In 2019, a partner of mine took his own life after a phone call to me. It was not really a call out of the ordinary, he had been with a friend having a few drinks. I had no idea he was struggling with so much. I wished up and down that I could have been there, and just talked to him, about anything. For months I’d dream about saving him in different scenarios. Being on the other side of something like this, being able to talk from experience, please talk to those around you. If you think you won’t be missed, you’re wrong. There is always someone for you, you just are missing it. The world is so populated with people- look around you and breathe. It’s 2023 and I am just now finding the strength to put myself into counseling. To anyone else that has experienced something similar I am so, so sorry. Hold those around you, and let them hold you. They might not understand how you feel, but you are loved.
I can’t imagine being so in love and close to someone and not realize he’s wanting to end his life that would break me in millions of pieces not being able to fix or talk with him and help, that is soo hard I honestly hope no one ever loses a loved one over suicide

I saw too many videos about women who were willing to meet their ex for the last time, or just to talk and they ended up dead. I always write don’t ever meet your ex alone. I am glad he didn’t hurt her. He seems to be a good guy with issues, I wish he had gotten therapy and moved on with his life.

Absolutely. My heart goes out to him in his suffering and I know that heartbreak shakes you apart to your core, but I cannot help but think of her, too. She was only 16 years old. You know she heard that gunshot. You can see him swiping his coat back to pull the gun right as the door finishes closing. He did that so quick. Right there in the hallway. Can you imagine the trauma that girl now lives with too? She was not grown enough to help him. Just a baby, really. My heart is broken for her, too.
I tried to take my own life 5 years ago. But I couldn't because I was the only child of my parents. And while my dad was emotionally absent and had his own problems with depression, my mom was working so hard to keep our family standing. She's been working away in another country for 10 years. I couldn't take my life bec of her. So now I'm still alive and doing better. I never knew things could get better. I never did. And every day I thank God for it. ❤️ Edit: ps, i wrote this post to tell people that things can get better. And things will get better. Hold on to whatever hope you can hold on to, no matter how small you think that hope is, hold on to it, and tightly. Take that hope and plant it in your soul, then water it by being kind to yourself. And because it gets hard to do that, and most days it feels like you don't even have the water to water the seed, find others who can water that seed for you. Open up to a person you trust, a friend or a family member, (but yea i know that's hard too) but most importantly, seek a therapist. Trust me, there are people out there who are willing to water your seed for you in the moments you need it most, and there are people out there who are glad that you exist and are alive. You can get through this. You. Can. And. You. Will.

Whoever u are and how u are today is how I felt few mths back. I was in love with a girl I'm older she's younger she ripped my heart into pieces... Long story short I got help. I was 22 and this bitch was 17 and her dad worked with the cops and he said it was fine . He was an amazing guy and she was very smart. You gotta remember this is America ... And there is no such thing as a perfect age . Everyone matures differently I have a daughter and would feel the same. As long as I got to know the guy and he was respectful. To each there own

I think it's more about what country you're from and differing cultures. In the UK 16 is legal full stop. It's also well known that girls mature quicker than guys through late teens, which is why it's really common for 16/17/18 yo girls to go with older guys. For us in the UK this age gap wouldn't be a huge deal. Just more so some people might think he's a bit immature. But she could also be really mature for her age too? I moved out at 15, and supported myself from that age. So at 16 I was very much living as an adult. So it's unfair to judge everyone because you're so used to American culture and your legal system. You have to understand that it's different for other people that are from different countries.

While it is very sad he couldn’t work though the pressure of life and did what he did….. this 16 year old girl had to deal with the misplaced guilt of his passing, while simultaneously processing how she is affected by being a teen dating an adult.

After 5 years of relatnshp, we broke up and i was already very ill, mentally and physically. Ive seen no point in living , got depression , eating disorder and many more. *Let cut some more. I was hanging myself at 3 am while my parents are still asleep , never thought my father would wake up to pee lol🤣🤣what a timing. I was almost unconscious already but he cut the rope and call ambulance and after that i was in hospital for a month i think. Ive taken some therapy session and im very good now. But that relationship is still haunting me and ive never had gf again, its nit because i dont want a gf but im scared to be in a relationship again. Your still young so study hard and after u could stand in ur own feet and put a bread in your dining table for your family then find a gf , or someone might find u if ur lucky🙃.. just dont be in a hasty..good luck in your life

This is so horribly sad- that someone is so heartbroken that even EXISTING is too painful. That's just unbelievably sad. I've been hurt by relationships really badly, but man. This is why mental health is so important. I keep thinking of things but then think of how the system really makes ppl jump thru hoops for simple things...which just makes me more upset about all of it. My prayers go out to his family and her as well. So sad.
It’s such a crazy sad thing that we all seem to experience unfortunately. When I got dumped after 2 years it’s like my hope started fading and color was vanishing from the world. It’s crazy how physically sick heartbreak can make you. I thought about ending my life and I’ve only just recently gotten to where I’m more comfortable just living but it’s still hard. Hope everyone who goes through that is able to make it out.
I’ve been lucky to have a woman who will ask if I’m ok. She knows what I’ve been through and helps make my life Better. Every day I wake up is because of her.

Yeah not going to lie, it's something I'm going through right now and it's tough. Mental health has been on a downward spiral since the beginning of 2020 as I graduated from uni and wanted to start my career and move out with my girlfriend of 6 years, with the goal of starting my career, proposing to her and finally feel like I'm making progress. Covid meant I couldnt land that job, pushing my mental state, which pushed her away and eventually she couldn't take my negative mental state anymore which lead to arguments, stress, etc. We broke up, meaning I haven't landed my career job or moved out, lost my girlfriend and never got to propose. It's hard to do this without her tbh. Those thoughts do creep in every now and then. However I am seeking help :)

I'm just now starting to heal from basically the same. My girlfriend of 8 years just recently left me with absolutely no red flags or any indication at all. Our relationship was pretty healthy actually. She apparently just suddenly didn't want to be with me anymore. We were together for almost a decade every second of every day except for work. I really thought everything was fine but she secretly had her aunt drive from KY to TX to pick her up in the middle of the night and I haven't talked to her 4 months. This really broke me in so many ways and I've never been one to have crazy thoughts like that run through my head but I loved this girl more than anything in this world and would've done anything for her no matter what. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to endure mentally in my entire life and there's not a day that goes by where I don't break down crying and beat myself up thinking of what I could've done to prevent it from happening. This has been the first time I've spoken out about it to anyone. My 2 cats keep me sane because they're always here to keep my spirits up during my moments. 😞
Wow I've had that happen I couldn't eat sleep or stop crying for months...you will get through this..this was her problem nothing wrong with you....you will learn and grow from this I promise and God will send you someone who tries loves you eventually..heartbreak is the worst pain. But the pain does go away I promise you...I been there..I wanted to die I had a young child at the time that's the only reason I didn't die to be completely honest..

Or when they complete you but only for a set time, and it fizzles off and they leave it the hobby no longer holds your attention? Only Jesus can make you fully complete. Just give Him a try. I hope you get better and wish you the best. I also wish her the best, I’m not sure what sort of MH crisis or breakdown she was going through but sometimes mental illness makes us do things like this. Sometimes it’s the best thing for us to detox and try to reset life, I just pray she gets her life in order.
I tried sending my life after my bf left me /cheated on me after 3 years together. I didn't shower or get out of bed for weeks. But after getting out the hospital from my overdose I came to realize I need to do something cause I need to save myself. So I packed up and moved to Oregon from Cali. Started new. It was hard but it was the best decision I have ever made. He recently reached out to me after 5 years and we forgave each other.

Legal in mine as well. I was 16 with a 21 year old. Once I reached 21 I was like damn that was f***** up because there's no way in hell at 21 I would have dated a 16-year-old 18 year old or anything like that. Hell when I was 18 I had a 16 year old hit on me and I was like no I'm good apparently he's 40 now and still tries to talk to teenage girls

Did u ever thought people do that not out of guilt, but bc that's the last straw. It's like when someone off after having a really bad day. In that mindset he already was thinking about it and that's just what set them over the edge. Like one of my friends poured milk over my food since I was scrapping every last bite even the drops of syrup (I didn't have food at home) and it set me over and I nearly fought him. In hindsight I didn't really care, but at the time I was having a really rough time with my family situation and when I let it out I had a drastic reaction same way that guy did.

Even if she made the breakup, she’ll most like blame herself if not than question what could have been if maybe she didn’t leave or just stayed and talked for an extra minute. It’s crazy that I depicted this down to the T, aside from the music just the body language alone was very strong. It’s as if watching his own life force walk away from him. 16-23 is a weird year for men, we so emotionally unfit during those years...everything just hits you all at once. You're trying to figure out and understand yourself, what your life is, how you're going to make it, you're filled with lust, love, fear, and somehow just want to have fun and also be responsible....Its just confusion and excitement at the same time. Its usually the age group where you start shedding friends, "bestfriends" turn snakes or low key haters. But just understand it's all part of life, dont jump into situations, be patient with everything and everyone, but especially yourself. It's all about growth and not everyone will be by your side or for you. The main thing is focus on your money, dont play with your job, save, save, save. Sometimes people just need someone to listen and hug. Don't be afraid to hug your friends. I watched one of my classmates slowly lose a smile throughout the year because 5 of his 6 friends decided to end their journey in life and everyday he hugs and cares for the one he has left. Saddest thing I've ever seen, let your friends know they are loved. It will encourage them to open up and let you know that you are loved. Men feel alone in the world, we feel like the only way to go through life is to be manly and strong but strong doesnt mean you can't show love, concern and even your own moments mental vulnerability. We all face it but we always feel it's only us because no ever really shows it.

It’s okay to be vulnerable to the right people (therapists). I like the encouragement but sharing out loud can often burden people who don’t know how to console you. Also, people will label you for it, which in turn could do more harm. Always recommend therapy and to see if you could get professional help. Sad he was stuck in a time, where most help wasn’t encouraged.

In 2019, a partner of mine took his own life after a phone call to me. It was not really a call out of the ordinary, he had been with a friend having a few drinks. I had no idea he was struggling with so much. I wished up and down that I could have been there, and just talked to him, about anything. For months I’d dream about saving him in different scenarios.
Being on the other side of something like this, being able to talk from experience, please talk to those around you. If you think you won’t be missed, you’re wrong. There is always someone for you, you just are missing it. The world is so populated with people- look around you and breathe.
It’s 2023 and I am just now finding the strength to put myself into counseling. To anyone else that has experienced something similar I am so, so sorry. Hold those around you, and let them hold you. They might not understand how you feel, but you are loved.
My heart breaks for you and your loss , but I'm glad you were able to remain strong and seek help for the pain. I hope you're blessed

And while my dad was emotionally absent and had his own problems with depression, my mom was working so hard to keep our family standing. She's been working away in another country for 10 years. I never knew things could get better. I never did. And every day I thank God for it. ❤️

Hold on to whatever hope you can hold on to, no matter how small you think that hope is, hold on to it, and tightly. Take that hope and plant it in your soul, then water it by being kind to yourself. And because it gets hard to do that, and most days it feels like you don't even have the water to water the seed, find others who can water that seed for you. Open up to a person you trust, a friend or a family member, (but yea i know that's hard too) but most importantly, seek a therapist. Trust me, there are people out there who are willing to water your seed for you in the moments you need it most, and there are people out there who are glad that you exist and are alive. I think it's more about what country you're from and differing cultures. In the UK 16 is legal full stop. It's also well known that girls mature quicker than guys through late teens, which is why it's really common for 16/17/18 yo girls to go with older guys. For us in the UK this age gap wouldn't be a huge deal. Just more so some people might think he's a bit immature. But she could also be really mature for her age too? I moved out at 15, and supported myself from that age. So at 16 I was very much living as an adult.
So it's unfair to judge everyone because you're so used to American culture and your legal system. You have to understand that it's different for other people that are from different countries.

After 5 years of relatnshp, we broke up and i was already very ill, mentally and physically. Ive seen no point in living , got depression , eating disorder and many more. *Let cut some more. I was hanging myself at 3 am while my parents are still asleep , never thought my father would wake up to pee lol🤣🤣what a timing. I was almost unconscious already but he cut the rope and call ambulance and after that i was in hospital for a month i think. Ive taken some therapy session and im very good now. But that relationship is still haunting me and ive never had gf again, its nit because i dont want a gf but im scared to be in a relationship again. Yeah not going to lie, it's something I'm going through right now and it's tough. Mental health has been on a downward spiral since the beginning of 2020 as I graduated from uni and wanted to start my career and move out with my girlfriend of 6 years, with the goal of starting my career, proposing to her and finally feel like I'm making progress.
Covid meant I couldnt land that job, pushing my mental state, which pushed her away and eventually she couldn't take my negative mental state anymore which lead to arguments, stress, etc. We broke up, meaning I haven't landed my career job or moved out, lost my girlfriend and never got to propose. It's hard to do this without her tbh.
Those thoughts do creep in every now and then. However I am seeking help :)

I'm just now starting to heal from basically the same. My girlfriend of 8 years just recently left me with absolutely no red flags or any indication at all. Our relationship was pretty healthy actually. She apparently just suddenly didn't want to be with me anymore. We were together for almost a decade every second of every day except for work. I really thought everything was fine but she secretly had her aunt drive from KY to TX to pick her up in the middle of the night and I haven't talked to her 4 months. This really broke me in so many ways and I've never been one to have crazy thoughts like that run through my head but I loved this girl more than anything in this world and would've done anything for her no matter what. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to endure mentally in my entire life and there's not a day that goes by where I don't break down crying and beat myself up thinking of what I could've done to prevent it from happening. This has been the first time I've spoken out about it to anyone. My 2 cats keep me sane because they're always here to keep my spirits up during my moments. 😞

I watched one of my classmates slowly lose a smile throughout the year because 5 of his 6 friends decided to end their journey in life and everyday he hugs and cares for the one he has left. Saddest thing I've ever seen, let your friends know they are loved. It will encourage them to open up and let you know that you are loved. Also, people will label you for it, which in turn could do more harm. Always recommend therapy and to see if you could get professional help. Sad he was stuck in a time, where most help wasn’t encouraged.
