Taira Masaji Sensei explaining some important points in Goju-Ryu's Sanchin kata. For DVDs featuring Taira Sensei's method go here: goju-carlsbad.zenplanner.com/...
Thanks for the feedback. I don't know what his plans are, however we continue to document his always evolving body of work with our DVDs; and quite honestly because his karate is constantly evolving he doesn't seem that motivated to "set things in stone" in media, whether it be books or video.
It's actually incredibly difficult to find comprehensive knowledge like this, (short of training in person at a good school.) I am mainly self-taught, and it's actually very gratifying to have discovered some of the nuance on my own, whether out of necessity or the pursuit of practicality, then have it validated later in videos such as this, by a master. I am realizing more and more how much effort the original Okinawan masters put into perfecting their art.
That's wonderful. If you're ever looking for a more extensive dive into this kata we have an instructional video here: gkcglobalshop.com/products/sanchin-kata-pre-order-instructional?_pos=1&_sid=f4098ab60&_ss=r
I was practice Shito ryu for years and also Mushindo Kempo and Chinese and Indian Yoga.I also learn Gojo ryu Sanchin. Now my doghter has Hushimoto tyreoditis. When he feel presure in chest, neck where tyroidal glans is and also tension in all body, I do Sanchin seqences and breathing with my doghter. And after this syptoms stoping.
@@GKCgoju Tnx. In Shito Ryu Sanchin, kime is not in phase of inhalation (body is relax) , only in exhalation phase kime progresive rise to the end point of punch when is maximum kime . In that moment kime is in all body, and on the end of exhalation the lower part of the belly 2 cm below the navel goes out, pelvis up. In Mushindo Kempo Sanchin is with open hand.Sorry for my bad English.I am from Croatia.
Regarding Sanchin, health and blood pressure please take a look at the article "Sanchin from a western medicine perspective" by M.W. Lawson: www.olemiss.edu/orgs/karate/sanchin.html
Old message, I know, but Jigoro Kano, the man who instituted the use of the Belt system, never wore his belt "correctly" either. Don't fret over the belt. It's there so you know where you are in the curriculum and so the teacher knows your general skill level when pairing you up for drills and sparring. So long as it isn't coming undone, it's no big deal.
Because belts don't mean shit. This guy doesn't normally train with a belt, fyi. He just throws one on when he's doing these seminars. “A black belt only covers two inches of your ass. You have to cover the rest.”
Wonderful tips! I am learning Sanchin kata now and need more of this type of video -- chock full of helpful hints and important details. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to post this.
Doppo Orochi sent me here.
differnce between dojo experience and fighting exp. Many Sensei have only dojo experience !!
That's true. Not this one though!
I once heard a story from a friend about Masaji Sensei and losing a piece of his finger to an individual with a chain...
Karate takes a lifetime to master
After all these years you would think he would respect the belt he wears and at least get the balance right and wear it straight
Oh well, at least he's advancing the practice and research in Goju ryu in a remarkable way.
it's just a belt, a piece of cotton. the old masters didn't even use the belt system. you may be placing your "respect" in the wrong places.

An important idea to remember is that the belt is merely a symbol. Being a black belt is not about owning and wearing a belt that is black.
Extremely low audio.
It was filmed at a seminar on a phone. That's why we added the the sub text.
And in case nobody noticed, Kevin ?Joseph is gay.
