Hi people. For those who can't get this type of help I'll tell you what helped me. I also made a hair oil for myself which comprised of 70% pimkinseed oil, 10% pepermint oil, 10% tea tree oil and 10% hemp oil. I noticed a BIG difference In the inflammation. My scalp stoped itching completely and the tenderness + sores/bumps I had on scalp subsided. hair loss stopped too. Hair regrowth has been slow but for sure its grown a little. Hello am experiencing the same condition from a relaxer I used 2019 ..from then have never healed am so depressed...could you share some of the treatment you used if you managed the condition please 🙏
I’m so glad I found this channel and clicked on your link. I’m actually in Atlanta. I just moved here my alopecia went from a quarter size to what is in this video in a week. I can only wear my hair up in high ponytail because I don’t have hair in the middle. And my ponytail is very painful. I will be making a appointment. Because I didn’t know where to start.

My stomach is flatter and I’m getting baby hairs.
I just cane across this video and I believe this is what I have. Of course I have had this condition for well over 10 years. I went to countless doctors and dermatologists. Getting blood work, scalp biopsies. They determined that I had skin lupus. A few years ago I asked a specialist and he didn't think I had it.
I permed my hair more than once, the harsh chemicals caused my hair loss and scarring. Chemicals on the scalp will affect the hair follicles, pulling hair too tight will cause the roots to loosen. Harsh treatment of hair will affect it.
Unfortunately no matter what natural organic products I've used it never fully grew back, I now have thin hair and use Nanogen hair fibres to fill in the thin parts and hair spray to keep it in place. Once you kill those hair follicles with chemicals it's not coming back short of a hair transplant.
LESEGO HALO I wore protective styles, mainly low tension braids, for a good year or so. I would let my hair breathe for only a few weeks in between styles. Other than that I just oiled more and made sure to deep condition every wash. But not touching my hair and massaging with the oil is really what helped it grow.

This is what I was diagnosed with in 2016. Luckily I managed to grow my crown back and from 2017-2020 it did amazing but then took a turn for the worst. All of 2021 was a nightmare. By October 89% of my crown always gone. I had surgery comming so I just shaved to start over. But now growth is non exisaant. Mixture of ccca and my other autoimmune disorder I’m gonna be bald forever
Please don’t say that you’ll be bald forever. There’s always hope. I know about Autoimmune diseases. . I have OA and CCCA. I’m working on diet, supplementation, and lowering my stress level. I’ve seen regrowth. So I’m hopeful. Best wishes to you. God bless.

Should you stop getting relaxers if you are diagnosed with CCCA? My dermatologist said I could continue to get them, but try to go 8 or more weeks in between. I truly believe the relaxers have caused me to get alopecia.
My dermatologist suggested I stop all chemicals... I use to relax my hair and color it and wear braids .. Try to put less tension on your hair if possible.. Also it could be your medications if you take any.. Stay positive 🙏🏾

I would say stop using relaxer or any type of chemicals. Since i stopped using relaxer i noticed that I don't have scarring anymore. I used to have severe scarring where my scalp would bleed when I scratched it and ever since I stopped relaxing my hair my scalp is better.
These relaxes also affect our uterus and internal organs, which in turn affect everything else. Wish my aunt had known about this before she relax my hair at 11 years old

I soo have this problem but I've seen a dermatologist here in NJ and they just not interested in help to get this under control. 😫 Man, i wish i lives in Altanta, GA...😔. Well thank you for the information. God bless 🙏.
I have this type of alopecia.. My dermatologist got me taking finasteride what they prescribed for men with prostate cancer.. He also recommended Rogaine but I refused to use it because once you stop your hair will fall out again..I really would like to know what supplements you prescribe for the inside of our body.
Wish I knew about you when I lived in ATL. I have this, and it runs in my family, along with male pattern baldness. Now it's already spreading outwards (thinning) and the crown is scarred.....When I went to a dermatologist 25 years ago, nothing was done.
Braidless extensions and microlink extensions are interesting. What about wigs as well? Wigs that have no combs and no adhesives and come off at night? Are those ok?
Struggling with hair loss, hair is sooo thin it's almost as if its not there in the crown area, my edges are okay though but biggest issue currently is the scalp inflammation, i get these bumps with puss and they painful. How do i get my scalp to stop hurting and the bumps to go away?
I had ringworm on my scalp and my hair hasnt been right since. It grows but in the areas affected by the ringworm it grows thin and break easily and its been over 20 yrs
I’m dealing with the same as well! I had ringworm last year. And it regrows then start the process over again 3-4 months later. This is my third time going through losing my hair where the ring worm scarred it.

I lost hair in my crown and my hairline. This was when I was 31. In the middle of my crown would itch and tingle. The hair was coming out. Eventually the hairs grew back but I lost hair and I have a bald spot in the middle of my head. I went to a dermatologist (white doc) he diagnosed me with alopecia areata. Now as I am typing this coming from another dermatologist office (the doc is black Female) she diagnosed me with CCCA. So I don’t think my hair will Grow back. She prescribed an oil that I have to use for the rest of my life so it doesn’t spread. Is there no hope? I don’t relax my hair. She said to stay away from the hair dryer and tight styles . Can you help Me?

Those in Colorado. Any good dermatologists in your area will know how to treat "scarring alopecia". There's more than one type. Scarring alopecia can affect anyone but CCCA is the one seen in 98% of AA. The treatment will be the same as the other scarring alopecia's bcos at the cellular level they're all the same. It's the inflammation that kills the stem cell in the follicle in all the "scarring alopecia's". Once the stem cell is gone that follicle scars over and no hair will ever grow there again..its permanent!. The scarring alopecia's have different characteristics that give it their name thus CCCA bcos it occurs in the central section of the scalp. Frontal fibrosis(another scarring alopecia) occurs near the forehead and extends back toward the crown. You'll need a biopsy to see which alopecia "scarring OR non-scarring" you have and then they'll know how to treat it. The thing is to get to a dermatologist asap!..the longer you wait the more damage that's occuring . Just find a good dermatologists in your area who has treated and/or understands alopecia(Im sure most do). Im in Dallas and couldn't find a black derm..I got desperate and just found a dermatologist(I ask questions to vet them). She is white but knew exactly what to do after my biopsy results. I had 2 different types of alopecia's and early CCCA was one of them. She gave me my treatment regimen and 2 months later, I can actually cornrow that sparse hair I had but it's still thin bcos I waited tooooo long and some of my follicles have already scarred over but at least the medicine has stopped the inflammation from spreading further..so now my scalp is healing and regenerating hair in the areas where the follicles were sick but still viable. Please go see a derm in your area cos at least you'll know which alopecia you actually have. I know how you feel and I hope I've helped someone. It's emotionally devastating SO be proactive and go see ANY good dermatologist in your area. You'll feel more empowered. Best to everyone.
In nj and my mom has seen a white derm I was not there at the time so I have no idea diagnosis. He perscribed shamooo and her hair fell out . She ended up shaving all off but I can see her self esteem is in the pits. Her scalp is always itchy . Where do I begin hair is our crown she does not like or wear wigs?
Sounds like your scalp is inflamed and possibly CCCA! How's the local search going? We do offer tele-treatments and send the products to you for home use if that would help at all?
@ caramelhoney29 sounds like your scalp is inflamed.. Like i stated in my post I went to a dermatologist.. He prescribed a foam for anti inflammation a foam called clobestol and it helped.. I no longer need to use if but go and see a dermatologist who specialize in scalp also..
Wow....I am utterly lost for words to how professional the process is. I so wish I lived in ATL. I'm in NC and in need of help for my ccca before it's too late. Any suggestions on how to connect with you?
Just leave the hair alone it will grow back…. Get some biotin tablets from Medplus and take everyday., do not relax or braid your hair just leave it alone. Wash once a week and condition it, it will grow back. Make sure you get your biotin and you can also add B12. Massage the area with some oil few times a week
Yes, like the beta blocker blood pressure medications and like chemotherapy and some instances. If you have to take a medication always ask your pharmacist if it has the side effect of hair loss. Sadly most times The Physician does not know. There are so many drugs to keep up with that I trust the pharmacist more in that area. They can at least give you a printout on the drug that you're taking so that you can read about the side effects. Physicians usually rely heavily on the drug reps who come in to promote their drugs.

I've done a video on my hair falling out; I guess this is why I got the recommendation. My dermatologist suggested I stop putting perms in my hair years ago when all of my hair was falling out. I was diagnosed with "Traction Alopecia" & "Seborrheic Dermatitis". Going natural helped me. I was chosen to be in a few events after my hair grew back. One day I was chosen to be a Black Panther in the movie "Forest Gump". At the time....they wanted someone who could wear a real Afro. It was a blessing I had just stopped wearing those perms. My hair grew back nice. Nowadays I watch my diet, whatever I feed my body, I'm feeding my mind, my hair, actually my entire body. I move, exercise no less than 20 minutes a day to get that blood circulation flowing. I get some sun, take my vitamins, I drink water, collagen, meditation, sleep, eat lots of fruits and veggies. I lean my head out the side of my bed some mornings slowly to get that blood flowing to my scalp. Sounds strange, but it works for me. Now that I'm older I have the patience to do all these things. I remember a time where I did not wrap my hair. I also remember when I use to eat a lot of pizza and hamburgers, I drank Kool-Aid, lots of sweet cake, pies, sodas, ate a lot of cheese, milk. My skin and hair was jacked up. Everything seemed to flare up on my body. I've come a long way. Ooohwee. I still have to be mindful of my lifestyle; when I stop exercising or indulge in certain foods; I see it in my skin and hair immediately. On my body.... this traction alopecia it's like a cold. It will reveal itself after all those years. This was back in 89/90 when I was in that dermatologist chair. I didn't want to hear the truth about letting go of that perm, or even my diet. SMH. It took me years to get it. I have to switch up on things sometimes vitamins etc. It just depends. Everyone is different, but basically almost the same. The pain is real. I try not to stress about it . Be Hopeful everyone. Takes time and patience along with great Dr's like Dr. Ross here to help us. 🙏🏾 Nice video and thank you Dr. Ross for sharing.

women need to have a relationship and get to know whats good for their hair, because all hair types are not the same. Shea butter, coca butter, i mean moisters that came from africa
They need to come out with a product that can hold moister for maybe a week or two..since the black woman's hair especially, needs stimulation for growth, pores open for breathing as well as absorbing, which water and hair food oils help lock the hair follicles, when twisted or braided from the scalp prevents dryness. Brushing is a plus for grooming new growth

I saw Dr. Barbosa’s profile online; she doesn’t take my insurance but I may have to look into seeing her. Ive been to 5 dermatologist and 4 say I have follicilitis decalvans w tufting of hair follicles and one says CCCA ; I need a solution as this has been getting progressively worse over the past 5 years. Itching bumps and sparse areas and scarring This happened also to a lesser degree when I was in college in 2007; and minocin a tetracycline medication similar to doxycycline class of drugs was prescribed to me and this resolved. I need to go to a competent doctor; my issue is worse than the college days but maybe the doxycycline or minocin May cure this. ...I’m believing my hair and scalp issues will be improved. We need more black dermatologist; also thanks to content creator for this video!!

I soo have this problem but I've seen a dermatologist here in NJ and they just not interested in help to get this under control. 😫 Man, i wish i lives in Altanta, GA...😔. Well thank you for the information. God bless 🙏.

I have been researching and glad I get to understand this hair loss
I have this type of alopecia.. My dermatologist got me taking finasteride what they prescribed for men with prostate cancer.. He also recommended Rogaine but I refused to use it because once you stop your hair will fall out again..I really would like to know what supplements you prescribe for the inside of our body.
Look up Dr. Berg on RUclips. Silica supplement will help!
How do you proceed if there are NO dermatologists/tricologists in your area??
Should you stop getting relaxers or get relaxers with no lye
Wow I’ve been dealing with this for 16 years wearing wigs and lace fronts cause I have no hair from my crown to the top of my head and my edges
Wish I knew about you when I lived in ATL. I have this, and it runs in my family, along with male pattern baldness. Now it's already spreading outwards (thinning) and the crown is scarred.....When I went to a dermatologist 25 years ago, nothing was done.
How's it looking now? Is it the same or worsening?
@@NinaRossAtl Right now it's about the same.
I'm so sorry. So many doctors do not listen or do not care what is happening with us. How are you doing now? Happy New Year!
Thanks for the positive feedback.
Do you have recommendations for trichologists who can treat this condition in NJ?
Hi there, unfortunately I do not have any referrals for that location.
❤️ but curious What are the supplements
I had ringworm on my scalp and my hair hasnt been right since. It grows but in the areas affected by the ringworm it grows thin and break easily and its been over 20 yrs
I’m dealing with the same as well! I had ringworm last year. And it regrows then start the process over again 3-4 months later. This is my third time going through losing my hair where the ring worm scarred it.
Very interesting information! Thank you so much for sharing and educating us!
how do i grow my hair again after having the CCCA
Thanks 🙏 I heard Alopecia is getting to be endemic among black Women. I too just got diagnosed with CCCa . I am fighting it
It really is becoming an epidemic. We're doing everything we can to reverse it though!
Been lossing hair since 2019 December trying different products nothing worked..visited a dermatologist yesterday n he said l ccca was very heartbroken 💔 im now 21 this started wen l was 17
CCCA is definitely tough to deal with but it is not a permanent hair loss situation. It is possible to grow back healthy strong hair, you just need the proper treatment routine that works with your body. If you are in need of assistance I would love to help. I have scarring already so it’s no hope for me. I never knew what was goin on except the fact that my hair won’t grow back in certain areas.
Mix msm with vitamin c and olive oil and rub into your scalp, try to change your eating habits as well if they’re bad.

Yes, it definitely can be. It's best to get a professional examination to ensure that is is CCCA.

Any recommendations for dermatologist in Colorado???! I saw one here and she had no clue about black hair.
I’m also in Colorado and need help!!
It's tough to find practitioners who understand CCCA! To help more people we started a virtual program where we customize treatments and send them to wherever you are. Take a look here and if you have questions let me know! www.ninaross.co/at-home

Am also suffering from alopecia hair pls what can I do to reverse my hair back?
I would love a consultation.. I m presently getting steroids shot from my dermatologist, however I m opened for additional help..
Good information thanks for the video 🐱
Hopefully I can find someone to help me locally. My crown area is shorter than the rest of my head. It also itches.
Consultation isn’t free anymore right? It’s 50$?
How do you diagnosis a client with CCCA without doing blood work?
CCA is diagnosed either by using a tricoscope, scalp biopsy or sometimes you can see from the visual eye whats has taken place
Do you think a fue hair transplant works?
Get some minerals and get on a plant based diet and you’ll see great results 🤩
Hey I want to know if you do online consultations?
Hi, yes we do have virtual consultations available as well!
What about dermarolling? Does that help?
This is when an ancestry test comes in handy. I can actually search my DNA if I know the name of the gene.

How can I get the consultation? I'm in Nigeria
Same here, I also live in Nigeria
Just leave the hair alone it will grow back…. Get some biotin tablets from Medplus and take everyday., do not relax or braid your hair just leave it alone. Wash once a week and condition it, it will grow back. Make sure you get your biotin and you can also add B12. Massage the area with some oil few times a week
Can certain medications cause hair loss?
Yes, like the beta blocker blood pressure medications and like chemotherapy and some instances. If you have to take a medication always ask your pharmacist if it has the side effect of hair loss. Sadly most times The Physician does not know. There are so many drugs to keep up with that I trust the pharmacist more in that area. They can at least give you a printout on the drug that you're taking so that you can read about the side effects. Physicians usually rely heavily on the drug reps who come in to promote their drugs.
Can you do tele - dermatology? People will pay
We actually do that! Learn more about the program here: ninaross.co/at-home

Thank you for the encouragement. Glad you are better. Happy New Year!💥💥
