I completely agree. I think Gen would have such a thought provoking, but relatable podcast. Candid, open, but widely approachable. She has a way of making people feel comfortable, while being informative and sincere. I would listen the hell out of her podcast.

This is actually really awesome. I mean, I'm 15 and no one in my life has had open conversations with me about intimacy in the way you guys did and I honestly feel like that is immensely important. You're doing an amazing job with those kiddos, Gen. They're all gonna grow up as great humans💞

We just had the sex talk with my daughter. She was 8 at the time. She was talking about something that she saw on line related to sex, and we thought that would be a good time to discuss it with her. We are like you and Jared, in that we are a very open and honest family. It really wasn’t uncomfortable. And we covered a lot such as the best way to be safe is abstinence, but that we also aren’t stupid so if you should decide to have sex to take precautions and come to us so that we can revisit topics and just talk about it. The one thing I never thought to talk to her about was porn. So we will have to have a convo about that. Thank you for this Gen.

    • @vlaicurabca6987

It's not normal to talk about sex with you kid when he's 8 years old, he needs to be atleast 12 imo, cuz if you put that stuff into her head when she's really really young you just motivate her more to be a pornstar, I mean idk I'm 15 but if I will have a kid I'll certainly not talk about it when she's so young

    • @CattIsANerd
      @CattIsANerd 6 лет назад +6

@@vlaicurabca6987 That is one of the most ignorant comments I've EVER seen. Where the hell did you read that having the sex talk with an 8 year old will motivate them to be a pornstar? What the actual fuck is wrong with you? You have a lot of growing up and learning to do if you actually believe that bullshit. She is HER child, and if she wants to talk to her about it at such a young age, then that is up to HER and nobody else. You get to decide when and IF you ever have children. But don't you dare tell other people how to parent their kids, when you clearly don't know shit about parenting...

    • @Ninibug8325
      @Ninibug8325 6 лет назад +2

@@CattIsANerd Just skimmed through this conversation but maybe what's wrong with the person is they are 15?.... Everyone is open to there own opinion even if you don't agree with it. No it wouldn't turn a child into a porn star but no need to go off on them for saying what they think. And no they don't know anything about parenting because once again, they are 15. My opinion though.

Talking about sex with children from a young age is so important. It can help them not only in adulthood but you can also help them be protected from child abuse. A lot of abused children do not come forward because they literally don't know how to talk about it, don't even know what happened to them until they're much older., or because they're embarrassed by what happened or think they've done something wrong. Teach your children proper body parts names and about sex and intimacy and privacy.

Oh Gen! This *GODDESS* you interviewed was amazing and had a wealth of information and knowledge on a subject that I personally always found taboo. I grew up in an Irish Catholic household where sex was not to be discussed no matter what and truth be told, I don't think I was ever given "the talk". I managed to save my virginity til marriage because I knew how fertile I was and didn't want to take the risk of getting pregnant before I was ready (both maturity-wise and financially). My husband has been so supportive in my own sexual journey and I couldn't have picked a better man to father my children with. Thank you to you both for this awesome video! I learned quite a bit

Great job Gen.. I'm 52 and was brought up the old ways as my mother was a single older mum of 45 when she had me.. in other words. No sex until marriage! I was 23 when I disobeyed her. I missed out on so much! When I had children I chose to be different. I never hide anything from them if they asked I was open as I could be and they now still as adults will talk very candid about anything including sexto me. This is part of life and one of the bonuses in living. Let's not shame it and bury it like it's dirty secret. Love your videos. Well done your a great mom. X

This discussion was nothing like what I envisioned it would be when I clicked play. I love the idea of sexual values and thinking about it I’m actually quite lucky that I instinctively set myself high values from a young age but I had lots of friends with seemingly little to no values concerning sex and at that time I just didn’t haven’t the vocabulary to help but perhaps if their parents had been able to provide guidance about sex and values surrounding it, they may have made better choices growing up.

I'm a kindergarten teacher, so I take quite a lot of advice from this video. I already started a while ago to teach those kids to treat their genitals like other body parts and stopped using "nicknames" for them. I think it's important to give the children an open mind about this when they are young, bc they will feel pudic about it anyway in a certain age. Everyone should be able to talk about it in an open way, especially if something feels odd or wrong. Thanks a lot for this video. ♥

My friends and I discussed sex, masturbation, porn, mental health etc for about three hours this evening. It’s so important to me that I’m able to have those conversations with people and I thank my friends who opened me up about it all a few years ago. It was important to me when I started university last year that I made new friends and passed on this ability to have an open, honest conversation. It can be awkward at first but it’s so important to normalise these ideas. Just a few months later and we are able to discuss anything and everything. My parents never had these discussions with me and so everything I have learnt has been through my friends and the internet. Thank you, Gen, for opening up this conversation to more people. It’s the only way to break down these harmful taboos and the stigma around these topics. Lots of love and respect for you. 😘 xx

An incredible conversation and topic, I loved hearing every single part of it because I work with children in this age group. It has been very difficult to stay calm when such topics arise because of the impact the social media and society has on it. I also find that I sort of live of the edge of this because I have to constantly think about the making these conversation seem natural but to draw the line because I am a caregiver not a parent. Not to mention to stand in adherence of the people and school that I work for. I wish I get to see and hear more about topics such as this. I would mean so much if there was one also about mental health? Thanks a ton for this!

With media, the age of exposure to sex is gradually lowering. I was exposed when I was 10 when a boy put on porn on his phone in the back of class. I knew what it was but since that was the first “encounter” to sex, I thought that was how it was supposed to be. When I first had sex in high school, it was a disappointing experience because I only knew what sex was, not making love. No one ever gave me the talk, and I think this movement is very important because it should be okay to talk about and teach young people that what we see on porn is not real. Sex is a spectrum that involves generosity and love in the bedroom (or any other room). Hopefully we live in a world one day where people are comfortable enough to talk about it

I loved listening to this conversation! I specifically connected with two things that had me yelling "Yes!" at my computer.
Firstly - I'm Cindy's age and I'm usually coy about saying my age, although I never lie about it. I like her (and Gen's) decision of saying her age as often as possible and I'm going to start simply saying the number instead of doing everything I can to not say it.
Second - There is nothing sexier for me than watching my partner become completely sated and satisfied from our time together!! I always feel like that's my job and only then can I worry about achieving my own satisfaction. I know that maybe I need to work on my control issues, but this talk gave me a more positive view of my need to satisfy my man!
I've never heard of Cindy Gallop before but I'm going to look into her efforts now. Thank you,
Genevieve, for bringing this fascinating lady to my attention!

I'm not sure about the MLNP tv website, but I agreed so much with everything you discussed about the role of sex (and I mean love and enjoyment by both parties to the sex acts) in society, and the disturbing influence exerted by media and internet porn, that skews people's ideas of reality.

I love the part about values. I agree, most of us weren't raised with those values on sex specifically. My dad raised me on principle, so for me all the lessons I learned I applied to all aspects of my life. Communication is so important in general, but specifically in sex. Honest, like watch 'two night stand' it's a movie about this couple who has a planned one night stand and they end up stuck at the girls house. They have this real and honest conversation about sex, and things they like and dont like. To me that's important. I think people should have honest conversation with good intentions. Like to build a more intimate and pleasurable experience for them both.

I could spend hours listening to this! I think it is so important to talk about sex, about consent, sexuality, and everything that is related to sex.
I wouldn't say I am extremely experienced since my young age, but I don't think there is an age to talk about sex, I mean yes, you are not going to talk about kinks and fantasies with a 5 years old but you should teach them that no is no, that if they don't like something they should say it. I am in a religious school and sex is a huge taboo there, if kids start to talk to the other gender, people would watch them really closely ( creepy, I know right?) and I think it is not healthy. We should talk about protection instead of saying that if you wait until marriage you would not get diseases ( some of my classmates still think this is true...), talk about consent and sexual orientation. I am bisexual and normally don't really hide it, but i feel somewhat scared and don't want some people to know it... and that's fucked up!
There is also another subject that is a big taboo in today society: masturbation.
I don't really understand why, but people get really weird when this subject is brought up. If it is done properly and safely, masturbation is good for you ( relieve stress, boost confidence etc..)! It is especially taboo for women , why ? We are human and we have needs too !
Anyway, i think that i could spent hours talking about sex but i think you got my opinion.
By the way Gen, I would loved if you made potcasts !!!! You and I share a lots of point of view and I would love to hear some of your thoughts about random subject !

Also the fact is I would learn alot and it would be challenging for me diving into topics that I don't talk about. It's not everyday we see a wife of a famous actor that is very honest and open about topics that most women shy from. Danneel would be brilliant on it too just because she can give her view on things speaking as a woman.

I have more questions than answers..like how do you teach your kids how to have sex manners? Because their are children like you don't want them to have sex to early or think about sex to early. I feel like that statement is very hard to do. I wish their was a book telling us how to make sex into your everyday values when it comes to kids. Raising kids are very hard bc you have to try to teach teach good values about life, death, religion, heath, hygiene, mental heath and etc it's so hard to add sex into that equation but obviously it's needs to be done.

I’ve been with my husband for 12 years and I e never had an orgasm not once and I don’t know why I’m so petrified to tell him what I need because I’m fine by myself so I know there is nothing medically wrong

I respect that youre open about that. What is it that you need.? Maybe try using a vibrator?

Well, I'd have to say that whatever you're doing when you're by yourself? You'll have to bring that into your relationship. Have you been 'faking it' with your husband?

I really wish there was some sort of asexual consideration, not everyone will grow up to want sex.

While i think that talking and being open about sex is ok. I also feel like you’re putting too much pressure on yourself about talking to your son about it now. He’s only 6. Let it be natural and let him enjoy just being curious and a boy. With due time you will know when and how to talk to him about it.

I mean, he's HER child. It's up to her when and if she talks about it with him. Nobody else.

gen, can you stop saying "girlfriend." Women using that word to mean "friend" just makes life harder for us lesbos. Thanks, babe 💕
