You are a delight to watch! Your enthusiasm for silversmithing has helped me overcome my anxiety about trying this craft. I’ve made gemstone beaded jewelry for 17 years. I am so encouraged by your exciting videos that I’m going to begin my own journey in becoming a silversmith in Colorado, USA! Thank YOU!!!

5:12 oh my those beads are stunning, you have magpie eyes like me, those are the ones I love too, though I never find such a lovely haul, lovely shapes too. I’d love to find a size and shape to use for necklaces to pair with pendants rather than cord or chain or seed beads. Your haul of, cabochons are enviable! And that tray of purple cabochons that were beside the malachite you said you weren’t looking at were stunning too, the patterns in the malachite are stunning, and I’m growing to love is …..is it labradite….the oval you rested on your index finger….oh and moonstone, that’s my birthstone, hubby grew up with his grans beliefs that pearls were bad luck….imagine my horror when I found out a few days after ordering my wedding dress and frantic email to the manufacturer in china (I didn’t have money for a dress though wish I had the ones picked from a picture of a perfect bride are never the same when you get them, but they were good and instead of pearls swopped them all for crystals 😊😊😊😊😊 I think I would be dangerous at a gemstone fair, we got nothing like that anywhere near me. 😊😊

Basia, that was an example of dehydrated purchasing! Well done! Selection criteria well adhered to, purchasing smaller, achieving your present design flow, and output schedule, on song, and beautiful are your examples, of fine work, I applaud you for that. I spent nearly 20 years combing several beaches, from a freak region that had some beautiful stones held for perhaps thousands of years, then things changed, over 5 years they had all come down the major river and, now, gone. I got, what I got, end of! No one else saw any, really strange, Since the amount has to be reduced, I am in peril of losing some quantity, therefore using thinner diamond saws, etc. I am 81, and having to move into a mountain cottage. Thanks for being an inspiration, in your own, productive way..........Arohanui...........

Thank you so much!! I appreciate it a lot ❤ That's so exciting you're going to your first gem show, I;m sure it's going to be AMAZING :) Check out some tips I shared in an older video of mine, I think some may be very useful ruclips.net/video/iJyTC2RJIE4/видео.htmlsi=JY-hnZR8f6ura2Hf (especially the one about lightweight clothes, light backpack, water and NOT crashing on the first stand! haha ❤ Take your time, look around, plan your purchases and don't feel pressure. Stick to your list and leave some space for something extra). Good luck and have FUN!!

@@engnardine oh, true! But trust me, a good list is what usually saves me haha 😁 Know what you want to get and focus on this first. It'll give you that sense of accomplishment and you'll feel more relaxed knowing that you've fulfilled your task and the visit won't be a waste of time. Then you can browse more freely and get something extra or more of what you wanted to buy in the first place 🥰 Sometimes I do visit gem shows without an agenda, just for fun and end up buying some gems as well. So just remember to not pressure yourself to buy or not buy, make sure you're having fun and things you do end up getting will make a beautiful jewellery ❤️

I thoroughly enjoyed this! Even the place where it was held; the 2 times I visited Warsaw back in the '70s I admired that building, but hadn't been inside. Beautiful, the work of man, all the more beautiful with all the gems, the work of God's hands, inside.
I never get to go to Gem Shows, so I enjoy seeing the videos of others who do!

@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing Not sure yet. Probably won't go until next year now as short of money. Manchester is my nearest big city so will wait until it comes to there. Or Liverpool. I plan to get some smallish stones for cabochons so I can use them on silver corner (and central) pieces so my books will look a bit like jewelled medieval books.

Oh, and I can totally understand! It's hard to resist many gems, especially when seeing them in person, it's so tempting to get them! 😁 I did end up going slightly over my budget this time too, some gems were just too nice not to get... 🙈
