#20 - The Velociraptors were not increased in size for the film. This is addressed in the dialogue of the novel. Alan Grant and Henry Wu are talking about Velociraptor mongoliensis (known by the same name today) and Velociraptor antirrhopus (known as Deinonychus antirrhopus today). At the time the novel was being researched and written during the 80's Deinonychus was known as Velociraptor Antirrhopus. Spielberg debated renaming it to Deinonychus for the film to keep up with the scientific community but ultimately decided to remain faithful to the novel and kept the name Velociraptor

There were 2 types of Velociraptor, but that changed when they renamed one of them Deinonychus. The Raptors in Jurassic Park are based off of Deinonychus, although still not entirely accurate. It’s explained in the book.
I seriously have to thank Jurassic Park for popularizing dinosaurs and dinosaur animatronics and dinosaur puppets. I remember seeing them at my local science museum as a kid and, while they permanently scarred me, it gave me considerable perspective.
Namely how insignificant people are compared to many of the animals who have lived on this earth when taken at face value.

I heard that a dinosaur called Deinoychus(I think) was once called a Velociraptor but like other dinosaurs have THEIR NAME and a part at the end, it was referred as Velociraptor something.
I think it was only a bit smaller that the raptors in the film, though.
I think I heard that the Velociraptors in the books were supposed to be the Deinoychus/velociraptor, as well.

i watched the new movie yesterday night, went to sleep and dreamed that i am chris pratt being chased by ankylosaurus... gotta say i love the adventures i have in my dreams after i watch some movies, but also... damn , i don't wanna spend my sleep exercising---
also i love dinosaurs and this movie and i can't wait for a new one :D
I had a dream one night that chris pratt came to my school best dream ever
La la YO I DREAMED THAT I WAS IN PARIS, (after I watched it, 4th of July) THAT THERE WERE FIREWORKS, AND THAT A T REX WAS CHASING MY FAMILY!!! Unfortunately my sister and mom were too slow so we got separated. Then I got into some kind of weird Hood where black people brought me inside a movie theater to hide out. It was a dead end. I desperarely tried to find an exit through the bathroom windows, but alas. T rex got there, where it broke through the cinema's glass wall, and so I decided to leap for the bathrooms, which for some reason had turned into a storage room of some kind. I hid behind a pile of pillows, but every idiot hiding in the movie theater decided to follow me. When the T rex got in there, it looked at me even though I was desperately trying to hide. When realized I couldn't do anything, I just gave up and waited to be eaten. By the time I was hiding behind the pillows, I had realized it was a dream. But I still had this uncertain feeling that this was how I ended, all that just for life to end there. Thankfully I woke up as the T rex was charging at me with its mouth open. This dream was so terrifying I have a whole new outlook on life.

Lovely video! Just when one thinks one knows everything about the Jurassic Park franchise, it turns out there are still a few tidbits one didn't know! Though I couldn't help but think of three more points related to ones you listed, so have some more tidbits! (because one can never have too many JP tidbits):
1. Jack Horner is on record stating the movie's Velociraptors were visually based on Deinonychus.
2. Baby camels are separated from their mothers for a few hours a day as part of their "independance training" by camel breeders. (though personally I think such actions do more to psychologically traumatise both baby and mother...)
3. Bryce Howard's son Theo clearly has the best human character in that film. Honestly, the written characters were shit and I feel bad for the actors who had to play them...

Lol while that is funny it isn't true at all, after it got all jacked up in the first Jurassic Park that was it, Lost World doesn't even take place on the same island and doesn't even have a park, same for the 3rd one which doesn't even have any type of building structure. It's not until Jurassic World where we actually get the park from the first one again which is three movies and like 19 years apart. And SPOILER ALERT Fallen Kingdom doesn't even have the island have way through the movie 😂. So out of all 5 of the Jurassic Park movies only 2 actually have parks in them

Hey guys, great job ^_^ Thanks very much for mentioning Hurricane Iniki and how it was a real storm! ^_^ I lived through that hurricane on the island of Oahu and after the storm passed my father who was enlisted in the Navy went to both Kauai and Maui to help with cleanup and salvage. I'll tell you what, that was just about as terrifying an experience as being in a park with dinosaurs...anyone else on the islands during that devastating storm? I'm curious to know!

Why does everyone say that the Dilophosaurus was tiny? It was stated in the film that it was an infant and in the novel, it was an adult who attacked Nedry. >:(

Odd I thought it was set off the coast of Costa Rica in Central America. Because of the islands having Spanish names, the ferry captain speaking spanish as well, and the fact is located southwest of Isla Nublar which is also in Central America. but hey I could be wrong.

Lost world was not set off the coast of South Africa, but also off the coast of Costa Rica on Isla Nublar.
It's not a reboot if you have references to old characters (like John Hammond) and have old sites, vehicles, and gadgets reappear for the first time in decades (like the old visitor center, the Jurassic Park jeeps, and the night-vision goggles)

The info on dinosaurs ahs changed so much i dont blame people for havng out of date info. Wasspinosaurus a quadropedal crocodilian or did it walk on hind legs like a therapod. Brontosaurus/Apatasaurus, Trex being a scavenger or a predator.

The velociraptor in the film is actually more accurate than you think. Look up a different type of velociraptor, called Velociraptor Antirrhopus, which has a more common name of Deinonychus. That's what the raptor in the film is based on, not Utahraptor.
