I'm laughing so hard at every comment questioning why this guy isn't sweating and claiming it's not 'real' Sanchin. This guy is the late Master Shinyu Gushi, of the Ryukokaku Karate and Kobudo school. He studied under Kanei Uechi himself. For various reasons, his karate did not inherit the right to use the Uechi name, but it is in fact Uechi-Ryu about as authentically performed as possible. He taught old-school Uechi and kobudo in the US between 1988-2012 and his son carries on the tradition. The RUclips channel MrTorend has many more videos showing Master Gushi's karate-do.
All of Gushi Shinyu’s Uechi Ryu instructors were direct pupils of Uechi Kanbun. He was the only Okinawan master to reside in the U.S. and fortunately his son Tsukasa still continues to teach.
Igal Flint: True, there's no "kind of", but there _are_ different definitions for the same term. "Dynamic Tension" was originally a legally-protected term for the Charles Atlas exercise method. No other commercial entity could call their method "Dynamic Tension" without permission from Atlas. It may still be legally protected from competition, but it also has a generic meaning: Resistance of one muscle group against another. There's obvious dynamic tension in this exhibition; a form of exercise that existed long before the commercial term was invented.
kata forms are practiced by different karate or martial arts style each style have their own manner, interpretation and emphasis of how it should be done and in like manner that no two persons can perform the same in exactly the same way...learn the kata in any style and practice as you deem fit, as a martial arts, sport or as a form of physical exercise...never mind what others think...
This may not be one of the best videos of Shinyu Gushi Sensei on Sanchin. There are atleast 2 more which shows the tension and he testing shime on his students.
Dynamic tension has evolved: The harder you contract both the prime-movers & the opposing muscle group, the slower this will cause you to move. If you contract extremely hard, (as you eventually should), for 90 seconds minimum, (as you eventually should), breathing will soon NOT be in sync with movement; you'll need to pant relatively rapidly, as if you're running. If this doesn't; occur, you're not working as hard & long as you could, & as you should, to build as much strength as possible.
Takeshi Miyagi That was Kanbun Uechi taught by master Shushiwa. Although sanchin was his main kata for 3 years, he was still taught other things as well
Yeah man Shinyu Sensei has Karate lineage tracing back to Southern China. ShuShiwa (Chinese), Uechi Kanbun(founder of Uechi Ryu), Uechi Kanei (kept Kanbun's teachings going), and then this guy, Gushi Shinyu sensei.

Those people are foolish to question Shinyu Sensei. This guy is legit af. Cool to be aware of his son carrying on the tradition.
RUclipss full of know of it alls who done very little with their lives and come online to critique or gossip about other men.

In sanchin, you have to tense your muscles in sync with your breathing, so it is dynamic.

I HEARD ONE SENSEI ONLY MADE HIS STUDENTS DO SANCHIN KATA FOR 3 YEARS UNTIL THEY MASTERED IT!!!

That's the traditional "real way" to properly learn sanchin.
Takeshi Miyagi Gichin Funakoshi said that he had to spend 9 years to master the three Naihanchi/Tekki kata.
@@TKDLION Shorin Ryu use Naihanchi as if it were Sanchin, slaps and all.
@@jakezocco1073 yup that's what the OGs did.
Guy got a Bruce Lee body.
sensei you closely resembled my father when he was yet alive!
The way this karate-Ka moves, is very simaler to iron ring hung gar Kung-fu. Maybe it's the style of karate he does.
Tiger Crane Kung Fu, also k own as Hung Gar, also utilizes the Sanchin Kata.

i teach dynamic tension since 1977. i know what dynamic tension is and what isn't !
How it is
wheres the breathing? wheres the tension? why is he not sweating from the supposed tension?
I hate it when i cant find a proper sanchin demo n youtube
Old age, or disease, most likely.
having big muscles isn't the same as knowing how to use them, and yes you're right Ramin2340 he isn't sweating cause this isn't a proper sanchin kata
there is no "kind of" it is or it isn't !
this has nothing to do with dynamic tension
do I the only person who thinks that his skin will fall off
