Yo, J-Rock ( Jonathan Koh) I sincerely want to thank you for the awesome content. I really appreciated the Brush With Depression video. Since dealing with this issue myself I've started to realize having an Anchor, a firm Foundation, to have Faith (for me all of these lead to God) Somehow he's always there for me. Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm in the SF Bay Area, so when you head this way Hit Me Up !! Word, Thanks J-Rock !!
This I Steve Lukather’s signature guitar.. Steve Lukather is my favourite guitarist! Along with Eric Johnson. They both play with so much passion and feel. 🎸🎸🎸
I really enjoyed your review and your playing. You have a really nice spirit about you and I appreciate your review. And since you were wondering, the tuners are pronounced like "Shay-ler". Take care.
Man, my absolute favorite playing sample from you is your friend's 'heavily modified MIM strat', but this is a close second! You are awesome, Jon. Stay strong!
EMGs look like brand new! I did some research on the SLV set, which is a custom SA style, but has pole pieces instead of bar magnets. They sound really nice! It was impossible to find guitars with EMGs in them way back then, so I carved out a Strat. Then I had one built locally, Alder/Maple/Rosewood and put an 81/S/SA in it. After about 20 years of that guitar, I finally tried Gibson guitars and fell out of my chair when I realized that a double humbucker setup with 2 vol 2 tone knobs is an ideal way to carve out custom gain settings. These days I'll admire all guitars. Great tones and textures today Jon!
thanks for the video, considering getting one of these as one popped up locally in great condition. I already have the MM stingray modern player which I love (and a much older silhouette, which again is great) but think this would really round off the set nicely!
Hi Jon!! Sorry it's been a while since I've been active...BUT I thought you'd appreciate this- I bought a Schecter PT SLS and put Fishman Fluence Classics in it during lockdown (the Moderns were too metal for me) about the same time I started following your channel. Your praise of Schecter was a deciding factor. Anyways this past year I started getting interested in the Luke but couldn't afford a new L3. earlier this month a beautiful Luke 2 showed up at my local store. I played it, expecting to love the neck but hate the EMGs and you know what? I actually quite like the pickups. Ended up trading a 90's Strat plus some cash for it. I can't keep my hands off it, it is a JOY to play!
I have the bfr luke 2 which has alder/maple and the mahogany tone block but I prefer the snappiness of the regular l2 more since its just alder! the bfr has a more darker sound.
Wow. Lovely sounds coming out of your hands and that guitar. I now have a really tough decision to make. One of these (a shop in UK has one) or a Suhr Classic in Mary Kaye style finish. If you could only own one of these two amazing guitars which would you have? I think Suhr is probably easiest to play with my relatively large hands. They're both used. Suhr is immaculate. Musicman has had a little more use and is a bit older. Thank you Jonathan. Great videos.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Hi Jonathan I bought the Suhr. It's a used but mint condition custom model based on the classic. HSS with Michael Laundau pickups, Swamp ash body in white with nice thin finish that shows the woid grain, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, abalone inlays, all hardware is gold plated. It is absolutely stunning. If you know the Fender Stratocaster Mary Kaye it is basically very similar in appearance! Just a dream guitar and one of a kind. Anytime you're in London UK you can message me and I'll let you play it.
Hey Jonathan...... Luke ll?? Nice. I knew besides being a great player you has exceptional taste in guitars. I have the lll HSS and I really hate to leave it behind when I have to travel to a gig. The play so well.
I Love watching you play Jonathan. You are so good. Keep up the great work my brother. BTW I purchased 2 guitars (from other videos) because of your reviews.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Hi Jonathan, I purchased a Harley Benton TE70 Deluxe (Tele clone) and the Harley Benton CST-24 Deluxe (PRS clone). I love the customer service I got with the HB; the CST-24 came with a faulty ground in the bridge post. I sent them a video of the issues I was having (a loud hum that silenced when I touched the bridge). HB sent me a full refund. Having nothing to lose I pulled the bridge post on the CST-24 and extended the ground to make contact with the post and it is working just fine now. 2 fine guitars for the VERY reasonable price of 1. I will add I also had to adjust the Truss rod on the Tele shortly after receiving it but that was trivial, probably just due to the temperature change. I live in Massachusetts USA and the winter is rough here). The intonation was near perfect after the Truss rod adjustment (the loss of the intonation clued me to the fact that the truss rod needed adjustment, which I confirmed by sighting the neck). I actually feel guilty, I should be paying HB for the experience I'm gaining doing these minor repairs. BTW Luke 2 looks like a really nice guitar.
Hi Jonathan, I just discovered your channel. I really like your playing. Since I own the same guitar, I would like to know which strings you use on it and if you use the same gauge on your strats too.Thanx!
@@JonIsJustTooLoud thanks for the reply. I'm switching back and forth between 10s and 9s. Reality is that even though I love the tone of my Luke I'm not 100% confident with it. I still prefer my strats for live work
Enjoyed the video very much ..thanks bro...Never try Ernie Ball before is it true like they said if you used to Ernie ball neck it's hard for you to go for another guitar? ✌️
sham zamri hahaha it depend on which neck does the guitar comes in with. Their roasted bird’s eye maple neck is like super comfortable and looks really really good✌️🤓
Wel traveled by looking at the case, you have so many great guitars how do you choose which ones to gig with? Rosewood allowed again now. Great playing hope you get 10,000 subs by christmas.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud i have that guitar at home, a friend of mine lent it to me. Not my neck but i love the construction and the electronic so much... To me active pickups are the solution to the problems of passive pick ups. To me this one guitar is the most versatile i can think of. Love your vids :)
That battery box is crap! I have changed out the one on my Luke twice since 09' and the one on my Valentine once since 16'. I got the replacement boxes through Ernie Ball, go figure, they sell the replacements because they know what we know.
Also great player ..beautiful control and command of the instrument!
Thank you very much!✌❤
Exceptional playing. Technique and feel in abundance. Thank you for sharing
Thank you kindly!✌🤓
One of the first guitars that made me go "WOW" just looking at it. Superb design. Great licks as well, Jonathan.

Love my Luke 2 in Luke blue. I need to do something about the saddle screws, were I rest my hand they dig in. Either file down or replace the bridge.
