I bought the Yashica GSN series when I went to a Goodwill store a year ago. Payed 20.00 dollars for it and got very lucky. It worked. Today I stopped at a lawn sale and there was a box with a few cameras in it and a kid had set aside a Yashica GTN as he was rummaging thew the box and I got very lucky again. I asked if he was going to buy it and he said go for it and I did. I beat the owner down to eight dollars and again this one works as well. Needs a good cleaning for sure but for eight dollars. I love 35mm film cameras. The 35mm film still can not be beaten when it come to picture quality.

Nice camera. I recently sold my GTN in absolute mint condition with original case and strap. Enjoyed the images, but I prefer to shoot fully manually with an external meter. Mostly shooting with an Oly 35RC and Canon QL17 these days. Much prefer the size and feel of the QL, but that little Zuiko on the Oly is amazing! Thanks for your vids, I appreciate the effort and info.

    Cheers for sharing your insight.
I guess if shooting with ND filters you can cheat the meter by setting the ISO speed X number of stops slower?

Hey have you ever come across a yashica Electro that drains batteries really fast? I just got my camera (black GT) put a fresh battery in it, I shot about 6 photos over the course of about a week and the battery was done the last time I went to shoot. For now I guess Ill have the take the battery out in-between use.

I bought an Electro 35 GTN and it came with the original lens hood which was unusable. As I currently am in area where the sun is abundant and I've already had problems with lens flare and flanging with other cameras when shooting in harsh light, which lens hood can I buy for this camera which won't give me any kind of vignetting?
Thank you for your videos, thanks to the one where you repair it I was able to buy it and thoroughly clean it make it almost brand new again!

Hi, I have this same camera. I recently purchased an adapter for the battery. Lights goes on (battery check and Over / Slow) , but the camera still fires at the same speed no matter the aperture (even on Auto, B or Flash)....can you tell me what can be the problem? The blades doesn’t seem to be sticking, as I can see the blades open and close. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The 4LR44 battery I have is quite old but still have enough power to juice the light...could it be that its not powerful enough to fire the shutter/ light meter?

You should check to make sure the dial on the front of the lens is set to the red A, and not the flash synch setting. You can also try cleaning the contacts. To do that you remove the three screws on the bottom of the camera and take off the bottom plate. Hold the camera upside down, and apply a few drops of lighter fluid to the contact switch, which is directly below the shutter button. Then wind the shutter lever and hold it at the end of its travel, and work the shutter button many times quickly. Reinstall the bottom cover, and it may work. This trick also works to fix flickering meter lamps, and funny electrical noises these cameras can sometimes make.
