I just wanna thank you guys for uploading this video and showcasing the Luke III, as it caused me to buy one of these bad boys recently (and it's the first time I spent so much on a guitar). Simply put, I couldn't be any happier. These guitars are a thing of beauty, it's like I found my soulmate (hopefully, my wife won't read this LOL). The folks at Musicman/Ernie Ball simply know how to deliver quality work.
Actually, the Luke I had a Floyd Rose and only a volume pot. The one that Rob is holding, is the Luke II and the one that Capt is holding, is the Luke III ^^
1994? A friend of mine has the original one and its just as you described it. HSS emgs and only one volume pot, painted on a nice dark blue. Very pretty guitar, very versatile, unfortunately my peasent hands do not make any justice, still an amazing instrument.
I sold all my Gibsons recently and now have 5 Musicmans (and counting) and NOTHING compares to them.they are so playable! try one, they are the best Rock guitars out there.
if you like them, you will love the reviews of guitar gear 1, it clearly shows the guy isn't paid by anyone. rob and the captain seems to enjoy everything they play with, duh! by the way, i took a peek at stormbrigner, WOW! keep on rocking.
michel taillon I know, im following them for few years now and they always give the best. No doubt that they are the best of the best. Totally down to the ground, they always say exactly what we want to hear and they are funny as hell. Hope i will have a chance to meet them some day. Thank you Michel for checking my channel out, i really appreciate it. Cheers, TilenS
Music Man does not get the recoginition and respect that they deserve. They truly are superior in quality and craftsmanship to anything I have owned. I have two Luke 2's and have owned them for about 6 years. The longest I ever kept a guitar was at best two years and have no plans ever of giving these us. The only thing I don't like about the Luke are the EMG's, I am currently in the middle of curing that problem.
My feel is that MusicMan and PRS leave Gibson and Fender in their wake. I owned an original 'Luke', traded it in and have regretted it ever since. I have my Strat, my Les Paul and PRS, but I miss the beautiful feel of the neck, the range of tones and the compactness of this guitar. This is 'the guitar' for Luke, and truthfully this is probably my ideal guitar too... I just wish I still had it.
Music Man is the final word, from what I can tell. I have played a total of five different guitars from their range and every one had to be forcibly removed from my cold dead hands. They felt perfect, it sounded incredible. I felt like I had gotten some old school cheat codes and beaten the Guitar game. I finally bought an Albert Lee model and it cured me of the idea that I needed every guitar out there. There isn't anything that does any genre better. If you can spend the money, you're silly not to get one.
Zac Miller I've played the luke and it had an incredible neck, narrow like I've never seen before or since. Do you know if the axis series has a similar neck profile?
If you felt like you wanted it back you could get rid, part ex, sell the Strat and buy another one. That's what I'd do if I could be bothered that is. I've got a Valentine and it's unbelievable so, I know where you're coming from. It is better than my elite Strat. This is simply because Music Man are basically custom shop guitars and although high-end the Stratocaster can't quite reach those heights unfortunately.. They're both different guitars however, and the Strat has an S.S.S configuration. So I think I've got the best of both worlds as the 'man' has a humbucker in the neck and a telecaster style single coil in the bridge, so basically I've got a Stratocaster a Telecaster and a Gibson 335. Not bad for 4,000. I know 4 grand is expensive but I did save up for a few years.
Those Music Man rosewood necks are pretty damn awesome. And Music Mans are so awesome that is frightening to play them casue you wont settle for less after that.
Man,what a sound, what the possibilities ✨️ 😍 👌 superb 👌 👏 I'm playing it in my head already....PFloyd can be played without pedals and to sound amazing!
I play lead in a cover band, and I found that the more frequently I gig the more I needed 4 must-haves: comfort, consistently high build quality, versatility and superior tone. I had a nostalgic draw to Fenders, Gibson’s, and PRS’s until I realized the iconic guitars lacked a big part of what I needed in a 3-4 hour gig. EBMM’s Silhouette HSH w/piezo and the Reflex actually packed it all in 1 guitar, so I rarely have to switch instruments in the middle of a set. I keep my LP Standard under the bed, now, and use the EBMM’s for gigs. My Fenders and PRS never got used, so they’re gone.
Love that Vinnie Moore got mentioned in this episode, one of my favourite players. His first 3 albums had a massive impact on me :) Hopefully Rob will do a video of Vinnies signature Dean guitars!
Last year I bought 1 in Emmerald Green. It plays like a dream with an amazing sound. Quality and sound is far superior than Gibson or Fender in the same price range.
i had a cherry sb 7/8 body valley arts luk made in the original shop that later burned down in th late 1980s.mine was made in 85.larry carlton also had a sign model
Splendid review and demo! ; you've got me wanting a Luke III now. I'd get mine locally in California, of course, but I'd buy it from Anderton's if I lived in the UK.
So, I was watching Blood Diamond on the tv and looking this vid on my laptop. Thing is that when Solomon was about to give his speech at the end of the movie, there is an epic track going on in the back; at the same time that was happening, this vid had the Captain doing his jam with the gorgeous L3 and both movie and Captain's jam are in the same key hence the epic back track plus the Cap's jam made a one of a kind jam that reminded me of Dream Theater's Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence in the Score record....I know, useless comment but wonderful coincidence
For anyone experiencing the "fluttering" - I've put 10s on mine, added a 3rd spring and shoved a bit of tissue behind the bridge cavity. I've read that Ernie Ball say that you don't need to include a 3rd spring, but the tremolo system is so responsive that i'd suggest giving it a go if you want to play 10s. Funnily enough - the guitar being shown in this video is probably the exact one i now own, as i picked it up from Andertons last year shortly after this vid was made.
i love the luke 1. a luke 1 with that press in boost would be delightful. also chappers, from watching these videos for a number of years ive always admired your playing. your great but recently alongside technically youve also got a lot more expressive which is amaze balls!
luke 2 is the one that was before this one.. 10 years ago or so, they updated from luke 1 to luke 2.. a smaller body, different contures and different woods.. it was a small change, but enough to call it luke 2.. :)
There's a comment down below about that. Great clean, really chimey. No mud in these pups. EBMM has an active noise cancelling system too, which is nice with P90s.
The original Luke, or as it is known as by the fans "Luke 1" had a Floyd type locking trem and EMG pickups. The Luke in your video is known as the Luke 2 as it has the non locking Ernie Ball "vintage Trem" and EMG pickups. The L3 is L3 due to the DiMarzio pickups and Luke thought some would not want his name on the guitar.
I'm loving the configuration of the new Luke 3, dual humbuckers - YUM! This is starting to resemble the old Roadstar II RS1010SL the last guitar Steve had made for him prior to moving to MusicMan. I love those old Roadstar II guitars and I've secretly coveted having a MusicMan Luke for a while.. hahaha Maybe one day. Thanks for the great review chaps.
I agree that those Luke's just sound epic. I played one with a Marshall JVM1 and love the sound, so I bought it. But when I took it home and played it on my SG, it sounded awful. These guitars sound great through everything.
Vinnie Moore's signature guitar is by Dean & is the VinMan 2000, He used to play an Ibanez with no locking nut, locking tuners & a Floyd Rose without fine tuners.
hello, would you say it can sound like a vintage strat or classic player 60 (custom 69 pickups ) Example Nile Rodgers for the neck pickup or not so vintage? Second i look for Knopfler's tone (pos 2 and 4) too
Oh, yeah I'm sure it was a special. I ran into 1 of 70 special signed Steve Morse guitars at my utterly unimportant, out of the way, small guitar center just the other day. Anyway, how are the neck/middle middle/bridge selections on the p90 AL model?
Hey guys great job as usual.Just wanted to tell you I saw Luke last evening with Toto and Michael McDonald at Ravinia (Illinois Shed). Toto warmed up and just killed. Then Steve comes on for Michael McDonald's encore to do a medley of Stevie Wonder songs.
The Luke one sported a single volume knob (no tone), an EMG 85 in the bridge, and EMG SAVs in the middle and neck. Also, it came with a Floyd Rose. The Luke II had the Music Man vintage trem, the SLVs in the middle and neck, and the added tone knob of course...
That riff plays at the beginning of soooo many anderton's videos and i've had enough! i must know what song that is and how i can get it on my mp3 player
More Music Man guitars please! Also, more specifically: I have had an eclectic GAS streak for awhile now and I thought I'd have to go custom. But Albert Lee came out with a 3 P90, solid rosewood, non mahogany body guitar. Would you guys please do that one?
Those new pups are the Dimarzio Transition humbuckers named after the 2012 album by Lukather called Transition. They are ceramic pups and sound amazing, I am putting a set in my next custom strat. Look for the youTube videos on these pups!!
Although you could probably order what you'd want from EBMM, the AL with the P90s has a maple neck. The HH AL has the rose wood neck. I have both and they are two of my favorite guitars that I've played. Really well put together, that would rival any other maker. I especially love the P90 AL.
Music Man was started in 1972 by Forrest White, Tom Walker formerly of Fender and Leo Fender as a silent partner as he was still bound by a non-competition clause when he sold Fender to CBS. Ernie Ball bought the company in 1984 according to one of Tony Bacon's books.
I know this is like video from 3 yrs ago but I'd like them to do some MusicMan guitar reviews as I'm looking into them and they have some new models, i think.... like St. Vincent Model

@@AGTR98 I have the Luke I reissue from 2013!
I sold all my Gibsons recently and now have 5 Musicmans (and counting) and NOTHING compares to them.they are so playable! try one, they are the best Rock guitars out there.
Musicman are INCREDIBLE guitars. Loved the Axis SS, Lukathar, and the Albert Lee models, too. The Steve Morse was also great.
Its about time that someone gives Rob and Captain the golden medal for the best guitar reviews in the world! :)
if you like them, you will love the reviews of guitar gear 1, it clearly shows the guy isn't paid by anyone. rob and the captain seems to enjoy everything they play with, duh! by the way, i took a peek at stormbrigner, WOW! keep on rocking.

Love isnt always on time... I should have loved these axes years ago.
Amazing looking guitar.
Playing my Luke while watching this. Yes, life is good.
Mr. Chappers, you are awesome. I love watching your videos and learning about guitars. Thank you for bringing all these great videos to us.
EBMM makes some amazing instruments. Nicest instrument i've ever played was an EBMM JP6. You guys should review the JP13 and the Majesty!
Lee's playing made me smile more than Rob's in this video, get a music man Lee!!
Those Music Man rosewood necks are pretty damn awesome. And Music Mans are so awesome that is frightening to play them casue you wont settle for less after that.
The captain is such a good player!
Amazing guitar, love the sustain on these. Great video too (as always).
LOVE ISNT ALWAYS ON TIME! WHOA WHOA WHOAAAA!
MUSICMAN HAVE THE BEST NECK FEELING BETTER THAN OTHER
BEST BEST BEST NECK
I must say... I very much like listening to the captain talking... think I'm in love
4:19
"Vinnie Moore is hugely amazing!! Sounds like a cobwoy and plays like a genius!!" AMEN BRO!!!
Man, I love Bea's playing!
such a cool guitar! I think you could use this guitar as your only guitar for almost any style of music.Another winner from Music Man.
I must have one!!!
It would be nice if we could see the uncensored videos at the Andertons site.
Man,what a sound, what the possibilities ✨️ 😍 👌 superb 👌 👏 I'm playing it in my head already....PFloyd can be played without pedals and to sound amazing!

AHHH RABEA WITH THE LUKATHER AT THE END!!!!!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!
Music Man was founded by Leo Fender, and Forrest White. In 1976, they moved from making amps to making guitars. So it's been around 35+ years.
love these two guys ! very entertaining.
Last year I bought 1 in Emmerald Green. It plays like a dream with an amazing sound.
Quality and sound is far superior than Gibson or Fender in the same price range.
I have a Luke 2 HSS and Luke 3 HH best guitars I own
i had a cherry sb 7/8 body valley arts luk made in the original shop that later burned down in th late 1980s.mine was made in 85.larry carlton also had a sign model
Bad love!!! Hell yeah! Love you, Chappers!
I have a a Luke III BFR, in Blueberry Burst and it is the finest guitar I own & the most fun to play!
And Chappers, that guitar was doing wonders for you Satriani tone!
You're right mr.guitarfreak, i didnt thought of that... Thank you
The Luke 1 was the one with the Floyd Rose I think. The Luke 2 was the HSS EMGs one. The Luke 3 is the HH with DiMarzio Transitions. Is that right?
Both Luke 1and 2 had HSS EMGs..
Luke 2 changed the bridge.
The Luke 3 can be ordered with HSS DiMarzios.
Never heard Lee sound that good.. he needs a Luke in his life
Love in your eyes!
Totally, dude, i'd so love to see the 7string as well
Those are the Dimarzio "Transition" Pickups! Which are Steve's signature set...
Amazing tone from the luke 3
That gain boost on the LIII is AWESOME!
Splendid review and demo! ; you've got me wanting a Luke III now. I'd get mine locally in California, of course, but I'd buy it from Anderton's if I lived in the UK.

I would love to see the uncensored raw footage of those conversations that made you guys laugh so hard! LOL!
luke 2 is the one that was before this one.. 10 years ago or so, they updated from luke 1 to luke 2.. a smaller body, different contures and different woods.. it was a small change, but enough to call it luke 2.. :)
The gain boost w/ eq that Laiho uses is badass.
+1 Chappers
Captain Lee is really tasteful with the guitar!
I Like that!! well put!
That luke III is fantastic, definitely need to try one of those bad boys.
I would love an outtake video of all the naughty bits from these review videos. there seems to be some fun going on...
Those DiMarzio are amazing I can clearly hear the HUM at 11:07 jejejeje I prefer it with EMG's....
There's a comment down below about that.
Great clean, really chimey. No mud in these pups.
EBMM has an active noise cancelling system too,
which is nice with P90s.
Love the sound of the dimarzios...EMGS sound the same on everything .....including broomsticks!!
Masters of the Universe !!!! Jeez Rob...I almost forgot one of my fav film from my childhood...*sniff*sniff* :D
The original Luke, or as it is known as by the fans "Luke 1" had a Floyd type locking trem and EMG pickups.

is the Luke 1 hard to find? I recently picked up an '08 for €1200 after searching 7 years for ANY affordable (lol) music man guitar.
Mister Lee Anderton! Captain! Please do a „The Captain meets Steve Lukather“ - Video! Pretty please!
thanks rob for making the video, i finally decide to get one of this after watching the video a couple of time.
cheers from indonesia

Lovin the tshirt captin.
Rob, I know andertons cant sell the axe fx, but I would still love to see you guys demo it. Is that a possibility?
What wood is the next on the Luke 3? I love that dark look!
Rosewood

I was at that B Day party too ;)
hello, would you say it can sound like a vintage strat or classic player 60 (custom 69 pickups ) Example Nile Rodgers for the neck pickup
or not so vintage?
Second i look for Knopfler's tone (pos 2 and 4) too
Where do I get those push \ push style pots at?
Can I just buy those and put them on my guitar?
the funny thing is is that kind of is how Steve Lukather talks ! hah
EBMM Luke is the Floyd-rose equipped guitar (just volume, no tone). Luke II is vintage trem, vol and tone pots that Rob is holding.
Oh, yeah I'm sure it was a special. I ran into 1 of 70 special signed Steve Morse guitars at my utterly unimportant, out of the way, small guitar center just the other day.
Anyway, how are the neck/middle middle/bridge selections on the p90 AL model?
The pickups are passive, but there is an active boost circuit installed. It obviously requires power, so the battery for is that...
Luke 1 is just an Luke 2 with Floyd rose... Luke 2 is what Rob is holding... And there is Luke 3...
He-man rules!!! I have a lot of action figures but I don`t know where...

Could you put in direct links that lead to the reviewed instrument on the andertons site, please
Please upload an uncensored version!
Sound like Steve Lukather without busting the bank... Right now!
That riff plays at the beginning of soooo many anderton's videos and i've had enough! i must know what song that is and how i can get it on my mp3 player
Damn, Chappers has some MAD skills!
More Music Man guitars please!

luke 1 is the early 1990s model with floyd rose. Luke 2 is the one rob plays, with vintage trem and optional piezo.
'Olive Gold' looks good .
Holy Crap.
fave guitar you guys have reviewed
Hello Team. Its always so enjoyable to see your videos. God bless you all.
Just wanted to know if you ship to India?
Music Man ftw!
Although you could probably order what you'd want from EBMM, the AL with the P90s has a maple neck. The HH AL has the rose wood neck. I have both and they are two of my favorite guitars that I've played. Really well put together, that would rival any other maker. I especially love the P90 AL.
Nice one Bea for being the only one that knows any Toto *rolls eyes* @ Chappers and the Captain.. :-p
Sometimes I cringe at the overwhelming ignorance and ego of Lee Anderton.
Please demo the rest of the Music man guitars!!! :)))
Hi Guys, The Pickups are called Transitions :)
Steve Morse Is a Living Legend!
You guys should do a note sustain video to see how many seconds you can hold a single note! Those pick ups are insanely hot!
MM makes superb guitars. Love my Petrucci JP-6 The Capt. is right, the neck will speed up your playing :-)
I know this is like video from 3 yrs ago but I'd like them to do some MusicMan guitar reviews as I'm looking into them and they have some new models, i think.... like St. Vincent Model
