    One of the coolest-looking airplanes out there. Hard to believe how old, yet advanced, it is, using spoilers for roll control to allow for full-span, double-slotted flaps to make up for the high wing loading. I'm not generally a fan of buying a lot of add-ons as the "native" aircraft are mostly well-executed (and there are so many problems with the sim), but I jumped on this one when it became available and it's been fun so far. That said, I wouldn't mind if they added the long-fuselage version and even more modern avionics, as most MU-2s have been retrofitted (that's a really old panel). Too bad you can't easily modify panels like you could in FS9. I learned on steam gauges (way before GPS--we used paper charts and mostly VORs and NDBs to navigate) but I really appreciate the improved situational awareness since moving maps appeared. The Garmin option does provide a reasonable balance.

    Absolutely agree with @RKCmix. Very glad the RUclips algorithm picked you up and dropped you off on my home page. As a new pilot, I usually train on the C172 but, ever since I've got MSFS 2020 I've wanted to try other interesting aircrafts. This was definitely inspiring. Well shot and very well presented. dont forget to monitor EGT on start... and make sure the RPM is increasing more than 1% per second after lightoff.. all i saw you do is flip the switches, but didn't hear any callouts for observations.. you may have been watching, i dunno... but it wasn't shown as the proper procedure..

    I'm curious what you think about the update. I was one of many people who originally felt that the aircraft had a tendency to stick to the runway, but after some research I felt that it was actually accurate. They've however since toned that down.

    • @EricTFDC
      @EricTFDC  9 месяцев назад

      I’m testing out the update now. I’ve been reading about those takeoff issues. I had just gotten used to that sticking and worked against it by using less flaps and more trim…

    • @EricTFDC
      @EricTFDC  9 месяцев назад

      To be honest that feeling of being stuck on the ground is still there until rotation going through 100 kts with flaps set to 20. I’m not sure what in the FM causes that but it’s not really something that bugs me terribly. What I notice the nose is with trim settings at 2 degrees nose up, it still has a lot of lift and I still have to push forward to keep from going vertical. I’m not a real pilot and I do not know any pilots who have flown the mu2 but I’m not sure it should behave that way after takeoff. Gotta definitely be on your toes flying it 😂
      All in all I still love what they gave us (with the update as well) The sounds of the engines from the cockpit sound are more lively and there is now another Garmin panel. Colors of the instrument are also better and thrust and drag seem to also be a lot more reactive.

    Very good video. You give me the taste to fly this bird again who provide a new experience of flight. I dont acheive how to use the legacy panel especially the weather radar. Also I have difficulty to join ALT button when Im in VR, I need to put my head between my legs to join it 😂. I flew yesterday with GPS and it work very well. Very good plane from InBuilds again and thank you so much for this short overview. Suscribed and liked done 😁😁

    Does it simulate “putting the props on the locks” for shutdown? It wasn’t mentioned taking them off In the after-start, so just curious.

    • @EricTFDC
      @EricTFDC  10 месяцев назад

      I unfortunately did not see anything outside of feathering in the cockpit given that it’s not “full fidelity”. Do you know if the real Mu2s have prop locks?

    • @4lifeifly
      @4lifeifly 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@EricTFDC that’s too bad. They do, virtually any aircraft with Garrett TPE-331s will have prop locks. They keep the props from going into feather when oil pressure is lost on shutdown, so that during start, there is less air resistance and it’s a little easier on the battery to spin up a prop in fine pitch. You typically just have to pull the props into reverse briefly after start to “pull the props off the locks” and then they function like normal.

      @@4lifeifly it doesnt. this to me was one of the most dissappointing things about this aircraft. spent alot of time in the FSW MU2 on Fsx.. even the speed is off wont see more than 250KTAS with the prop Rpms way below 96%..im guessing they made it this way for ease of use but still.
