I'm planning to modify my matchbox Mercedes CLS with Satsuki's theme in mind!
I'm getting mine with the pre-order bonus, the bonus being Bakuzan Gako and Bakuzan Kouryu.
I wish they would have designed the straps in a complete different way, your review made me realize how it's not only visually inaccurate but it also makes you hesitant to move the torso that much. Nonethelss the likeness is spot-on and the accesories are excellent. An overall great figma, even if a bit pricey (but that's sadly becoming the norm).
The ironic thing is that the prices for a Ryuko figma now are pretty jacked up.
My Satsuki's coming soon but I won't be opening mine until I find a decently priced Ryuko.
Speaking of posing and being dynamic, a lot of us are curious as to how Kaiyodo would have handled the license with their Revoltech line, especially if Yamaguchi had a hand in sculpting them. A good reference are the many Gurren Lagann robots.
I think if Revoltech did Kill la Kill then we'd end up with figures that could ONLY do dynamic poses. They also wouldn't be easy to pose and kinda feel like shit in hand. My bigger concern would be how they'd actually look though - of all the Japanese action figure manufacturers they're by far the worst.
Can you tell I'm not a fan of Revoltechs? Actually I don't even know why I still own ALL the Gurren Lagann ones lol
I don't think they would be too bad of figures. Recent Revoltech figures have been improving upon the older stuff with updating the joint system and sculpts becoming more pronounced.
The closest example comparison I can make if KLK went Revo would be the Revengeance Raiden figure. From my time owning him, he hasn't had any issues with regards to posing and can stand perfectly fine considering his clawed heel foot design.
While I wouldn't say they are the worst manufacturers, I can agree that they wouldn't be my first selection if a property I like would receive the Japanese figure treatment. That being said though, I think they do fill a certain purpose as a company that does produce figures for properties that wouldn't normally get figures in 1:12 scale.
As for Gurren Lagann, if I wasn't so dirt poor right now I'd try hitting you up for those figures if you didn't want them anymore, haha! At least owning TTGL, SGGL, AGL and regular GL would be pretty cool with them all posed together. It's too bad though that they never continued forward by making a STTGL and Granzemboa / Super Granzemboa among not making any of the humans apart from Yoko.
I got Satsuki, and I like her a lot, but her weird hip frills constantly unpeg, her one hand likes to fall off, and it took 15 minutes of fiddling to even come close to matching her box pose. Now I wish I had gotten a Ryuuko (even though I like Satsuki more).
anyone else have the problem with the figma stand not entering the whole way in the back slot on the back of the figure? Not sure if that's just my figure or a flaw of the figure itself.
I wish I could have her by now, but she's combined with Racing Miku 2014 and Iron Man Mark 45 Figuarts >< but at least I'll have a lot of figures to screw around with in September xD
STOKED that she comes with an adapter to complete the scissor blade! A feature I wasn't expecting! Just curious if you are planning on ordering from GSC to get the special bonuses in the future? I'm torn on a recent pre-order available, and was wondering what your thoughts are on the GSC store bonuses for figmas.

Yuuichinoyatsu Generally I don't get the GSC exclusives. I've always found that their exclusive items have never been MUST have things. Take Satsuki for example, her GSC bonus part was Bakuzan in two parts. It's cool but that weapon is more for the Satsuma x Senketsu form.
Don't get me wrong, I've been tempted but never regretted skipping them.
I hear you. I've also felt that the bonus parts haven't been interesting enough to merit a purchase through their online shop, but the recent bonus face for the Sonoda Umi figma has me torn >< Maybe if she was in a costume rather than a school uniform, it'd make me favor getting her through GSC, but as it stands I think I'll stick with my amiami pre-order after all =)

I asked GS about it and they said it depends on the popularity and demand. I guess if many people email them in the product requests section they might do a mako figma (also i hope,the elite four)
In terms of accessories, quality,poseability, and overall presentation, which is better figma Chariot tv animation ver. or figma Satsuki Kiryuin?

Personally GoodSmile could of done better on the design of the straps on Satsuki and Matoi. What they could of done and could of been way better too is if they designed insert slots/holes underneath the breast and have the straps to be excess/longer that they tuck away inside holes into the upper torso. So as you bend her forward, the straps tuck in, and being longer straps the straps just pull out a bit as you move her side to side. And have her back straight up the straps are lined up the same. Still not much of a change in forward crunch articulation but it gives more articulation as you would of been able to move her side to side. The back spine piece, would of been better if it was able to collapse in, but GoodSmile doesn't do that type of articulation.
Yea, this was an error on all the satsukis. the left side has some extra length.
Just got mine today and it looks like those warped straps are a widespread issue...
That said, the sculpt is soooo well done that, ignoring every issue I found was the easiest thing ever @___@
