correction, the initial setting is basically an alternate harry potter. The story, the world building, and character development, go all in very, very different direction.
I agree that the original setting look a lot like HP. But the direction of the story, the characters’ developments, the universe building… everything is very different. Season one only scratches the surface of this world. I just read a translation of volume 13, and it’s wild. The story keeps on doing 180°, doing stuff absolutely evil yet masterfully brought up. It’s similar to HP in only a superficial way. The more you delve into the story, though, the more you realised it’s very different (ex: the whole reversi thing that is being realistically and consistently adressed throughout the serie)
Amazing song and amazing animation. The producer/director must’ve heard the song and their mind exploded with ideas and this amazing opening happened. I’d love to see the storyboard for this.
This show is getting better with each episode. I hope it continues to improve, because the first episode had so many overused tropes it was ridiculous. I stuck around for the art and it’s turning out to be genuinely interesting.
What this anime does and what Harry Potter fails to do is the impact of choices and consequences of those choices - this is likewise in regards to the actions of others in the school, where it’s implied magic and consequences in Harry Potter, in this anime you are made aware of the danger on the first day…more importantly you are as likely to die in the labyrinth as you are at the hands of your fellow classmates. And it explores the idea of the MC choosing vengeance and using everything he has to achieve it. And he isn’t OP because the plot demands it, he’s is what he is due to the plot.
Nanao is Inuyasha 😂 This show boarding school with magic like Harry Potter. I love the art style. For the first 4 episodes it is missing a true villain.
@@RoyerMZ an S2 would not complete the story at all. With 3 volumes adapted in 15 episodes, you would probably need about 100 more episodes to finish the story, not just 15 more.
I don't know about this show, but there is such a thing as an ensemble cast with no true main character or even a pair of main characters. For example, who's the main character in the sitcom "Friends" or any version of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (and no, the leader of a team is not necessarily the main character by default)?
Nanao looks like the mc. She's a die hard warrior by nature. But if you read the LN her and Oliver realised their full potential working together as duo. She doesn't know magic so Oliver made up for that.
Nah the pacing is okay. What's wrong is the direction. Only episodes 4 and 5 finally managed to feel like what the series is supposed to be kinda like. Episode 1 troll scene and whole episode 3 were AWKWARDLY ADAPTED.
