I bought one in 1969 in Thailand. I owned a Petri 7s and loved it. I bought the Yashica to find out how good it was compared to my Petri. Lol....I took it out and shot a couple photos. Put it in my locker next to the Petri. A day later, my locker was broken into and my two cameras werevgone. I ended up buying a Petri SLR " F "
The Petri is a beautiful camera! Classic rangefinder looks. I’ve never owned one but you’re got me thinking about one right now. Sorry to hear about your cameras being stolen. I despise thieves.
I have two of these (one on the way) I had to Jerry-Rig a battery adapter for an LR44 6v to fit but it works. I have a roll of Portra 400 in it right now 🤞🏻 I fitted a UV filter and a lens cap. Still had the hot shoe cover fitted too. I love it. I take it and an Olympus Trip 35 everywhere 😊
It’s a beautiful camera aesthetically. It gets lots of looks when I’m walking around with mine. The lens is top-notch also and renders beautiful photos.
Just revisiting some of your videos. I must say, this is a very scenic, relaxing area you chose for filming! 🙂 How are you holding up during this pandemic? Everything going ok for you? Have you been able to shoot much film (or any photo for that matter) as of late? Anyway, stay healthy, my friend!
My best friends camera. I rem him telling me how good it was. I rem comparing pics to my Canonet thinking how good mine were. Great vid good memories. Thanks.
I bought a new battery for mine, but it still won't light up. Good to know you can still shoot with it without a battery. Thanks for your video; makes me appreciate what I have.
Spidey’s camera! Pretty nifty camera I’d say. Very colorful letterings they used on it. I just got my Minolta X-700 back from John Titterington of JTCamera, he replaced the Capacitors. Now she is like new. Got the MD 50mm f1.4 also minty. She looks like she just got off the assembly line. I’m going to use Portra 400 to be on the safe side and get good shots soon.
Great review, I bought one of these at a yard sale for $5 but the shutter had a problem where it wouldn't close unless you shone light in the light meter so I sent it to one of my buddies in Trinidad and he took it apart and realized it had What's called the pad of death which was an easy fix. The shutter is almost too quiet I was wondering if something was broken LOL. I have to say your composition in this video being back away from the camera and in nature makes a huge difference. In your previous videos being so close up to the camera I felt claustrophobic. Good job on this
Thanks man. I appreciate the feedback. I can’t always get out like I want to and I don’t know if you can tell but I was freezing my a** off! I like going out if I have the option but I know there will be more videos to come in the close up setting.
I call it the all up in your grill style lol. nah but its all good its the content thats important. hey next time you edit that maybe boost the volume I had to turn it up on my phone all the way. the 2 camera angle was slick, very hollywood.
@@Raychristofer Thanks Ray, I've been experimenting with different types of video techniques; it adds to the fun for me. Thanks for the heads up on the volume. I actually had turned up the volume a few times in FCPX so I can just guess that I had the level on my audio recorder turned down too low.
@@FilmPhotographyChannel hey if you ever don't want to be bothered with the the hassle of an external recorder and syncing audio you can also try a wired lavalier. The one I use was about $18 and it's about 12 ft long and works great for those times I don't want to be bothered with setting up the wireless microphone
My purple panda mic came with a 12’ cord which I could’ve plugged in to the iPhone but it probably would’ve caused it to fall over since it was held up by a rickety selfy stick! I’ve never had a problem using my Tascam DR-07 MKII before this time. I think what happened in this case was that I over compensated for the mic being so close to my mouth by turning the gain down too far. First time using this lav mic outdoors. In other words user error!
I love mine. Camera with Fuji 200 Color film has given me excellent results! They are pretty Cameras. Would really like to know why it was chosen for Spider-Man movie.
Love this video, I own one of these cameras. I had it serviced recently and it works great. One small comment, please raise the recording volume in future videos as it is very low and when RUclips cuts in with commercials the difference in volume blows out my ears. It is a rather unpleasant experience, LOL! Thank you.
UPDATE: I just got the camera back with fresh light seals and it's absolutely perfect now.
Just got mine today - I love it. They don't make stuff like this anymore!

One of my old roommates got a black 35 GSN by finding it on the side of a country road. A bit banged up, but I think it still worked.
I find these cameras like the Electro 35, Olympus XA and Trip 35, to be quite interesting. Thank you for reviewing them.
And Merry Christmas, Eric!!
Thanks for stopping by Donald. Merry Christmas to you too!

Very cool. I still haven't found a Minolta X-Series to review. I'm looking...

I just got an early version G and I’m into the first roll. Really like it.
I like this camera a lot as well. Great lens.
They are not LEDs. They are small incandescents. The filament can actually go if you’re unlucky or bump the camera.
I have two of those , I have rolls of film but I haven't taking any pics with My Yashica
u just got a new sub good job man love the video keep up the good work
Thanks so much!
you are welcome buddy

got it. thanks!
They produce nice sharp images from my experience! A little Heavy, but enjoy I shooting it regardless.
I would choose the MG-1 over the electro 35 anyday. Metering is better and easier. Although lens is slower
After years, do you think same idea that mg1 is better than the electro 35?
Hey thanks for the great video. I have a 35 G and a twin lens Yashica 24. Who do you recommend for refurb?
I used this guy for mine: www.ebay.com/usr/luisbordan?ul_noapp=true For the 35, that is. I don't know anyone for the TLR unfortunately.
Nice video. I have one of these and yeah the "after the shutter clack" annoys me about it so I never use it.
Pad of death. When you dont hear the clunk its fucked..
The camera does work without batteries but the shutter is stuck at 1/500
mine has parralax correction
