Thank you for doing another Kelly reaction! Love it! Kelly and Reba sang this song together. They toured together so there’s a handful songs with both of them.
@@elraz1234 Personally, I think it makes more sense to listen to original versions before the covers. I recommend checking out Reba's version of the song before the CMT Crossroads (not Crosswords!) performance.
@@meredithchandler73That’s personal choice and they can be looked up and watched beforehand if desired. The links were sent just as a convenience only. I like Reba and have listened to her versions. I don’t always watch originals first because I don’t necessarily care about the artist. I’m not into comparing one to another. I just enjoy each version. Sometimes I do go listen to the original. To each their own.
I’ve been waiting for this! You’ve made my day, yet again! Another great Reba song is “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia.” Obviously I’m here for anything Kelly, but I had never heard the original so thank you for doing all three versions. You are just awesome.
Kelly married & divorced Reba's stepson & funnily enough Reba divorced his father. Another great song is silent night with kelly Trisha yearwood & Carrie underwood. Its absolutely stunning to my years I love anything Kelly does & she seems to be a really lovely down to earth person. ❤❤
If you want to go down the Country path a little more with Kelly, you must check out her cover of Garth Brooks’ “The Dance.” She sang it to pay tribute to him during another Kennedy Center Honors ceremony and it’s an absolutely gorgeous performance that shows she can do an understated vocal and still ring out every single emotion of a song!
I loved this & went looking for more, there's a live duet of these two fantastic ladies singing on cmt Crossroads ❤. Knowing how you like to hear things live.❤
I think it should be mentioned that Bobbie Gentry did not just perform the song, she also wrote it. It's a fantastic song, and each woman put their own spin on it.
Welcome to Reba!!!!! I encourage you to go down the Reba rabbit hole...you wont be disappointed. May I suggest Reba's The Night the Light Went Out In Georgia & Is There Life Out There....all 3 videos were directed by Jack Cole, a brilliant video director in the 90s. If you liked Fancy, I guarantee you will like these 2 as well. Make sure you watch the offical videos when it comes to Reba, they are like mini movies, Thanks for the great reaction!!!
@@bridgethegapreactions @michaeljohnson-un3mp Reba was truly the country music video queen for a while. Reba is an all-around wonderful storyteller whether you are listening to a CD or watching one of her music videos. I highly recommend that you go down the Reba rabbit hole! Fun facts: --Many people highly recommend these 3 Reba music videos: Fancy, The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia, and Is There Life Out There. They are all "mini-movies" with dialogue before, during and/or after the songs. --Note: Please listen to the song The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia before watching Reba's music video. Even though it's a great video, the dialogue overlaps parts of the song and you can miss details in the story. And it's a great story song! --A couple of times Reba has had music videos that were connected in some way. Reba had an album called What If It's You and the two singles she had released in 1997 had music videos that had the same characters in them so it felt like a continuation of their story: "I'd Rather Ride Around With You" and "What If It's You." Similarly, the main characters in the music video for "Somebody" from Reba's 2003 album Room To Breathe show up again in the music video for "Love Needs a Holiday" which was on the album Reba's #1s released in 2005. --It is hard for me to recommend Reba videos to watch because there are SO many fantastic ones. This is one of my fave songs of ANY genre. It's SO beautifully constructed- melody, lyrics, emotions. I know it's the typical "Everything-gone-wrong-song" country is known for, but it never gets old.
My take on these versions is this: I grew up hearing the Reba version, and never even knew it was a cover until probably 20 years ago. I heard the original version soon after, and didn't like it at all. I feel no sympathy whatsoever in Gentry's version, and I feel it's deserved. I mean, the song is a heartbreaking story when Reba sings it, but the original seems a little 'grimy' to me. (Sorry, please don't hate me! 😢) However, when I heard Kelly's version, I felt EMPATHY for both mother and daughter. I could actually see myself in that situation and how I would feel if I were in either of their places. Awesome song, awesome lyrics, props to all these ladies!
Kelly and reba did a video of “because of you” reba sounds great in it. If u do “the nights the lights went out in georgia, do lyric video cuz theres alot of talking over the lyrics in the real video.
Wow! I know very little Bobbie Gentry at all: thanks for this. And no Reba McEntire (except for 'Tremors' of course). Does this mean you are a big fan of country soul? I do know country soul legends Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham, Arthur Alexander, James Carr, Eddie Hinton, Chips Moman and American Studios in Memphis in the 1960s. Are you familiar? If not, I urge you or anyone who doesn't recognise these names to explore -- a huge source of wonderful music. Here's one for starters: ruclips.net/video/h9xUFfNN_jE/видео.htmlsi=hl59H7h56HcHmu0W
I'm an Elvis guy, so yes, love the music that came out of there. Country Soul is exactly my kind of thing- I love genres getting mixed together, I love it when white music has a black influence, and if I listed my favourite songs of all time, James Carr's version of The Dark End Of The Street would be near the top. Bobbie Gentry recorded Fancy at FAME Studios / Muscle Shoals which I guess is a similar thing. Bobbie Gentry songs to check out: Okolona River Bottom Band, Reunion, Casket Vignette, just everything really.
I was wondering when you were going to do another Kelly reaction. There are so many to choose from. Don't stop now!
I've been waiting for more Kelly Clarkson from you. Thank you... more please.
You can NEVER go wrong with any Kelly Clarkson reaction!!! She slays everything she sings!!!

Oh cool! I definitely need to hear that too

Garth Brooks - another country artist i know literally nothing about. That one has been requested a lot though, I'll check it out!
Kelly nailed this one. So friggin' good.
Kelly covered “You Lie” today on her show - Another beautiful Reba song, but much slower than Fancy or Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia.

Kelly Clarkson is a really really good singer. She can harmonize with any one
You should see Kelly cover a song called 'When My Fingers Find Your Strings'. Absolutely awesome. Written & song by actor Jeff Daniels.
Oh! And Kelly married Reba’s stepson Brandon and shortly after, Reba divorced Brandon’s father. She and Kelly are still close.
Reba was just on The Kelly Clarkson Show's Halloween episode. It was really fun to watch them together again
Is that picture Bobbie Gentry? I thought it was the lady that sings Feel like a woman.
