept as a roller coaster. Imagine going 88MPH at the liftoff for the coaster?
No I was talking about Releasing T2 #d on a Blu-Ray Disc or something so that we could Relive the ride anytime we want and not just have 10 seconds clips of it in Special Features or the Makings Of....of the ride. But Roller Coaster I'll take it, but I briefer the Reliving the Original Ride.
Sorry about that, I just went through replying to so many comments I started to drift away there for a bit 😂I don't think they have officially released the movie on Blu Ray, which is a shame because I'm sure people would buy it in a heartbeat. I think the only way is whatever videos there are on RUclips.
Oh that's ok it's understandable Unfortunately, and Unfortunately I don't think they every well if we're going by real world. If they did I'd buy it in a heart beat for sure, and I Agree I kind of relived it by one of those RUclips Videos. But it's Not enough for me sadly.
4:40, The USH "foundation issues" was that the attraction was originally going to be built at the current site of Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. But due to many factors (including weight and specifically seismic), it was decided to be placed on the other side of the property where it currently sits with The Simpsons Ride. Also, it would be nice if you provided photo/video credit for the material you use in your videos. Thanks! In addition, here's footage we shot inside the Dome #1 film projection booth in 2006 ruclips.net/video/r5uqdH-hvXk/видео.html
I'm shocked how many problems they had with building at USH, just a few years later they had to reinforce the parking structure underneath T23D after it was discovered it had suffered some minor structural damage when the show was been tested. All of our music/video credit can be found in the description of the videos, including links to the youtube pages. Thanks for sharing that footage, I don't people realize how large those projectors were!
Yes, but photo credit wasn't given. Just something to think about in your next video. Also, here's another video which has some inside information from Douglas Trumbull ruclips.net/video/Z-glm-EFCWc/видео.html
YESSS!!!!! I’m famous now. Heck, You even got mai name right! Are you proud, Mom?!!! Can we do Nickelodeon Studios, next month? And thanks for uploading a lookback at my personal favorite ride at Universal.
That depends, what did you get me for Mother's Day? Haha No problem, thank you for your suggestion Gabriel. I had a fun time putting together the video, really isn't appreciated for all it did for Universal back in the day. As for Nickelodeon Studios, it's been added to our list, we'll get to that area of the park soon!
I love the Simpsons, but I dislike the Simpsons ride. To me, the bad CGI ride footage was a poor choice. And I think the ride itself is very rough. Not sure if it was like that during BTTF or if that was a result of the retrofit.
It was the one thing that annoyed me the most when the ride opening, how can you take a 2D animated show and recreate it in CGI?! I know it would have a costed a lot more but it just seems like a cheap cop out by Universal. The ride has been rough, even in the last few years of BTTF as well. Someone else mentioned in the comments that it's probably because the ride vehicles haven't been that well maintained over it's lifespan. You figured with all the ride systems similar to what have with in parks they would have been able to upgrade them by now.
Theme Park History Especially compared to Star Tours, which is smooth. I actually hated the Simpsons ride. It was just too rough and loud. I can't wonder why they didn't invest in new hydraulics.
Not going to lie, I had to think about it for a moment but you're right about the noise. When you're waiting in the preshow room right before you enter the ride vehicles it was like there was a blowing alley above.
@@ThemeParkHistory I think it's CGI because it looks better on the concaved screen, I think it also probably syncs with the movement better. Most Simulators based on 2D properties are at least partially CG.
Had BTTF: The Ride stayed at Universal into 2015, people would've found it cornball. That 2015 Hill Valley looks nothing like our 2015. I mean, granted the ride takes place in 1991, but at the same time, you're on the ride with your smart phone, watching Biff try to provoke Doc into ramming a DeLorean into a dinosaur
Seemed like a really cool ride, I can understand why from a business stand point to close this and many others to introduce something new, especially since they don't have any spare spaces to install new attractions, but to remove fan favorites can make a negative impression for those that enjoyed going tp the park and visit the rides often (Like how I love the Terminator 2 showtime, I find it to be the best out of any theme park show experiences). That being said, I enjoyed the Simpsons ride that toke it's place, and I would be eager to go back once Mario Land takes over Barney and fhe other rides except for E.T., the main challenge really is to replace them with somethong as good as the old rides, if not better than them, and so far I can say a fair amount has been good changes, although there's some bad ones too. Hey, while we're at it, have you ever been to the new Universal water park? I'm sure it would be an interesting (And pretty lengthy) video talking about Wet N' Wild before it closed to make Kong Island, let me know what you guys think!
I agree with you, if they can replace older attractions with something just as good (Diagon Alley) then those decisions can be justified. But if it's not (Jimmy Fallon/Fast and Furious) then it just leaves a bad taste in fans' mouths. I haven't been to Volcano Bay yet, I've heard good things about it though. Wet N' Wild would be an interesting place to visit in one of our videos, thank you for the suggestion!
Michael Carvahaunter Yeah, never been there but it's been on the news that Universal bought out Wet N Wild so they can have their version of a waterpark.
What happens to all of those Delorian simulators? Do they use them for scrap parts? Is it possible that the ride is simply in storage and might be brought back again?
I wish they could somehow bring these attractions back, make them more fresher and re-booted, all fans of these rides would come back, they would get loads more visitors, I miss these rides, they were apart of my childhood
They should have refurbished the ride. Updated it and added new fun stuff to it. Would have had more success than Simpsons. You can tell on the Simpsons ride it's the same ride just with new footage projected on the screen. I canceled my pass shortly after. Ripping out fan favorites and replace them with stupid crap.
It wasn't meant to be shown in that aspect ratio. Projecting at the correct aspect fixes small errors like that. There are a ton of boom mics to be found when movies hit TV in the 80's and the aspects were adjusted.
good job on the video. good voiceover
Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for putting in the work to restore the film footage! The quality is top notch and in my opinion the only way people should rewatch the ride on youtube. The DVD footage is just pure crap.
@@ThemeParkHistory can you do the history of the studio tour at universal studios Hollywood please
@@ThemeParkHistory Do you Shrek 4D please plus universal studios Orlando is closing Shrek 4D in 2022
Universal should have an area in the park for classic updated attractions (BTTF, King Kong, E.T, etc.) that the fans loved. I hope they do someday.
I'll even take a walkthrough museum of the attractions, they shouldn't forget the attractions that help shape the park into what it is today.
Universal only cares about what's popular at the time for kids I'm sure if you ask any young kid what back to the future is they wouldn't know.

For me it's a tough call, but in my opinion this was the greatest theme park attraction of all time. I still miss this a lot.
I rode it in 2003. Many, many times. It was absolutely AMAZING. Utter insanity they shut it down.
I always though it was a very good ride and the change over to the Simpsons didn't real do much for the attraction. Always felt like a downgrade, especially with the Simpsons being 3D animated, not actual drawn like they are on the show.
Still can't believe they canned this. Was in the top few attractions in all of Orlando! :/
@@ThemeParkHistory it's at Singapore
I wish it was still there. Never got to ride it, Back to the future is my favorite movie.
One of my favorite trilogies I've ever watched.
Disney's ill-fated Studio Backlot tour, please? My family loved it back in the day
Now that is very interesting, I never thought about that attraction. It's been to our list, thank you for the suggestion!
That would be a great idea. I can't find anything about it on RUclips.
I was just about to suggest this! Please, make it happen.
@@ThemeParkHistory back to the future the ride can be found at universal studios Singapore
I do remember looking out at the other DeLoreans! I was such a curious kid!
Same here. I was always curious to see where all the other people from the queue went. When I was little I thought each group had their own show with their own dome. I wasn't very bright back then.
7:19 microphone mishap in top left😂 !! The days when people didn’t notice these things.
I CRIED when they removed BTTF! Our family visited the park every weekend on the last month to ride BTTF. ☹️😭
I've never had any problem with any form of motion sickness, but this ride had me ready to erupt. Had to keep closing my eyes to keep from ruining the rest of the day for the folks in the front row.
I never went back to Universal Studios again after they closed it down.

Uggggh. . .)
I was just at Universal Florida. Took pictures of the Delorean and the train. Didn't care to ride the Simpsons ride, too bad it wasn't still BTTF!
Still one of my favorite photo ops in the park. Was Doc Brown riding around the area when you were there?
They should bring it back periodically, even with the Simpsons theming you could still run the film and have the seats programmed
I went on this ride in October 1999 and remember it vividly! the T-Rex attack was fantastically done. Still have a magnet from the BTTF shop of the universal sign and the Deloean.
This was such an incredible ride. It's a shame it's gone.
I'm A Huge Fan Of Back To The Future. Thanks Theme Park History Mate. X
Theme Park History you should do Jurassic Park.
They should do a BTTF rollercoaster like Rock in rollercoaster at Disney. It would be epic to blast off from Hill Valley and jam to Huey Lewis!
I think it would work as a roller coaster if they used the same ride system that is in placed with Escape From Gringotts. Launching fast to make it feel like your going 88 MPH to the next time period, then having it play out on the screens until you launch again to the next period.
Absolution GT that. Is. The. Best. IDEA. EVER!!!!
Five year old me in 1993 noticed the dome and the other cars. Still, was an amazing ride that I wish I could experience again.
I really hope someone works on a VR version of the ride, I think it would fit it so well. At least that would be a way for people to experience it if they never had the chance to.
Really enjoying all your videos! My favorite ride of all time! I miss it so much!
That's been one of the thing that irks me the most, never getting one final ride on most of the attractions I grew up with (Jaws, Kong, BTTF).
@@ThemeParkHistoryjaws was cool, rode it when I went once back in 2003. But I could also understand why they shut it down, there were a lot of mechanics to that ride that they may not have wanted to bother with
Wow!!! This is an amazing breakdown. I just relived my childhood. Thanks!!
Watching this made me depressed af 😭
Bring back BTTF ride.
Where's Doc and his Delorean when you need him? He can go back in time and stop BTTF from ever closing.
10:41 reminds me of the big billboard signs all over orlando along with jaws and king Kong. I miss the simple days
"replaced by The Simpsons Ride, based on the animated sit-com The Simpsons."
Ohhhhhh, THAT The Simpsons, thanks for clearing that up.
Great job on this video!!! This ride opened on the exact day I was born! I wish I would have gotten a chance to ride it, looks like it was so much fun.
Very cool video. Love this ride. One of the best. Thanks for the share.
It was a nice callback to the original attraction, wish more attractions would have that to be honest.
I refuse to go on the Simpsons ride because I'm still upset it was taken out.
Can't argue with you on that one, you're probably doing yourself a favor not going on it 😂
Elizabeth the simpsons ride sucks compared to back to the future ride
I went to the studios this summer for this first time ever. We had no idea what the simpsons ride was... It was so weird and not pleasant at all. Im such a fan of BTTF and i know that i would've loved this more
Yeah I know it sucks. BTTF the ride will always be in our 💕 But you know it has been three years since 2015 and it wouldn’t make any sense for the ride because 2015 is one of the simulators
I mean....it's a ride based on a movie about time travel so the years don't really matter much when it comes to believably.
Jesus... Jesus Christ, Doc!
Wait, Doc. So, You're telling me, They built a Time Machine out of A Delorean?!?
It's a still a goal of mine to own a Delorean, even if I heard it's a bit tight for taller people to fit into.
Theme Park History
I have the exact same feelings. That's why I'll probably try and get the Ford Explorer or Mercedes Benz from Jurassic Park first. At least I'll fit in those cars.
The Mercedes Benz from The Lost World? Such a nice car but terrible for the location they were in.
Theme Park History
A very pretty car, Can't do off road.
How about Alfred Hitchcock Presents? Not sure if anyone else gets nostalgia from these. But they're great. Thanks for doing them.
The Ghostbusters show, the Murder She Wrote show, the special effects showcase. So good.
Not going to lie I cried when universal took it down my favorite ride ever
I remember going to Jaws, ET, King Kong, BTTF and Earthquake rides, back in 1991... Good old memories. =/

Wow! This video is sure heavy. Although I already knew most of the stuff in the video, there was something’s that I did not no like Universal once beat the sales of Disneyland. Nice video I quite enjoyed it

Simpsons isnt even that good. I wish i could have gotten on the Back to the Future ride. What a travesty.
I liked it when it first opened by I agree that The Simpsons Ride doesn't compare to what BTTF was.
Joel A yes but its past 2015 and it would be outdated
It’s funny. When you say the Simpsons isn’t even that good, it could mean either the ride or the show
@@RyanLBrown9396 yeah I meant the ride. It’s okay but it’s my least favorite.
This ride still lives on in a Social App/Videogame called VRChat (works with and without VR headset), and it's actually quite fun.
Maybe in the future in californa they have to bring it back. The Back To The Future ride will comeback behind the Simpsons ride.

Phantom Theater dark ride that was at King's Island
The Phantom Theater has been added to the list, thank you for your suggestion Sir Isaac.
We need a back to the future coaster! Think an indoor velocicoster. The launches could be jumps in time. It would be crazy!!!
i would die to ride this and im upset its gone cus i love the movie etc, as everyone does, but u cant say the simpsons ride is bad or not fun it’s literally the funnest ride ever

Great overview of this ride. I miss the day of practical effects...

Ride sucks
It is an opinion
I used to buy season passes to Uni every year. Then, all the best rides started shutting down, one by one. I haven't been back since 2010.

And thanks for uploading a lookback at my personal favorite ride at Universal.

Still my favorite film and also my favorite ride. Well done!
The original ride was notoriously rough. Had a tendency to bang people’s heads against their seats.
I'll never forget this ride🙏😪
Big mistake of replacing back to the future the ride to the simpsons ride and I say the ride must come back.
WHO'S WITH ME?
I AM
Had BTTF: The Ride stayed at Universal into 2015, people would've found it cornball. That 2015 Hill Valley looks nothing like our 2015.
I mean, granted the ride takes place in 1991, but at the same time, you're on the ride with your smart phone, watching Biff try to provoke Doc into ramming a DeLorean into a dinosaur
Please do one on the Funtastic World of Hanna Barbara.
The Funtastic World of Hanna Barbara has been added to the list, thank you for your suggestion David!
Nice video, this was definitely one of my favorite rides there.
Thank you Kyle! Loved the movies growing up and the ride really felt like somewhat of a sequel. It's a shame it's not around anymore.
I know it has been done but I feel like you could do a good job. Could you do Six flags New Orleans
Six Flags: New Orleans has been added to the list, thank you for the suggestion Austin!
This was my absolute favorite as a kid.
Skull island didn’t replace wet n wild, completely different location.
Michael Carvahaunter No, it actually did. I live in Florida and Skull Island replaced Wet N Wild.
Caboose Wannabe Do you mean volcano bay?
Michael Carvahaunter Yeah, never been there but it's been on the news that Universal bought out Wet N Wild so they can have their version of a waterpark.
What happens to all of those Delorian simulators? Do they use them for scrap parts? Is it possible that the ride is simply in storage and might be brought back again?
I'm so glad I got to go on this ride once before it closed.
I used to watch you all the time glad I found your channel again
Boom mic at 7:20.
Oh snap! Good catch. I'm surprised they went with that take, they figured no one would catch it lol.
Krillinish2 noticed that too
It wasn't meant to be shown in that aspect ratio. Projecting at the correct aspect fixes small errors like that. There are a ton of boom mics to be found when movies hit TV in the 80's and the aspects were adjusted.
There's also a giant soda cup at one point since someone left it on the miniature and they didn't notice when they filmed the scene.
Greatly enjoy your channel. Thank you!
No, thank you for the kind words Brandon, we appreciate it.
