Another loss to the foundation... another pioneer of space flight gone. Their loss will be mourned, and lessons surely learned. Else public support for the foundation crack.
HIGH GAIN TRANSMISSION, ENCRYPTION LEVEL DELTA
Analysis of the Ka 3 as follows
Current Altitude ceiling, 75 km
Current speed record during climb, 1200 m/s
Aerodynamic profile... Quite frankly, superior to the X-2.
The Ka 3 seems to have taken some lessons learned from high speed russian interceptors, featuring heavily swept wings and a relatively small vertical stabilizer. If this is an indication of future fighter designs, I suspect the USA will need to drastically improve technology in this area. As it stands. The Ka-4 is proposed to have an even more advanced pressurization system, and with the Ka-3s current proven capabilities, it would breach the karmen line. Making the ruskies able to put the first man into space, albiet not into orbit. In addition. The phenomenal success rate of the engines of the Ka-3 are in part what aided in the success of the sputnik satellite launch, replacing the previously... less than reliable engine.
In short. Expectations of future developments sees the ruskies potentially making viable Single rocket craft vessels capable of reaching orbit, or ultra long range reconnaissance aircraft from the developments within their Ka program. Additional goverment grants may be required to bridge the technological gap. And it would appear there is also a power struggle due to the sudden demise of komrade joseph kerman due to, and I quote "Sudden heart attack brought on by supersonic paint fleck slamming into his window" Perhaps there will be some benefits to this space race beyond the obvious?
And out of character, nice work on the editing of this video, adding in those effects for various rocket launches. Though I do have one complaint. The sputnik of this timeline apparently was playing the national anthem of the union. Then again. Recording could have been damaged during launch, so all good there.
Thank you for your brave work, informant. Unfortunately, but fortunately, this comment has newly been deemed pin worthy. This might result in your status being compromised. o7 God speed.
@@N9GamingOfficial*quiet muttering* as if it wasn't bad enough last time... never doing face to face handovers again. Not in this posting. Deaddrops maybe...
Understood november niner, expect no transmission in 1955 save for an exceptional occurance.
That's some excellent intelligence report! Especially the part where you urge for more funding, the senate should really look into that!
And keep your sources well fed and happy, they might relay us further intel in the coming months. What do they want as payment anyways? I hear toilet paper is a sought after commodity in Soviet countries these days. Maybe we can spare a roll or two even of this pricy good, this intel is golden!
@@symbioticcoherence8435 Some have requested access to international media. Music, movies, major news stories, that sort of thing. Others have requested food shipments to help feed their families. Fairly normal things all considered. Oh. Right. One requested a boatload of Soviet Rubles for the intel they were able to provide on it's performance.
*casually snaps a photo and rushes back to the USSR*
Beardy: puts satellite in orbit in 1954
N9: l o n g b o i
I now know the superior youtuber
Edit: call the satellite the short boi
short boi, nice XD
*gasp* YES CALL THEM THE SHORT BOYES!
@@beagle_uah BOI ONE :D
@@AWENGERR YAAAAA
Short boi for the win
For the Satellite, in the tradition of asking the internet to name things, it is my duty to suggest:
Orbiter McSpaceface.
(But more seriously not that)
No yes that, orbit mcorbitface
Orbiter McSpaceface is what we must name it
@@nethascotx24 idk, it doesnt sound................ like nasa.
You go to penguin for the winning POV but you come to N9 for the smooth voice and narration.
My suggestion for the name of the "Explorer", is "Conqueror", i guess it's simple and defines the current situation of the program and future goals, good luck.
I absolutely love hearing the sound of the rockets, they sound so awesome.
Awesome! It was a new edition this episode, had fun editing
All credit to Robert A. Heinlein, who wrote about humans living on the Moon by 1970 and exploring Mars before 1980. One of the names given a "first" exploration vessel in his future history (coincidentally, written about when your RP1 career is currently, the mid-1950s) was *Pathfinder*. So much more than an Explorer, the Pathfinder doesn't just discover, it marks out the the trail for others to follow.
Big votes for this one, fwiw. If we're going to do a fun alternate history, a nod to sci-fi dreams of the past sounds perfect.
Honestly yeah, Pathfinder might just be what it is named, I like that a lot - we shall see!
@@N9GamingOfficial Another idea could be Spearhead (with dedication to Milton brave and true.) It's a synonym to Pioneer, and aesthetically the satellite is spear-like.
R.I.P. TO MILTON KERMAN He was a brave pilot and he will not be forgotten.

The engineers thought the name "long boi" was good but in hindsight it's not great to put on an "in memoriam"
2nd landing site. Milton Mauro
But o7
He probably will be because more deaths are yet to come
I vow to thee, my country
All earthly things above
Entire and whole and perfect
The service of my love
And there's another country
I've heard of long ago
Most dear to them that love her
Most great to them that know
We may not count her armies
We may not see her King
Her fortress is a faithful heart
Her pride is suffering
And soul by soul and silently
Her shining bounds increase
And her ways are ways of gentleness
And all her paths are peace
R.I.P Milton Kerman. 1928-1954

Love this series, seems like you post a new episode every two to three weeks. Proud of it.
Hoping to do every 2 weeks!
Ok cool.
I think the satellite should be named "Milton's Memorial" to show respect to Milton and all other Kerbals lost in the quest for space exploration.
I may have something more grand planned as a memoir to fallen kerbonauts
@@N9GamingOfficial ❤️
Discovered this series last episode and love it! Keep up the great work!
I think every episode gets new people in! And this series deserves such love
I really like your format, N9. It feels like watching a documentary series.
If you' did one on the actual history of the space race, I'd watch it all the way there and back.
I love how much the modpack and competition enforce a lot of risk/benefit and time management choices.
Great installment as always! Appreciate the mission patch making it’s way into the video :)
Yeah absolutely! Too good not to share (:
Enjoying both perspectives immensely , Very fun to watch you two compete in RP-1
Rimor I (Latin for explorer) for the satellite name is my suggestion. Loving the series so far!
*Dude i feel in love for your Editing Style*
Enjoying the series a ton guys! you should take this on past the moon after you both get there.. set the time clocks and maybe have a race to mars? Keep it up!
This is such a great series.
Is there a list of mods you used to play that experience myself?
Not a particular list, but 99% of the mods are installed via the step by step guide linked in the description!
Rest in peace Milten you shall be remembered.
And love the design of the newer orbital like rockets
if he ever builds a space shuttle he should call it Enterprise
This is a fantastic series. You and Beardy have different video styles but are both very watchable. Looking forward to seeing what you guys get up too in the future.
Another awesome episode as always.
One quick thing, I don't know if it was intentional, but in case it was I like it better when you narrate the things as they occur in screen, for example:
when narrating the pilot's death, the clip was still showing him flying high above while you were saying that his wing had crashed into the runway.
It'd be much better if as you were say we could watch it unfold, this was the case in older episodes.
I also like when you add the dates ik screen, it's a really small touch but really adds to the atmosphere.
All in all great video, really love your series and the russians' one too! :)
Yeah it was an attempt to fit the video into a shorter amount of time, but I'll refrain from doing that!
You hands down make the best ksp cinematics on the internet love all your ksp videos
Good job! These videos, although they are long, are entertaining and high quality.
Man please keep going, you are an amazing creator, and I believe that you will get your success!
Love your videos !
Im not watching beardy's videos and the sputnik 2 launch made me jump, like what!
Call the sat short boi because someone else said that and I love it and call the rocket the Milton Mk1 in honor of our fallen pilot
I do like seeing your subscriber count go up. Well deserved.
I thought Beardy's episodes were better at first. Now I prefer these ones. I like the timeline style.
R.I.P. Milton Kerman, you will forever live on in our hearts.
awesome ! best ksp series since scott finished his campaign
27:39 I actually recognize that background audio from the explorer 1 launch!
Those were some nice sounding rockets! Approved.
Glad you think so!!
Obviously the satellite should be called the Hot Dog. :P
Dude I love this series!!!! You got this N9 👍
Hmmmmmmmm I'm curious how you can see this video before it's supposed to be released xD
Yeah I was also wondering that but I was very excited to see this episode 😂
Haha I think it was a setting for putting it into a playlist early? Anyways welcome to the video early! It'll be officially out sometime tomorrow (:
weekly uploads pog
@@N9GamingOfficial for me the same day! :D
YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS ive been looking forward to this
I'm having a ton of fun catching up on both sides of this series! Keep it up, this is great. And without a doubt you have the best-looking KSP videos out there, your cinematography is fantastic and the use of real world audio adds a ton to the immersion on these episodes. Excellent work!
Great vid and RIP Milton. You should name the satellite after him.
I like the rocket go vroom sounds
This series is amazing i love learning and watching how rockets and the space program began keep up the good work
Man, I'm over here leaking a single tear for poor Miltion. R.I.P my dude. I feel super lucky to have not lost any kerbals with my X planes yet... but I have been using LES since day one lol
they beat us to orbit lets beat them to the moon
The N1 failed IRL but it shall succeed here, for all Kerbalkind!
For the motherland
I see the work done at 2 AM (22:43), Love the dedication!
XD oops
Me: leaves video window to look at when it was uploaded
In the corner of my eye: “RIP MILTON KERMAN”
Me: I hate spoilers
Yeaaah comments are a dangerous place xD
You really should have used emergency parachutes like beardy does, so that you don't have to land at all.
Those 2 wheel X-2 planes are too dangerous, and unreliable.
We'll have proper landing gear next episode, I agree it was quite dangerous
HEY SPIES IN OUR MOTHERLAND
@@vivosarma6977 The united states will land people on the moon by 1965!
I believe in long boi, he will try harder, he promises
the Beardy team sends it's regards, your gonna lose at the moon shot this time!
We'll see about that ;)

That satellite launch was epicc as hecc!!
Best ksp vids together with matt lowne
This is such aa great series, I'm loving it!
Beardy may have gotten to orbit, but N9 has launched Monke
Rip Milton K, The third pioneer that has lost their life in the pursuit of the stars, may his sacrifice not be in vain.
Love the project.
I'm trying realism overhaul myself and I'm now in 1960 and haven't reached anything close to orbit yet
and that's okay! There's normally no need to rush anything - this series just happens to be a race so xD
@@N9GamingOfficial it's not like I'm not trying to beat the real world records xD
But well the time after the Apollo missions leave some time for me to come back
X-15 had capability to dump any unburnt Ammonia/LOX, specifically to prevent it from having to land 'heavy'. Ship Manifest mod can dump resources. Using it wouldn't be cheating in my opinion, given the circumstances.
To be honest I thought I had it installed until I needed it and it wasn't there haha. That's actually pretty neat I didn't know the X15 could do that
Maybe it's small pen, but it's cute
That sounding rocket sounds so bloody good, I could listen to it for a long time!
Yes, they were first in orbit. But you can still launch first probe to the Moon!
Ah, yes, gotta love the Juno-style launch vehicle.
Also, the irony of rejecting the Aerobee engine is that a derivative of it has been a workhorse of satellite launchers for decades and even helped put man on the Moon. It's known as the Aerojet AJ-10, and it's not going anywhere any time soon.
We have Aj10 engines in game! :D
The AJ-10 has been places. Service Propulsion System on Apollo, Orbital Maneuvering System on the Shuttle Orbiter, and it's the main propulsion on the Orion spacecraft. Not to mention it was the engine on the original Delta upper stage that would give the launch vehicle its name.
Truly a design that's spanned the ages.
thank you for uploading today, i needed this.
Milton touched the edge of the envelope. Gone but not forgotten. The graveside Medal of Honor ceremony. Was quite moving.
N is gonna win... N1 tho B-)
Just joking. Really enjoying both sides of the series. Cheers!
Well, N1-L3 is soviet moon rocket :)
Satellite Name: Special Agent 86 by the Control Agency, Also, may I recommend the name Maxwell Kerman. "And loving it!'
hell ya a new ep
The satellite looks just like this pen I have, and the brand on that is "Kikkerland" which has Kerbal Ks in it.
Also you better look out; another pilot loss and the joint-committee on space is bound to have some hearings for you.
The Kommies beat us to orbit! Let's get our asses to the grind stone and win this race!
RIP Milton!!!
I think a good name for the satellite would be Entrepreneur
Think at the end of the series we could get a detailed timeline to track both sides achievements over time?
Don't worry about the russkies getting into orbit first, you got the first life form into space, you're on track for the first crewed orbital mission. Another thing, maybe you could name the satellite the Skout-1.
Maybe, can't promise anything though!
I hope this series goes beyond just reaching the moon, maybe mars or even kerbals on moons of jupiter?
You should name it the Space Needle because it’s in space, and it kind of looks like a needle.
Freeway-1 because it free it's ways with gravity 🚀
Hey man I got inspiration from your RP-1 series and started my own RUclips channel. I thought your idea of a google doc as mission data was genius and I hope you don’t mind that I did that too. I love your channel and if you want I’ll take down the doc.
No by all means keep it up!!
finally its here
You should name it OVER (Overly Visitive Earth Rocket)
Love these vids. Thanks!
this is the one of the few series that i am watching twice
14:30 i'm afraid the sound got a little screwed up and misaligned. nevertheless, this is really great
This was actually by design, showing the redesign of the capsule while talking about it failing - there was a lot I had to cut down to make sure the video isnt too long! Thanks though :D
name the satellite orbital boi
I am gonna laugh if Beardy makes it to the moon before you
RIP Milton, from the stars we came, to the stars we return. Man this is starting to get to me lol
Ill be sure not to kill any more of them :c
waited all week for this
just a thought ive been watching some old nasa stuff from the shuttle era and found myself watching and reading about STS 51L and 107 and thought maybe a cool name or names for some important satellites would be naming them after some fallen astronauts
Pls call the rocket the hollandia
Excuse me Komrade, but the orbiter of the glorious soviet Union was Sputnik 1. Only successful missions receive official names.
I'd call the satellite The Ever Falling Empty Booster or Tefeb for short
Like how you made more or less a prototype to the x-15
P.S think you can make and proper x-15 supersonic aircraft in the future 😁
When the new cockpit unlocks I likely will!
N9 Gaming
How come beardy got them before you?
He chose to unlock that tech node way before I did, if I had grabbed that as well I wouldnt have had a satellite until mid 1955 instead of early 1955 :P
Hey N9 Gaming , from which mod are the Decals that you put on your Rocket?😃
