There was no excuse for Dede. She didn't know boundaries. And they weren't in the same financial position when they had kids. For her to assume that Jay was going to be exactly the same with Gloria shows how she didn't think people changed, grew, and matured. Cos she certainly hadn't. In the end even though Gloria was by no means a replacement mother with Claire and Mitchell, she blended into their family and filled a lot of gaps.
Yeah She was a narcissist. She not only compares herself to Gloria but she did that with Claire to her own daughter. I remember Claire once mentioned didi used to never any of her events because she didn't like claire was doing better and even dated her teen age boyfriend just for show. Then she completely tries to control Mitchell's life with emotional blackmail and later on with the help of cam. And even though she was the one who divorced jay to find herself she always makes scenes like jay divorce her to be with Gloria .
I don’t think this was supposed to excuse Dede’s actions. It’s more like a “yeah she’s a shitty person, but that doesn’t mean I can’t feel bad for her cause of the shitty situation she was in”.
If they start agreeing that may be bcz you were actually the problem like in this case. Objectively Jay was in the wrong (obvi) and I’m glad Gloria called him out on it

My condolences to all the families that lost their loved ones. Its sad to lose any of my comrades during conflict. One thing will never be forgotten. They lost their lives serving their country and helping others that that really need it. A salute to all three of my comrades one last time. She’s a narcissist if I remember correctly in the show she constantly compared herself to her own daughter as well and I think Claire even said Dede never attended her events because her mother couldn’t stand that Claire was better than her at something. At one point in the show Dede even dated Claire’s old high school boyfriend to prove a point. Dede tries to manipulate and control Mitchell’s life, it all has to be about her and as far I remember in the show Dede never takes accountability for her own actions. I think she never changed her ways while Jay did mess up too but he changed to do better for his family while Dede did not. So I say Dede sucks too.
actually she was not dumped for Gloria, she left Jay before. She was tired and Jay was not the best of father and husband, Gloria had nothing to do with their breakup, Jay just moved on really easily
