This video would absolutely shut down an argument I heard from a doctor friend (heart surgeon) years ago. He brought in his Mercedes Benz for work. He asked the mechanic why it cost so much to fix. The mechanic jokingly asked the doctor why it was any different for the doc to make so much for what he did as the mechanic claimed when he replaced an oil pump it was sort of like a heart transplant or heart surgery, because when you come down to it an oil pump is the heart of a car, if it's toast the engine is trash.. The doctor replied "Yeah, but can you do it while the engine is still running?" Which pretty much ended the argument. *Until now.* Thanks Garage54 for answering that burning question for me. 🤣🤣 now I'll watch the video. Also thanks for the translations man. I've been with this English channel from the start and it's great to see it grow so much. 😎
What that smartass doctor didn't admit to is that they stop the heart and use a heart/lung machine, which oxygenates and pumps blood, during the surgery.

I just watched the video. I think that puts what my dad did to shame. My dad works out in the bush for a logging company. While out camping in the winter, they all knew if they turned the diesel truck off they wouldn't be able to get it started again. Mid day, it is the co-workers job to fill the diesel. Mid, night it was the boss's job to fill it. The truck RUN the WHOLE trip, with a **oil change** mid trip.
The comment that "it's a Lada, it's always 13s" made me laugh - I always say the same of my Mini, although it's the old British equivalent of a half inch spanner. I often say "it's a Mini, they're all half" so I'm glad I'm not alone!

My record time for removing and replacing the engine and have it running is 20 minutes. It was on a NASCAR that we have swapped engines a lot so one me and 1 other guy decided to see. After 20 minutes we had oil pressure no leaks the timing and idol set. Was ready to go except for the suspension setup. And we changed the read end gear also. They use Ford 9” rear ends. Pretty fast to swap. Back when you could change engines during a race I think they got down to 10 minutes pulling out a hot fresh off the track running gear and drop another in it and be back on the track in 10 minutes. That’s outlawed now. Was before my time. The team owner told me about that. But never tried one running and doubt I will. Keep up the great videos guys.

So glad to hear you are doing well again! What you could have done to cool the engine while you were working is leave the heater core connected and running with valves on the hoses. Leave the heater hoses until last and connect them to the white car first after filling the heater core with water and open the valves up. The heater should be plenty of cooling to keep that little engine reasonably cool while you swap it over. Just a suggestion :)
LMMFAO when the car stalled there was like a 2 minute *BEEEEEEP* to sensor the 30 curse words flying around the garage. I have been there before. 16:37
Stalling the motor kills the whole purpose of doing this. anybody who would need to swap it while it's running would have to keep it running, like if they were out in the boonies, with no charge battery, and no way to start this motor. keeping it running until they get it charging the battery again, would be the only way to keep everything alive. so not letting it stall would be very important in this case.
You could have hooked the water pump inlet to a garden hose and the same for the thermostat housing and put it out the garage door. Or circulate the water in a big tote, like a 30 gallon with a small impeller type fluid transfer pump to pump it to the water circulation pump.
Would love to see you guys convert a car to be driven in the same manner as a an outboard boat motor with a tiller arm that you twist for the throttle and steers the rear wheels.

There is no radiator! They've connected the top and bottom hoses!
Coolant is the second best thing to put in the radiator.

That place in the first shot looks like a dayz the russian inspired game, just like this place with all the shacks and brick buildings, everything looks so well painted in that town and it looks nice
