Running in the 90s (Initial D) - Medieval Style with Latin Choir
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 24 сен 2024
- The text of this canticle hath been adapted from the Latin Requiem Mass by Brother John. Sister Alison joineth him in the choir stalls whilst thine truly blasteth upon sackbuts, plunketh catgut, honketh racketts, and so forth.
Instruments used (multi-track recording by me):
Suona (chinese oboe similar to medieval shawm)
Trombones
Classical guitar
Church organ (synth organ + melodica)
Several straws taped together with double reed cut into one end (sounds like a medieval rackett)
Plastic bottles (drums)
Shaker
Small cymbals
Lyrics (adapted from the Dies Irae and the Requiem Introit):
Dies iræ

Solvet sæclum
Solvet sæclum in favilla

Thank you for helping create one of the foundational memes of the internet.
Me and the boys about to drift our horses nearly avoiding a cliff to get away from the inquisitors chasing us.
My horse broke a leg 😨
I and my fellow squires on our commencing a drifting motion with our legendary steeds,in an attempt to flee from thee of those wrathful inquisitors
sounds like a boss music of a sick fantasy videogame
Someone should mod this over the boss fight music of the charioteer boss in Dark Souls 2.
@@scienceme9794 Beat me to it. The bardcore cover of Gas Gas Gas would be a blast for that fight too.

Dude.
These are supposed to be meme songs, not actual works of art.
But also if they happen to be art then i don't mind
The originals are already works of art, imo, but this just hits completely different.
If we go by original definition of a meme, even a work of art like this is considered a meme "memes dna of the soul"
When we're riding our horses as fast as possible to Baghdad to warn the sultan that the Mongols are coming.
My fair lady: Oh Lord, I hope he is not cheating on me
Me and the boys at the Hippodrome:
I am definitely using this in my DND campaign.
Roll dice NAT 20 I USE EL DRIFTO!!!!!
Since everyone knows that Infernal sounds like Latin-chanting, this is perfect for any of the vehicle bits of Descent into Avernus.
Here's the scenario:
Post apocalyptic medieval world with devil's, demons and aberrations running amuk.
PCs are escaping from a literal hellish prison from the BBEG who is an incubus lich. The party does battle but gets overwhelmed and flee, but the incubus lich summons a Necrosaur T rex and chases the party through a jungle. Cue music.
As you drift your stallion the choir and orchestra kick in!
Your medieval covers are fantastic! I love the incorporation of the original Dies Irae chant. Great work.
Thanks!
Takumi : I'm the best driver on Akina's Mount. The Pope : And I took that personally.
When you're driving through the Warp and realize you have a Chaos God on your tail:
I know Medieval covers started as a joke but this is just true masterpiece territory. Great work! Love the Dies Irae in there as I used to sing similar pieces in a choir!

I'm glad you like it!
The artistry and effort put into this track may exceed the original.
The Dies Irae really lends the sense of dread and urgency this song needs.
Legend has it this song was played at William the conquerors coronation
Divine.
I just a-raised thy reckoning of likes to 10-score. Though me thinketh thou deservest 10-score times that for this noble chant. I beseech thee make more Bardcore, for thy craft is among the best, forsooth!
So freaking underrated!!!
Time to blast this in history class

seems like another listening sesh this morning

Me and the Boys running to tell Big Bad Vlad the Ottomans are coming!
I bloody swear! People always joke "this would have been a hit in 1300".
But, like, this would have ACTUALLY been a hit in like the 1200s!
Like, you could have played this during the Plague and people would sing along. Because they knew the melody from a vulgar song and the lyrics from a religious poem.
I like the pun with the 900s and also the idea of Dies Irae as the year 1000, was a real thing at the time. I just think it wouldn't be super realistic with my knowledge of that time. But idk, maybe it could still be a thing in a big city like Paris or Rome.
I DO KNOW this song can fit in right with "ai vist lo lop" and "Carmina Burana"! (Both roughly 13th century!)
As thy are sideways rolling down ourth Toyota Crusadeno 1586' In Mountain Akyngna,

When you gotta go sack Constantinople at 2 but gotta Crusade to retake Jerusalem at 4
Lmao I’m so glad this exists
Do these lyrics mean anything?
The lyrics are an extract from the Dies Irae, which is a medieval poem in Latin about the day of wrath. As far as Latin texts go, it's pretty famous since it's used in the requiem mass
The text at 0:25 should say Running in the 990s
I am in an intro to music college course and me seeing Dies Irae made me die laughing not expecting it to surface here
